Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? You can tell Bobby pours love into his confectionery creations and is proud of what he does, handing out samples and answering any questions guests may have. There are various fudge flavors for sale that differ depending on the season. We were walked through the fudge making process and how he sources the highest quality ingredients for his product, something that you can't find in mass produced candy factories. After rounds of recipe testing he has fudge making down to a science, perfecting the amount of sweetness for each flavor. I'm obsessed with the pistachio fudge, featuring real pieces of pistachio throughout! I'm already planning a visit to the store for each season to try what new flavors Bobby has in store!

On Sunday morning, I needed to kill some time, and I decided to on some early Easter Shopping. LCC packs a lot of candy into that Shack. And the variety was amazing. They had everything I possibly could have expected, including Buckeyes, Candified Pretzels, all types of gummy candy, trendy Euro candy, etc. I bought a number of things for Easter. They're allowed to free roam and are hormone free. There is a small parking lot and the chocolate shop is very intimate and cozy. The employees were friendly too. You're able to peak into the dairy barn and see the cows too. There are a variety of chocolates to choose from; from truffles, chocolate bars, caramel, and more. They have won multiple awards for their chocolate. They also offer private tours and chocolate tastings. I purchased a box of 9 assorted chocolates and two white chocolate lollipops. The chocolates were expensive but worth it. They tasted fresh and creamy, up there with the best chocolates I've had. I highly recommend a visit!
