I realized that buying a house was within reach by talking to Ron Harden from Alpine Mortgage Planning. When we had our first conversation, he was very helpful and answered all of my 20 million questions which put us on a good path, or so I thought. In the same conversation, he learned that I worked for Lamborghini Beverly Hills and told me he was considering buying one (which to me spoke volumes about how much he was making off of people). My belief in him faltered. After speaking with Ron, I decided to call a guy that I had sold a car to a couple of years ago that owns a Realty Group, Christian Ehlers. When selling him a car, he was a fearless negotiator and asked for anything and everything under the sun. I knew he would do the same for me if I bought a house with him. When speaking with Christian, I explained what my pre-approval was for (according to Ron's calculations) and where I was looking to buy. He instantly started asking me questions about my pre-approval I didn't know the answers to, so I put him in contact with Ron. Only a few days later, I get the following verbatim email from Ron: Hello Sherice, I hope your house hunting goes well. You are more than welcome to work with any lender you choose, as I will not be working on your file anymore. I wish you the best and I hope you find the house of your dreams. I was dumbfounded. Did he really just drop me? So I asked who else I can work with at Alpine, since he didn't seem to want my business anymore, and received NO RESPONSE. Until, I got this email from him 3 months later: Hello Sherice, I am following up to see how your home purchase is going. We discussed your home purchase in July and I have not heard from you lately. Please feel free to contact me. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? So I responded in kind: You gave up on me so I went with another company and made my purchase. Happy Holidays... And do you know what he responded to me? What belittling and dismissive response he sent to me: I am sorry you felt I gave up on you. Congratulations on your home purchase and enjoy the holidays! Oh man. That response just tipped me off. So I sent this in response to him and Cc'd everyone I could find who worked with him: Ron, Your latest response was rude and dismissive. Below was the last email you sent to me before today where you said you were "checking in" to see if I was still looking to purchase a home. I also responded to you asking who I should work with instead at Alpine, and you NEVER RESPONDED. I didn't "feel" like you gave up on me, you DID give up on me. Take responsibility for your actions and don't try to pawn it off onto something I was "feeling". Now that you have reminded me of how terrible of a spot you left me in and how you left me hanging, I will definitely remember to leave you a review. Thank you again. I can't believe the nerve of this guy. I was so excited to be buying my first house and he just he left me out to dry because he didn't want to give the honest answers my real estate agent was asking him for. Total crook. My wife and I recently applied for a home mortgage loan with Alpine Mortgage. Our realtor recommended this place as a viable alternative to Chase Bank (we had just applied for a mortgage with Chase Bank). We wanted to get pre-approved for a home loan in order to start shopping! We submitted our application with Chase in early April. We waited and waited and yet there was no response and no pre-approval letter. At the end of April we decided to give the realtor's recommendation a chance and we contacted Chris Fenoglio at Alpine Mortgage. Within two days of sending him our paper work (I kid you not) we were pre-approved for a loan and we were ready to start shopping for a home! I would like to be the first to say that I would recommend Fernando 100% to anyone looking to purchase a home. He was ALWAYS available every day of the week, Yes even weekends. Fernando walked us through the whole process of purchasing our first home. Our Story...to keep it short and sweet, my fiancé and I contact Fernando a year before we actually purchased a home. Be careful! These folks were great when I bought the house, but when I went back a year later to refinance, the experience was totally the opposite. I think the quality of your interaction depends on who is processing your paperwork. The first time we had someone conscientious and caring, during the refinance we had someone just plain bad. Won't answer questions, doesn't keep the borrower in the loop, waits until the very last SECOND on everything. When we started the refi I was supposed to be getting $3500 back. At the end (AFTER closing escrow) it turns out that I owe $300. Of course now that I've closed, they won't even answer my phone call. Borderline negligent service. read more

Want to get strung along in getting your loan. Want to get a "Purchase Pre- Approval" letter that is not worth the paper it is written on. Want to use someone who will tell you want to hear, not really what is going on, then please give Alpine a try. Word to the wise, do not believe them. I had my house sold, and the buyer produced an approval letter, including FHA approval, then when it got all the way done to loan docs, Alpine would not do the loan. Buyer Beware!!! My fiance and I were referred to Derrick Goulette at Alpine Mortgage for a loan to purchase a condo. Intiially, things were moving along...we submitted all of our paperwork and were very responsive to Derrick's request and even went to his office for a face to face meeting to review our paperwork. After the face to face meeting, everything went downhill. Derrick would not return phone calls or emails to me,my fiance, his referring broker or our real estate agent. Derrick was a always in a "meeting". When I attempted to have someone else handle our deal, I was told that this is Derek's deal and he was the one handling it. The underwriter missed things right before we had to close which extended our escrow 10 additional days. Derrick did not lock in our interest rate early on so we ended up having a higher interest rate than expected. To put salt in the wound, Derrick sent us 50 address change cards that included a picture of our new place along with his contact information. The cards came in a very unprofessional envelope with no attention to detail...it felt like an after thought. In his note, he thanked us for doing business with him and that if there is anything we need that we give him a call. My fiance and I have purchased several properties and this was the most challenging and unpleasant experience that we've had with buying a place. read more
