A quick glance, and you can see if anything was left. There are outlets and usb ports aplenty. I (as a seasond traveler) would recommend carrying a nightlight for the bathroom. This comes in handy in many hotels. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. I will look for the Avid brand in the future.

From the outside, the hotel looked brand new and had lots of parking. As you stepped inside, you entered into a large lobby area with lots of seating and dining tables. At the front was a small check-in desk and at the back was the complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, microwave, as well as where the 'grab'n'go' breakfast is located. The room itself is basic but room enough and has all the basic amenities. As you opened the door, on the left was the entrance to the bathroom and after that was a storage rack with a place to store you luggage on top as well as hooks with hangers to hang your stuff on. Next to that was a small section which contained a small ironing board, and underneath the luggage rack was a fridge as well as cubby hotels with additional storage and the iron. The bathroom was also a decent size and contained a sink with counter space, a toilet, and a small stand-in shower. The shower was the only thing that looked small and prefabricated (and thus a bit cheap) but overall the bathroom was decent and had Dove toiletries next to the sink (hand wash and lotion) as well as in the shower (body wash, shampoo and conditioner). The bed was located along the left side of the wall and I had a king-size room which the bed size and comfort were decent and provided a good nights sleep. On either side of the bed were two small nightstands with plugs as well as USB ports on either side. Across from the bed, along the right side of the wall, contained additional hooks to hang your jacket/clothes, a TV mounted along the wall, and a long desk underneath that along with a TV-tray/mini table underneath the big table. The big table was great to do work as well as eat and the mini-table provided extra storage for the work and food. Overall, the room was a decent size, comfortable, had the basic amenities that a guests need, and provided a good nights sleep. The hotel does provide additional amenities for the guests including complimentary parking, complimentary wifi, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate available all the time, grab'n'go breakfast, pool as well as a gym. I was only there for a little while so only experienced the complimentary parking (lots of spaces) and the complimentary wifi which was strong and was able to connect multiple devices. Had I stayed longer I would've enjoyed the complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate, the fitness facility as well as the breakfast. Overall, it was a nice hotel with lots of amenities and services for the guest. The room was comfortable, provided a good nights sleep, and the wifi was strong.

Pros: The staff are very nice The on site restaurant serves decent food The hotel has never been super packed and is typically quiet Free parking onsite The beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever stayed in. Seriously. I travel 1-3 times a month for my job so I'm in hotels A LOT and these beds are seriously so cozy. Fluffiest duvets I have EVER seen in a hotel The room is pretty and clean The hotel feels sort of like a resort hotel with big giant windows and a calm vibe Cons: I noticed the first time I stayed that the housekeeping closet on our floor was wide open and reeked of cigarettes. I laughed bc it was next to a giant "no smoking" sign. I did NOT notice any cigarettes smell my second visit anywhere in the hotel, but if the management could be stricter about enforcing no smoking on the premises this would likely be helpful The shower in the first room I stayed in was a bit dated and I noticed the caulking on the tiles likely needed to be replaced. Both times I've stayed, I've also noticed the shower heads have buildup on them that was not addressed my housekeeping. It looks like the shower heads have built up hard water residue and either a) need to be soaked in some sort of solution regularly or b) need to be replaced more often. They are modern looking, but the gunk buildup restricted the water flow and just looked sort of icky Overall, the cleanliness issues I've found have been very minor and limited to just a dated bathroom. To be honest, I haven't been very impressed with ANY hotels I've stayed at in Richmond, so my standards for this city unfortunately are quite low. If the Westin can update the issues with their caulk and shower heads, I think they will be in a good spot. Overall, I'd likely stay here again.

I checked in around 9:30/10 PM, showered, and eased into bed. As always, the heavenly bed did not disappoint and lulled me to sleep. I woke up, feeling relaxed and refreshed but famished. I perused the room service menu and settled on the forager's omelette with breakfast potatoes and an oat milk latte. Within 20 minutes, I received a knock on the door, and a kind lady entered my room to set everything up for me. Everything was absolutely delicious from top to bottom. The omelette was brimming with fresh veggies and goat cheese. It was super filling. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, and the oat milk latte was prepared wonderfully. As always, a great experience at the Westin. I will definitely be back.

We had the most amazing time and were impressed with the care and the level of detail that we witnessed throughout every aspect of our stay. The breakfasts were incredible and we loved being able to make our own espresso and tea - delicious. Casey and her family went above and beyond throughout our entire experience - we felt very comfortable and welcomed! We hiked the beautiful property and loved visiting the goats since they were so friendly & adorable. The Lincoln Suite provided beautiful, spacious, comfortable luxury accommodations for the 3 of us. We would visit again in a heartbeat! We really appreciated the opportunity to learn more about/personalize early American history by learning about the Mayhurst Estate's origins as James Madison's grand-nephew's estate adjoining Montpelier. If you're thinking about visiting the Mayhurst Estate, we'd highly recommend it and will come back as often as we can. It's a special place; a total oasis from the hectic pressures of everyday life.

The idea of themed stays seems dreamy, they just aren't there yet in fulfilling what they claim. They did not always follow their own advertised agenda nor did they always provide the home made refreshments and such as stated. The rooms are stuffy as none of the windows are able to open to receive fresh air when needed. Also found certain areas not to be quite kept up on cleanliness. There were many mornings where the coffee area was not restocked nor cleaned from the day before. The communication was spotty and lacking as well. Understanding it is a lot to run such a place, there is definitely more to be done to really have the experience that is advertised on social media. Otherwise it was just "smoke and mirrors" for the most part.

While it was very cold out and the cabin we booked's heat was out, the staff were all incredibly friendly and jumped to make our experience amazing. As soon as we reported the heat not working, maintenance was sent down and a portable heater was put in. The cabin was very clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable and you couldn't hear anything from outside. It was so peaceful. The food was also amazing! Our first night we enjoyed the ribeye special (which was cooked to a perfect medium rare), venison stroganoff and a glass of the night sky (Shenandoah Cabernet Franc). We liked the wine so much we picked up a bottle from the shop. For breakfast before hiking, we chose the blackberry French toast and Stoney man breakfast along with coffee that was never allowed to be low. This was all so good we ordered the same the next morning along with an orange juice to go. For our second night, we had the short ribs, forrester pasta, blackberry lemonades and a blackberry cobbler that we had brought out in a box to save for later. On that second night, there was a bit of a back wait to be seated, but we think the staff handled it very well and as efficiently as possible. Overall, even with a few hiccups, we didn't have any complaints and are considering to make this a tradition for our anniversary.

Annual park fee is $35 and a better option if you come to the park often and pay for entrance. We were immediately impressed by the scenic drive, low traffic, and visitor center of the park. This is the least crowded national park we ever visited with so many trails to hike & explore. Bicyclists will love the immense bike routes and trails in this park. They engineered the roads with bicycle only paved roads beside the automobile road. Perfect for bicyclists. The visitor center was conveniently located by the Laurel Loop Trail and restroom areas. It was the first place we visited to get information for the park and a stamp for our national park passport book. The rangers were very helpful and showed us locations & trails we might be interested in seeing. We hiked two hours on the easiest trails in the Prince William National Park. We hiked the Laurel Loop Trail, the Birch Buff Trail, the Mary Byrd Branch Trail, the Quantico Falls Trail, and the North Valley Trail. The rugged terrain of some of these trails made it difficult to hike. I actually got holes in the heels of my old boots walking these trails. While we hiked we listened to birds on the trails and identified some birds we never heard before: Golden-crowned Kinglet, other unknown birds - etc. The Lauren Loop Trail had miniature Fairy Homes placed along the trail which was a delight to see. The Quantico Falls Trail was one of the smallest trails and winded down to the Quantico Creek & small waterfalls. We spent the most time in this area sitting on the large flat rocks on the creek watching the falls and the fish in the water. Proper hiking boots and socks are a definite must for these trails even the easiest trails. Prince William's Park has of the most difficult hikes we encountered despite going on the easiest trails we encountered yet it was one of the most memorable and enjoyable times we had hiking. Looking forward to coming back to this park.

Now those camp sites are available for rent and include a working mess hall and kitchen, two art camps, medic lounge, as well as bunks. My group and I literally had an entire summer camp at our disposal! We came in late April so we dealt with a lot of weather malfunctions, but the area truly is a beautiful space to get away from it all. There is no air conditioning in cabins, but hearing and feeling the wind howling outside was oddly comforting. We had so much space to spread out and run around which was super idyllic until several run ins with wolf spiders. When they say this place is historic ... they truly mean it. The main mess hall area is updated with not one but two walk in fridges/freezers and two fire places. But the medic room looked straight out of a horror film (five stars out of five if we were filming a scary movie!). We scheduled an orienteering tour with a ranger and she was absolutely so fun to work with! She was so patient and did a great job keeping our group of girls on track. The wolf spiders might stop us from scheduling a trip back into their cabins but my sister camps often in a tent and says the entire experience is lovely!
