Having the floors redone throughout your entire house is agony! It's chaos! It's painful! It's…read moreexpensive! That being said, I have zero doubts in my mind that Jim G. and I made the 100% correct choice to go with Alex and Arco Floor Covering for our project. We got 4 different estimates and, even though Alex's estimate was on the higher side, we felt the most comfortable with him for a variety of reasons. Some of the most important: -Very upfront about all our options, regardless of price -Tons of samples in his showroom (which is also near our house), which he allowed us to take home for a few days -He's been in business for nearly 30 years -My friend's parents used him and loved him -He does the work himself; it is him and one other worker who has been with him for years. He doesn't subcontract or bring in tons of random dudes. He is the one in my house daily doing the job. Our job (hardwood throughout the house) was supposed to take 4 days, maybe 5. Our house was apparently a hot mess underneath all the carpet, so the job ended up taking 9 days. 9!!! I'm still traumatized by it. However, I know 100% that some of the other companies we received estimates from (especially the guy who was 45% cheaper) would have just kept laying the wood down on our crappy floors, rather than taking the longer and more painful route of fixing the underlying problems. Alex worked meticulously to show us all the problems, explain ways to fix them, and did the job correctly. We did have to pay a bit more for materials, but all prices were fair. I mean, you can't blame a guy for asking for a little more money than we originally agreed upon if he has to buy nearly $1,000 worth of plywood and has to pour more than 300lbs of concrete to attempt to level our living room floor. Alex and his co-worker worked on our project for 9 days straight (including Saturday and Sunday!), were always on time, often worked through lunch or just had a mini-break to eat, and made sure to explain everything to us, prepare us for the next day's work, and were very accommodating with our needs in relation to our cat and to have some area of sanctuary. He changed his initial plan of which rooms to do first so that we could have our bedroom available to us and attempt to live normally. While I wouldn't want to go through the process again, I would choose Alex for any floor projects we have in the future. Our floors look amazing! You may pay a little bit more, but the old adage about getting what you paid for is completely accurate.

Arco Flooring meets all the criteria above and then some. Alex, the owner, made me finally feel comfortable with replacing all our flooring when I was just about to give up. I had a hard time trusting others and they couldn't find what I wanted. Worst of all they didn't seem really interested in our business. The economy still sucks right? We went with hardwood throughout our home and Alex did an amazing job installing it all, even we the some major curve-balls along the way. They kind of come with a house from the 60's and some major crackhead owners over the years. He was not the cheapest quote but with something as large as replacing your flooring you will get what you pay for. There are not many contractors I could recommend over the years but Alex at Arco Floor Covering is by far #1 on my list.

Britt coordinated with Kevin to come out for a look at the project and Kevin was here before 1 PM. He came back first thing the next morning at 9 AM and was done within an hour. So to recap, in less than 24 hours, it was fixed. On Kevin's way out, I asked if he could help me install a wall mount fan in the brewery. He was back with Britt that Thursday not only to install the fan but to touch up some of the areas around the shelf that he had worked on Tuesday. They got here at 8:30 AM and were done under 3 hours. Unbelievable. Two jobs in 4 days and the guys couldn't have been easier to work with.
