I really enjoyed using this local business for years but they recently stopped taking ALL vision insurance. The exam fees are now the price of a new pair of glasses even with my VSP reimbursement. I was about to give up on contacts, as they were the third optometrist I tried. I was ready to throw in the towel for the last time, after several failed fittings at Alpine, but Dr. Lessani insisted that I try one last set that might be suitable for my eyes, and bam they worked. Next year, she recommended a different, newly released set of contacts that worked even better. Contacts aside, I feel the prescriptions she gives out are some of the most accurate I've had, simply because she's very meticulous and is constantly listening! read more

Having one of those, "Yay! I'm so happy, I just walked in to check this place out" moments! My primary care doctor is located in this hidden gem - Ladera Shopping Center in Portola Valley. After my appointment with him, I noticed Alpine Optometry as I was walking back to my car. Having just switched insurances, I knew it was time for me to be seen by an Optometrist. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a smile and a friendly employee... Nothing intimidating about this place even with it's tasteful decor and beautiful store front. They were able to tell me quickly that my insurance was covered here and so I made an appointment for my husband and I for a Saturday morning (a plus since my husband's schedule is pretty challenging). I will admit that normally, before I do something like this, I would Yelp first but I just went with my gut feeling because it was all going so smoothly - I still have good instincts I suppose! We met Dr. Lessani for our appointment and she was simply wonderful. She took her time with both of us. She was knowledgeable, informative, and extremely thorough. Everything in the office looked clean, new, modern, and up to date. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great Optometrist, in fact, I've already started. Dr Lessani is super nice and very thorough. She is very friendly and polite. She made sure I felt comfortable leaving her office knowing she tried to figure out why my eyes felt tired or more difficult to see clearly by the end of the day. Her receptionist is kind of soft spoken and not your typical perky receptionist but she gets the job done. Nice lady just not much a conversationalist? Only reason why i gave this place a 4 and not a 5 is because I wish there was actually more selection here for the glasses..maybe it wasn't my cup of tea on brands for the frames but I didn't see any of your typical ray bans or whatever young people (early 20s) like to wear. I think when I'm a bit older with different tastes, I'd love this place so much more for the selection. Especially the face a face brand! Maybe next time :) Nonetheless, the staff was super patient and helpful with picking out frames and they have your insurance authorization to help you out in knowing what your insurance covers. When I compared my new prescription to my current glasses, I noticed a rather large difference in my left eye and asked her about it. After 20+ years patronizing an optometry office with rotating staff, my favorite doctors were no longer working there and the location was no longer convenient. I had noticed Alpine Optometry during one of my frequent visits to Ladera Shopping Center, so when it came time for my annual exam, I decided to give it a try. My appointment was yesterday. Like L.S., I found Dr. Lessani to be personable and professional. During the exam, she discovered a hard-to-correct distortion. She listed some of the possible causes, one of which I had never been told about before. She then ran specific tests for each. Her calm, candor, patience and systematic approach were reassuring. She explained things clearly and gave me helpful advice. Both Dr. Lessani (during the exam) and her assistant (when I phoned to schedule and while I was shopping for eyeglasses) clearly disclosed prices and insurance coverage. They obtained my explicit permission to proceed with any test or option that would cost me even a few dollars. The office is in an upscale neighborhood. The product lines on display were correspondingly high end. Every patient has the right to request a written prescription and take it to a discount optician. Alpine did not pressure me to buy glasses from them. But their frames were more comfortable than any I had ever tried. And there were insurance incentives to purchase from that office on the day of the exam. Dr. Lessani also promised to revise the progressive lens Rx if it didn't work for me and replace the lenses for free. So I did decide to buy my glasses there. So far, so very good. read more

Summary: Both my wife and I had a great experience at this office and we have been recommending this office to our friends and coworkers. I thought I should drop in here and also post about our positive experience on yelp. Long version: I work in hi-tech and in front of a computer all day long. My eyesight has gotten worse over the last few years ever since I hit 40, and I wanted to make sure I am going to a good eye doctor. The local optometry office that we used to go to started to surprise us with a new doctor every year, and I just couldn't trust them anymore. It was time for us to change. Dr Lessani was highly recommended to us by some friends. We decided that even though her office is a few minutes longer drive for us, we would give her a try. We were impressed with the quality of service and overall feel of the office, as well as the selection of higher end frames that they carry. I ordered a pair of Armani driving/walking glasses from them, and had them replace the lens in my older glasses that I use for computer. (I am not trying to impress my computer monitor with the latest and greatest frame, so a new lens in the old frame will do! :)) We also ended up buying some sunglasses from them as well. My wife got the casual Dior that she liked, and I got my first set of Maui Jims. The prices were reasonable, and we were very happy with the overall experience. read more

I went into Alpine Optometry with a friend and purchased cleaning solution for my anti reflective lenses. I was treated so well that when I needed to have my eyes examined I made an appointment with Dr. Lessani. She performed a very thorough eye exam and identified an issue with my retina which concerned her and she referred me to a specialist at Stanford. I wasn't able to get an appointment at Stanford for two months. The other day I started to see black spots darting around and I called Dr. Lessani and she came right to the phone and asked if I could come in right away to see her which I did. She took a picture of my eye and found that the structure had changed in a matter of two weeks. She then did another eye exam to check to be sure that my retina was intact and she didn't find any issues. She told me if anything changed to call her back right away and she would see me and call Stanford to get me in to see a specialist on an emergency basis. She also told me that she would replace my lens at no cost since my vision had changed and would change them up to 90 days from purchase at no cost. She then walked me out front after the exam and when I asked how much I owed her and she replied that there was no charge because she had asked me to come in to see her because she was concerned. This is the most extraordinarily positive experience that I have ever had with a health care provider. I was fully expecting to pay but she wouldn't accept payment. More importantly than the fact that she didn't charge me for the visit was her genuine concern about my well being and her willingness to go way above and beyond to help me get the care that she felt I needed. She is the best!! I highly recommend Dr. Lessani. It is a real pleasure to have the occasion to write this review. read more

I've worn glasses my whole life. I'm very particular about my eyes and how accurate my prescription for glasses needs to be. That's why I'm so happy about my experience with Dr. Lessani and the entire staff at Alpine Optometry. It's a very warm and professional environment. Everyone is nice and knowledgable. I have had many optometrist over the years...and recently tried Alpine Optometry because it is close...located in Ladera Shopping center.... I found for the first time an optomotrist that was not in a rush to wait on 2-3 patients at a time...Dr. Lessani is deliberate and very thorough.......maintins a very clean office/lab ...and has the latest equipment for evaluating eye issues....It is refreshing to find an optometrist who goes the extra mile to evaluate your eyes....she caught some items that the previous optometrist missed....both my wife and I use Dr. Lessani....we are very happy with her welcoming personality...and professionalism. read more
