If you look at my list of reviews you will see I am someone who posts to build good businesses up not be petty. This 1 star review is well earned! My sister asked if I would join her to get a new set of nails after suffering from some pretty significant health issues & wanting a sister day. Though I only go to Touch Nails I agreed to sit with her here because my place is closed Mondays. I found it odd she told me she had called prior to to verify "how much" her nails would be since she's gone in the past. I find out she did this because every visit she is charged different prices for the exact same service. Then points it out & the price is "sometimes" corrected. RED FLAG #1 Her question on the phone was for the cost of gel vs. acrylic.the man said $38. She clarified she wanted the price quote for both & he told her they are both $38. We go & she asks the $ again because it didn't sound right the is told the correct price difference. she said that it was fine just do "acrylic, Long and coffin shaped" he begins putting on the tips and red flag #2 starts as he's doing it to make sure she knows this coffin shape is an extra $5. She tells him she had been many times in the past & they never charged extra $. He looked at her like she was stupid! She again says ok because the poor girl just wants to get her nails done. Red flag #3 She asks if he can make sure there is extra glue because her last set had 3 nails fall off within a day of leaving & had to go in to have them fixed. He again looks at her like she's stupid. I'm her older sister & now fuming but don't want to ruin her day. I didn't find out until later she also had 2 experiences where her nails lifted within days & their answer was squirting nail glue in which if there is moisture any person w/ a brain knows can cause infection or fungus! red flag #4 all tips are on, she has made it very clear that she wanted LONG COFFIN SHAPED NAILS! We already got the NEW $5 charge for the coffin shape now he cuts her first nail so short She can make a fist. That is far from long! She said I'm sorry that is way too short. He said NO THATS LONG! Again there's an attitude. I've had enough I chime in before she gets further railroaded because she's young & say thats not long & She would never get her nails that short! He bites back with "if I do any longer that will be another $5 for long nails" she AGAIN tells him she has gotten long coffin shapes & is never charged! he now involves the lady at the counter who also acts like this is their normal prices even though its not what she was ever charged! My sister is now more upset and I've had it,she looks at me & says what am I supposed to do the nails are glued on? I said "take them off this is ridiculous" he is so angry says "you want them off I take them off" Red flag #5 Does he use a remover to take the glue off?NOPE!!He rips them off with nail clippers!Thank god I didn't see this! this jerk made 3 of her nails bleed & hurt her! Seriously you rip the nails off with clippers & make her bleed because she doesn't want to pay $5 for everything you can think of & are pissed I didn't let you railroad her!AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL "COSTS" literally! I haven't seen a nail place like this since I was a teenager! Taking advantage of young girls when advertising a price & adding on multiple $5 up-charges AFTER THE TIPS ARE GLUED ON IS DISGUSTING! When I got her in Touch Nails & told the story they were blown away! It makes me sick how many chances she gave them!!!! Stay away from this awful place! * * In response to this sad attack showing this business owners character 2 words sum it up "delusional liar" I NEVER GOT MY NAILS TOUCHED BY THIS BUSINESS! They claim to have fixed "my thin nails" really? I think I made it clear The client was my sister! And this sad claim they have a security camera that will show my sister wasn't bleeding is the most laughable part! I've worked government security w/ the most expensive security cameras & you still wouldn't be able to see where a nail clipper cut someone's cuticles! You have some real issues!! Sooo I use to travel 1 hr to get my nails done bc I was never able to find a nail tech I loved. I was done with the driving and tried kissey nails on 70. I was not happy at alllll with the new gel set I got. They werent what I wanted. I started looking at nails on insta and I came across someone's IG account with amazinnggggg nails. So I DMed them (no shame. I was desperate) to ask them who did their nails.... they responded with ANABELLA from alpha nails. I went there...skeptical.... and I was hooked. She told me my current gel set was horrible (she wasn't lying), took off the set and gave me a brand new coffin set. I got sssoooooooo many compliments. I came back for a refill and she did another amazing job. The pic I attached is over two weeks old and my nails still look amazing. And better yet: the rhinestones are STILL ON. I don't ever review but after a few poor experiences I feel the need to share...multiple times. The services are never consistent. My most recent experience was a 20+ minute wait with an appointment and I asked for a specific tech comparable to who I like to see since she was off. Since I waited so long to get started I did not have time for both services. Apparently that means rush the one service I'm actually getting. My pedicure lasted less than 21 minutes. I'm a new mom who was looking forward to some 'me' time. I'm also a professional in the industry who worked as a nail tech for 15 years in extremely busy salons like theirs. We never ever slacked in customer service. I was treated with disregard because I said I don't have time for both services. I always tip well and beyond. I have been going to this nail salon every summer for the last 5+ years and sometimes during the year. It has gone down hill and Amy the owner rushes people through. It is NOT an enjoyable experience and she has cut me many times with the nail file. This last time after being early for my appointment I was rushed out and couldn't get a design on my nails. In a pinch went to get my nails done after getting engaged. Based off of the review online I chose Alpha nails. They were prompt in taking me as I had an appointment. The gentleman doing my nails may have been new. He did fine on the polish but asked for reverse ombré and it was a challenge. He fixed several of my nails after I asked but in the end I just said forget it as I felt bad for him as he said it was his first time doing that design. Okay, I understand that but now a week and a half My nails have all chipped and peeled off so, I don't know if it was user error or poor polish. read more

Owner (the one with the pony tail) has a very sarcastic attitude. The dryers were not working while my friend and I were attempting to dry our feet. He wouldn't even come check to see if it was in fact working when there were two women prior to us sitting there who had the same issue. He proceeded to yell "it's working" meanwhile there was no air coming out. The customer service was all around bad and our pedicures were rushed (10 mins). Farewell for good to Alpha Nails Toms River NJ. As a small business owner myself who's been patronizing your business for over 10 years I find your treatment of me yesterday appalling. **40 minutes** after paying $60 for an LCN manicure. I went to peel a label off of an apple and my thumb nail chipped. I drove over to have it repaired and without even apologizing, Amy sits me down, doesn't look at me again, and ignores me for over 20 minutes while taking two other people over me. The repair would have taken no more than 5 minutes. I know, because in the past 10 years. I've had my appointments delayed and interrupted on numerous occasions, while waiting for other people to have their nails repaired. I never complained, even after having to wait over 30 minutes after my appointment time on more than one occasion. Even as I stood up and walked out she didn't even offer me an apology let alone offer compensation. She left me sitting there without even acknowledging my presence or letting me know whether they were going to get to me as quickly as possible or leave me sitting there for hours. Even after I left and texted Amy to let her know how upset I was over this treatment, she still never apologized. In fact, she blew up my phone with text after text of excuses about other people having appointments. Had my own appointments not been interrupted numerous times in the past for other people I would not be nearly so upset. I sent dozens of my clients to Alpha Nails on referral and have been a loyal patron for over TEN YEARS. Shame on you. _______________________________________________ Have at it Amy. The fact that you're still arguing with me just further illustrates my point. I pulled in at 4 p.m. and left at 4:22. I don't need a video because even waiting 10 minutes in my case was too long, especially when you had two people finish and take two brand new clients while you completely ignored me. Like I said, you have delayed my appointments UP TO 30 MINUTES past my scheduled time NUMEROUS times to fix other people's broken nails. And I NEVER complained. There's NOTHING else that you can say about that so save your breath. Next, I paid $50 for the manicure and gave a $10 tip. Not sure what math you do but 50 + 10 = $60 in my book. You may want to use a calculator next time. Honestly I've had manicures where I've used my nail as a screwdriver and they stayed intact for WEEKS. A nail chipping 40 MINUTES after a manicure, **regardless of how it happened**, should be fixed immediately. Period. But now you stoop even lower and suggest I'm lying about how it happened?...just...wow. You didn't even give me the courtesy of telling me that you would have someone take care of me ASAP. You completely ignored me sitting there. Even after all that, I still waited 24 HOURS to see if you would have called and apologized and offered to fix it before writing this review...Nothing. Again, still no apologies from you even in your answer to my review. Just more excuses and belligerence. I wrote an honest review last week which wasn't a good one. The business manager replied back with lies. Said things that I did not do. She says she has "video footage." . She also mentioned that to me that day as if I committed some kind of crime. Yes, I did not too the technicians but paid full for my daughter's services. I am usually a very good tipper but refused to after the way they all were treating me for not being happy about then fudging up our appointments and making us wait still a long time. The manager failed to leave out that she called my personal cell phone several times after we left. I didn't pick up. That's crazy!!!! She was probably calling to yell at me some more. This woman has some nerve!!!! Instead of apologizing she wrote a response by bashing me some more. I'm not the only one. If you read her responses to any review that she doesn't agree with they are all rude. That just shows how she has absolutely no professionalism and doesn't know how to run a business! Is it fair for all the customers that come in after the "late" customer-- to be late? I guess it doesn't matter to you if you lose customers or not. I've been to two salons since yours and they were "very busy" (they were not "slow or empty") but very organized where I've not waited more than five minutes just one time. Their quality of work is excellent and both salons were very clean. We hope you can figure out a way to avoid anyone else to have to wait 50 minutes to get a pedicure. My mistake was I should have left after 15 minutes. No need to respond since as far as I'm concerned I found a great nail salon for us-- in fact two. They are more than accommodating and understanding. I've gone to more than a few of there employees and all do an amazing job !! In the every vast array of nail salons, it can be hard to weed out good ones versus bad ones without stepping into one and then it's too late. Alpha nails is definitely on the side of good nail salons! The entire shop was extremely clean when we entered and someone acknowledged us right away. The pedicure chairs had built in massagers and it was evident that the bowl for your feet was regularly cleaned. The woman who did my pedicure was very kind, and no one in the shop was pushy or made you feel uncomfortable. This is a nail salon I will definitely be coming back to! read more

I had the most embarrassing and upsetting visit to Alpha Nails. Amy, the owner, was rude and embarrassing to me. She yelled at me and upset me. I have been going there for 20 years and she did not care how she treated me. I did nothing but wait for a manicure. She took other people first and I questioned when I was next. I was the first person in the store and waited for a manicurist. Other people were taken first. Amy was angry at me for reasons I don't know. I cried and walked out. Obviously I will not go back. I would have given zero stars. First, I am the customer. Why are you lying to a customer. I have been going to your two locations for over twenty years. I was at your first location before Hurricane Sandy destroyed it. I saw your Amy pregnant with all your children. Second, the woman who came in for a pedicure did NOT have an appointment. We spoke because she was concerned I was there before her. I never asked Amy to do my manicure. I was waiting reading my book. You have a walk in business. It is not unusual to ask how long to wait. When you say 15 minutes and then it is an hour later, it is not unusual to ask again. I was verbally attacked by Amy. I could not finish my manicure because of the verbal attack of your wife. Your wife actually walked back to Tracy's station and started yelling at me. Is that good business?? You are the owners and both of you should be ashamed on how you spoke to a customer. I have been using alpha nails for 10 years... the atmosphere is clean and modern ... staff is friendly and helpful... I have gotten manicures, gel, acrylic, waxing and always been more than happy with the results. Only warning is make an appointment if you don't want to wait.... it's hopping in there. I went to Alpha for the first time last week, and I am so happy to say I have found my new nail salon. After trying several other in the area, and being sorely disappointed, this was such a relief. Everyone was polite and welcoming when I arrived fifteen minutes before my scheduled appointment time - and I was still taken for my pedicure immediately! Probably one of the best pedicures I've had in a long time! Justin did my nails and did EXACTLY what I asked him to do, and they look AMAZING!! They have so many gel colors to choose from - and when I saw a color I loved on one of the other nail techs, she searched high and low to find me the color! The last time I came in here, I asked for a polish change bc I had literally had a mani less than 7 days ago. I was getting a basic color, Ballet Slippers, by Essie. I had a manicurist that is a tiny older lady with short hair and glasses who works at the back table. She did an awful job at my mani. She barely swatted the base coat on, and then put the thinnest, stingiest layer ever of nail polish. I had to ask her to go back and put a 3rd layer bc it was so spotty. I was trying to be nice when I was telling her my concerns that it didn't look right, and she started to get annoyed I could tell. She then started accusing me of it being bc of my cuticles and I exclaimed that wasn't the issue bc it was really the tips that looked bad. It was only $5 for the polish change, I still gave her $2 tip, and just left bc i was getting late for a wedding I had to head out to. I showed my hubs who usually doesn't care about this stuff and he commented my nails looked sloppy. Ugh! I prob could have just done a better job myself. Next time I'm going somewhere else. Laura made me pick my colors didn't say anything then as she was half way done painting them she tells me my nail is too short for a sunflower and i said you can't do any sunflower and she did this. The pedicure I got here was standard but please everyone do not go here for waxing! Where I'm from in NY you can get a reputable wax at a nail salon, apparently that is not the case here. The Brazilian I received was unprofessional, overly painful, and only partially complete. I had to go the very next day to a professional waxer to have it redone, she was appalled and compelled me to write this review so no one else will be left the way I was. Entire areas were unwaxed, other areas were waxed 4, 5, or 6 times on the same area. So painful. My overinflated sense of people pleasing was the only reason I paid for the service. I should have withheld payment. I will never return. And from now on I have learned my lesson, I will only receive waxes from legit waxing studios. read more

I got a gel manicure 5 days ago (which didn't look good at all when I left - jagged along cuticles), and it's already chipping. I would have looked past the unfriendly staff (my nail technician didn't even formally greet me when she sat down. I've been to the majority of the nail salons in the area and this is by far the best one. They are incredibly kind and fast with their service unlike most salons I've experienced here. I go to Tim each time, he does a wonderful job and doesn't charge a lot for the amount of work I get. He's a total perfectionist with his work. I highly recommend. read more

I stumbled on to this nail salon by accident I'm going to post a picture of this as a week of me still trying to abuse my nails trying to figure out what's the secret this is the best nail salon I've come across in along time and I've been going to a lot of nail salons throughout my life I was going to one for over six years and every time I walked out of there the next day one broke then 2 etc then they would charge me for me for 1 or 3 you get the picture then try not to even let me do a French because they would tell me and my nails would chip well at the time I had trouble Longlane hours just to get there I just have to say I want to think Tom Amy and Tye and the entire staff the place is beautiful the caramel when you walk in is welcoming they're extremely accommodating my way of looking at is there Chyna like the upper end or the canal a salon that I'm used to going to and I would recommend this nail salon to anyone it's absolutely the best this long now mind you the pictures I'm taking her over a week old and still look how good they look Thank you Regina read more

Number one, I know straight from slanted. Secondly, I have no need to be dishonest. As you can see from another review, the employees at Alpha Nails are rude. DONOT GO HERE! Soooo dirty! I can list a dozen things wrong with my experience but the main one was watching the male nail tech go into the wax room, use a wax strip to fish an eyelash out of his eye. I just had such a feeling the guy was not going to throw out the wax strip. I watched and sure enough he put the strip back on the tray with the others NOT in the garbage. The garbage can was in the opposite corner. When I called him out on it, he insisted he threw out. When I pointed out that the garbage can was no where near the tray where he returned the strip to, he just walked away from me. Seriously, you do not want to go here. This place stinks... Literally of acrylic nails and the natural service is stinky too. I went there based on reviews but my mother and I were extremely disappointed. Should've walked out when the wall of fumes hit our noses but we gave them a chance. Our nails were crooked and our pedicures were lousy. I recently moved to South Jersey and I have been looking for a nail salon. After admiring someone's else nails, I went to Alpha Nails and I have to say I was VERY HAPPY with the Gel Nails w/Gel Polish that I received. The reason that I am only giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel they are lacking a bit in the pedicure department. I am use to salons giving a little more attention. It was very busy and I am not saying that they did a rush job I am saying that all they did was remove polish, wash and massage and re-polish. If your feet need a little more attention i.e. removal of dead skin (I know gross) the only thing they have is a brush to clean them. They do not even have the gel that you can put on and then remove in 5 minutes. All and all it was a good experience, I just wish they would step up the pedicure game a bit. read more
