In January 2024, I hired Royal Pro Heating to install a new HVAC system (heat pump and furnace)…read more After installation, the system failed to cool the home adequately. This issue persisted for over six months. Despite multiple service visits, the problem remained unresolved. I was repeatedly told the system was functioning properly, even though it clearly was not. He would see it at 78F and claim it was normal. Eventually, many months later, Royal Pro Heating paid for a third-party HVAC specialist to assess the system. That technician identified serious deficiencies and commented that whoever installed the system "doesn't know what they are doing." Following that, further repairs were made--including the installation of a missing filter dryer--but the system still does not cool the home sufficiently. I also raised concerns about inflated charges--for example, a $499 cost for an Ecobee thermostat that typically retails for significantly less--and the delays, mismanagement, and lack of accountability throughout the process. I formally requested partial compensation. In the end, the compensation offered was not sufficient or fair, and the matter remains unresolved.

Corresponding to set up the appointment was flawless and flexible. The two gentlemen that showed up at my house were professional. It was raining and they were very cognoscente of not getting mud in the house and even cleaned up a mess that another inspector had left behind. They were friendly as well as explained the process. This part of the move in process felt too easy and I wish I could find more home repair specialist with this level of care and customer service!

I highly recommend Reliance Indoor Air Quality. After contacting several heating companies in the…read morearea, we choose them for replacing our old gas furnace. Our reasons for selecting Reliance for the job were based on the good recommendation for Reliance from a local trusted realtor and Reliance's helpfulness in advising us on the choice of the new furnace. Price was not an issue in the choice of furnace since all bids were within just a few dollars of one another; however, it was a factor since Reliance charges substantially (almost 30% less) for annual maintenance than the heating company we had been using. We were very pleased with the workman-like way Leo of Reliance replaced and installed our new furnace. We found him to be very efficient and professional. After installing the new furnace, he thoroughly cleaned up from the process, took the time to show us how to register our new furnace to assure that it will be under warranty, and how to file for the PSE energy rebate.

We hired Dan Wilcox to do the electrical work for our kitchen renovation in November 2022. I…read morebelieve he started the work on November 19th. We paid 80% ($2704.80) of the invoice after the first stage of the work was complete. Since then he has returned on two occasions to continue the work, however it remains incomplete and our kitchen pot light switches are wired incorrectly. When you flip the switch, some lights turn off and other lights turn on. Other lights flicker badly. He has crossed the circuits somewhere so that three different switches are controlling lights that should be controlled by only one switch, which leads them to turn lights on and off simultaneously. I'm concerned this is a fire hazard. Some of the pot lights are also not secure to the ceiling and are sagging down. He also was supposed to finish our above the stove vent so it vents to the outside. He has left it venting into our attic. I'm very concerned this is a fire hazard in our home and do not feel safe using our stove or kitchen lights with three kids at home. He said he would be here January 3rd to fix the mess of a job he did but never showed up and is now ignoring phone calls from both myself and our contractor. He will not return messages or texts, even though I can see he has read them. He has taken our money and abandoned the job. Also totally botched the work that he did complete.

I've used Shayn Sawatzky several times for my extensive home renovation over the last three years…read more I had Shayn replace all of the aging copper plumbing with Pex flexible plumbing lines, install three new gas lines, install my Rinnai tankless hot water system, a new gas logset in my fireplace, and all of the drains and fixtures in my new bathroom. Shayn is always on-time, fast, and is a second-generation plumber who knows his stuff. He's trade-certified and can pull permits with the City of Vancouver (my job was fully-permitted). If you need an honest and reliable plumber, look no further. The first time I had Shayn do work for me, he said he'd ride his bike over to take a look. I got concerned --- is this guy 12 years old or what? It turns out he's a competitive cyclist...and yes, he's got a fully-equipped truck too :)

He now is not returning phone calls to discuss the situation. We made the mistake of paying him for the work before passing the inspection, which he has taken advantage of by deciding not to complete the work. We will pursue this next with the better business bureau, but in the meantime, be warned!
