Alrighty I just had this place w/my bf tonight. We got a large pizza half of it with sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms and the other pepperoni peppers and onions. Well it was okay, there was too many of the peppers and onions and it ruins the flavor of the pizza. Also it was very very greasy and I would like more sauce on it. It was okay though I liked the crust, though I am partial to a thicker crust, hello Giordanos! Anyways and the fries would have been good had they been fresh. Usually this place is very good. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of lower. Tonight I just happen to have a very bad experience. The fried mushrooms were tasteless, overcooked and chewy. I usually like my fried mushrooms a little crispy and fresher. I used to get them before and they used to be better. So I'm not sure what happened. Then we had also ordered the mozzarella sticks. Again, definitely overcooked. The cheese wasn't stretchy when you pull it apart. It was tough and I couldn't eat more than one stick. Tonight was the first time trying their buffalo chicken sandwich and probably my last. Who puts lettuce and tomato on a very hot sandwich? The lettuce was wilted and soggy and a warm tomato is not a good thing. I expected the chicken to be a full boneless chicken breast with buffalo sauce on bread but the chicken was all chopped up. Definitely not what I expected at all. Although the sauce was ok, I wish they could get a "mild" sauce for those who can't stomach hot sauce. I went into this knowing that Al's advertises as Chicago's "thinnest" pizza, and they're not wrong. If not, I would consider this NY style, but cut in squares. Needless to say, it was delicious. Al's is a little spot with a walk-up counter and a few tables to eat in with slices available. I ordered a pizza to go and got the thin crust pepperoni and sausage. It was ready under 30 minutes. The price is better than others in the area by dimension, but that could also be because of the "thinnest" crust. The crust has a smooth textured bottom, but by no means crispy. However, it was cooked perfectly for this type of crust. The entire pizza was covered in toppings and cheese and I did not enjoy one part of the pizza over the other (referencing how some people like crust pieces vs. center pieces). It was very uniform, which is awesome, yet rare in the same. The sauce was a balanced savory blend with little to not sweetness. The sausage was juicey with a natural flavor; not over-seasoned. The pepperoni was on top of the cheese and was just crispy enough to cook out the flavor into the cheese. It was slightly on the greasy and salty side due to the toppings, but it did not bother me one bit. I did find myself folding the squares like a NY triangle slice in order to prevent the toppings from falling off, so I might ask next time for it to be cut in triangles. Otherwise, this was one amazing pizza with tons of flavors. If thin and flimsy if your thing, look no further. Al's is on my return list. read more

4*?? Seriously? What a disappointment. So many great pizza reviews, but we ordered the stuffed pizza and... well - just say NO. The stuffed artichoke was horrible, I am in shock that it lives on the menu. However, the bruschetta was decent and ended up being my meal. And to make things worse, it was supposed to be 1hr and 15 minutes... huh? We got our food in almost 2 hours. I'd say Mama Mia's has Al's beat - by far. The person on the phone says, I'm sorry but that is for pick up only. I reply that I understand, but I have two other pizzas coming via delivery. No, it says pick up right on the coupon. We've done this many times before, so I ask for the manager. She is the manager, her name is Anna and she lost the entire order because she has no common sense. We just moved in to the area and because of the good reviews on Yelp we decided to order from here. Their thin crust pizza is mediocre with a tangy sauce. The kids ages 13 and 10 took few bites and decided to make some other food and my kids usually eat anything. Now I have basically a whole box of pizza with nobody wanting leftovers (this never happens) We also got the appetizer combo which included fried zucchini fried mushroom and mozzarella cheese sticks. At the end of December I ordered a thin crust pizza which was soggy and tasteless. I also ordered the chicken parm with pasta and I could tell it was the frozen breaded kind which was very disappointing as I was recommended this restaurant from a friend who knows the owners. The pasta was hard and the sauce tasted horrible. Maybe the owner is not around much and the quality of the food is suffering. I think most restaurants in this area about profit and not the quality of the food. I will never order from this place again. I will never order from Al's Pizza again. Awful customer service. I ordered a pizza and garlic bread. The order came with the pizza with the wrong toppings and no garlic bread. Nothing in the order was right, it was 100% wrong. I did not want to wait another hour for a redelivery and called to ask for a refund. I was told they do not offer refunds and only remakes and redeliveries. When I stated that I did not want it delivered again due to the hour and child bedtimes I was hung up on by the manager. Refusing refund is one thing, being hung up on is another. The customer service was down right rude and it was 100% the mistake of the restaurant. I then called grubhub to file a complaint and ask for a refund. They refused refund to grubhub as well. I eventually called my credit card company to cancel the payment order. Again, I will never order from Al's Pizza again and if you value custome service you should not order from Al's pizza either. There are dozens of other pizza places on the far North West side that will bend over backwards to keep you as a customer. Al's will not. read more

At work they call me the Pizza snob. We were raised eating pizza several times a month. I absolutely love pizza. It seems that most of the pizza restaurants in the area have either cut back on ingredients or my taste buds have done a 360. Pizza is just not as flavorful as it was when I was a child. Then a co-worker of mine turned me on to Al's. I'm back in pizza-heaven again. The pizza there is ALWAYS hot, flavorful and DELICIOUS. I feel like I've come home again. We didn't know about Al's and learned that we are about 15 min's from them (if we get stopped by a train it can be 20 to 50 min's LOL) so we checked it out. I had this Pizza a long time ago. It was amazing then and is the best pizza we have ever had. If you like THIN crust & they have the best sauce, cheeze and freshest ingredients, then Al's Pizza is for you!. I have had many Pizza's, but I promise you this will be your favorite. We have even told our friends about Al's and they come from DesPlaines, like us to get Al's pizza. (I'ts actually only 15-20 minutes from DP. The hours are great and the help is phenominal!! By the way, the prices are wonderful as well. I get the $22.00 special, (comes with an add'l small cheese pizza) The kids always love that. This establishment has several management issues. They do NOT honor their coupons and the delivery person argues with the customer. They send coupons with their pizza and then refuse to honor the coupon because "Al made the rule" (whatever BS this means). read more

Good pizza but terrible costumer service and drivers that cannot find ordering address, even with use of GPS. I was a costumer for more than year. ..and still, they couldn't deliver on time or find my place. Excuse that driver is new did not work after 4th fime...and even if he was new- it is his job to find the place and deliver. Al's has a great thin crust pizza. I'm a big fan of the thin crust with pepperoni and garlic. I've also had the chicken parmesan with rigatoni, which was excellent. The driver told me that I gave the restaurant the wrong address but I ordered through Grub Hub and I verified that I did provide them the correct address. Another half an hour went by and the driver was not answering his phone so I called the restaurant and spoke with "Al the manager". He called the driver and told me that his car broke down. Horrible pizza. I had a 16 inch cheese pizza. It was so salty. Secondly, when I got my pizza (delivered) the pizza driver scammed me out of a dollar saying that I only payed him $14.00, instead of $15.00. Then, when I opened up my pizza and grabbed a slice, it was cold. I called back and asked for something to be done about it, and they sent me out another pizza.
