Originally, we hired a locally owned (since 1959) company with an A+ BBB rating to fix our 9 year old heat pump which was still under warranty for parts. The technicians misdiagnosed the problem and explained that it would cost us $3,600+ to fix the unit. They urged us to purchase a new heat pump which would have cost us $19,000 for a bottom of the line unit. We called Mark who found that the previous company had left wires disconnected. The charge to fix the unit would be $1,200 with the warranty company providing the parts. Mark explained that the heat pump would last 5+ years. If we wanted a new unit, the bill would be $12,000 for an American Standard heat pump.
