My condo is in Tahoma (west Lake Tahoe) and the dead bolt on the front door got stuck today. I called Lightning Lock and Key at 12:30pm. I spoke with Dean (the owner) and he said he'd have someone at the condo by 1:30pm. I've had a lot of "Tahoe Time promises" through the years...where they say they'll be there soon and are always late or never show up. But NOT this time! Sam (the tech) called me from Tahoe City and said he'd be at the condo in 20 minutes and he was! Sam assessed the situation and suggested a new dead bolt. Fine with me! Sam was the nicest young man!! Don't waste your time! I hired Dean back in April 2023 to repair a few locks at my home in Truckee - front deadbolt, master bedroom lock and outdoor handles that were damaged by a bear. I had to keep texting him to inquire about progress on ordering hardware. He forgot to order parts, used some of the parts for another customer and finally when received, ordered the wrong equipment! After 4 months of trying to work with him and reminding him of the project, I gave up. How he owns and operates his business is beyond me! I even had to remind him on the refund! It's nearing the end of May and it's dumping snow. I was all too excited for the new snowfall until the lock on my front door broke and left me freezing outside legitimately trying (and failing) to kick my door down. Luckily, I found Dean via Yelp and gave him a call pleading for help. He got to my place right on time and was super friendly upon arrival, which assured me I was going to be well taken care of. He was efficient but still managed time to chat with me while he worked; it wasn't like I was left there to awkwardly stand and watch him the entire time. My lock AND keys were all a mess, and he fixed them in a jiffy. I was inside my house sooner than I could have imagined and am currently sipping on some hot tea, defrosting thanks to Dean. Deen saved our assets tonught. Due to sheer stupidity I lost my keys at squaw. Deen continued to work on our car for 3 hours, at night, throughout the snowstorm.
