Mitch is a supet guy & talented locksmith! He cheerfully took my call at 7 PM Saturday night and handled my challenging Schlage linen closet door, which was unexpectedly time-consuming. After unlocking the deadbolt lock, he replaced it with the combination lock I requested and patiently went over the instruction sheet for future re-programming. I can't imagine getting better locksmith service or a better price. Truckee, CA is extremely fortunate to have Alpine Lock & Key Service! read more

Bad morning all around, but my locksmith was timely and super positive! My day turned around after he helped me out:)

This business is professionally run!! Dunn answered the phone right away and sent Jacob out to rescue me. I was a guest in my friend's house and locked myself out. He said Jacob would be out in 45 min to an hour. Jacob showed up about 20 minutes later and had the door unlocked in literally 2 seconds. He was so nice and so was Dunn. It only cost me $175 which was well worth the money since there was a sweet little dog inside who really needed to go pee! Thanks Alpine Lock and Key for rescuing us all!!!! We love you! read more

Full disclosure I didn't use them. So why am I giving them a high review? I called with a job of widening door knob holes which I believed I couldn't do in that there was already a hole and thus nothing to guide the drill. The person I talked to said he would be happy to come out and do it, but then told me how to do it myself. He talked himself out of the job and saved me the money. Care for strangers over profit. How cool is that? read more

Super helpful super convenient I would definitely be a returning customer and I will be referring my friends!!! The guy that helped me out, can't remember his name, but it started with a M super kind and knew exactly what to do. read more

They are nice and friendly. I didn't want to call the locksmith because it was a stupid problem with an easy solution. It was a holiday, and the people renting our place didn't know how to open a privacy lock (eye roll) despite having the right key. Alpine Lock and Key answered on THE FOURTH OF JULY, not once but twice. I had to recover from the cost quote (remember, holiday rates), so that's why I had to call back - after I was able to breathe normally again. Promptly showed up when expected, opened it in two seconds. Nice guy, and professional. Thank you! read more

Mitch is awesome. Came quick, was super friendly, and knew exactly what to do. Life saver!

I was impressed that they were on time and quote was close to final bill. The technician was very quick and nice. He assisted me in programming my wify lock. I had some issues with downloading the APP and password - he was kind and didn't rush me. I would highly recommend! read more

I installed a new Schlage digital lock to my front door early in the morning. It connected seamlessly and I double checked it before exiting my house. I was outside with my dog for a few minutes and while looking at the app, it alerted me to update the firmware.... without knowledge, it disconnects the WiFi, which resulted in loss of access to my house. I called the Schlage tech support and the only solution they could offer was to call a locksmith. I searched YELP and 2 responded within minutes, however they said I was outside their service territory - even though I was in their service map?? I checked with AAA since I have homeowners insurance with them and they recommended contacting Alpine Lock in Truckee. Mitch responded right away and offered to come after his current job. I asked him to hold tight to see if I was able to get in through a window first. He checked back with me after his job to see if I was ok. He came over and got me back in my house within 5 minutes. He was so kind and empathetic, knowing I was outside for over 2 hours. I live in Tahoe and it was around 30 degrees outside. Thank you so much, Mitch for being so kind and efficient. I would absolutly call them again if I need their service and would highly recommend then to friends/family. read more

Ever been stuck at home waiting all day when you could be mailing a birthday card, buying groceries etc.? I had a 10 - 11 a.m. appointment window , called to get an eta and heard that the locksmith was struggling with a car key. Said I understood and looked forward to seeing him. I reached him again at 1:00 (voicemail full) and he suggested he could make it at 3:00. Another no show and he finally called me for the first time at 5:00 saying he could come out in 20 minutes and that he hadn't had a very good day. I declined explaining that I understand having a bad day. But I don't understand not communicating (phone?text?) He was polite, and said he apologized. read more

Staying at a friend's vacation house. Car was broken down in Truckee and in addition we thought we were locked out of the house. I called Alpine about getting a lockout service and was quoted $225. Since we couldn't drive back to the house, because the car was being worked on, the Alpine worker picked up my wife and son and took them to the vacation house. That part of the experience was five stars. However, I had suggested that the garage door was the most likely lock to work on, and the Alpine guy found that the garage door was only closed and NOT locked. We were charged $225 anyway. We do not expect to get free transportation in such a situation, but since the guy did not even need to get any tools out, we thought even a $150 charge would be reasonable. Paid the Alpine tech and took it up later with the company. The only positive about that part was I was called back. But (I'm guessing the owner, or one of the top bosses) was rude and insulting, would not even let me talk, and basically said "too bad" and hung up on me. read more

If we could give Jacob a 10 star review we would! We were locked out of our VRBO around 8:15 pm and started frantically reaching out to the property management company Vacasa. That will be an entirely different review but none the less, after not getting any response two hours later, we decided to reach out to a locksmith. You'd be surprised at how many advertise they're a 24 hour company and they're not! Jacob immediately responded and was extremely professional and kind. Cannot say enough good things about him. read more
