The sites were level and fairly well maintained. The overall camp location is very large and offers a lot of sites with privacy. Some are very small and can't accommodate large vehicles or tents. Be sure to double check the pictures. The main road is well maintained but you must have a high clearance vehicle if the site calls for it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The bath house was clean and standard. They were in the process of painting it during our stay. One shower is available inside by the toilets and two are available in the rear (open roof top). Camp grounds have access to MTB trails - hilly and fun. If we came back to the area we would stay here again.

Its location is perfectly situated for mountain biking and/or hiking on Lookout Mountain, the North River, and is easy driving distance from other legendary trails like Reddish Knob. Booking is straightforward and easy, although their cancellation policies could be a sticking point for people coming from a long distance on a strict time frame. The owners are responsive and communicative, and very friendly and accommodating when it comes to booking groups. The restroom/shower facilities are clean and perfectly adequate- don't expect the Ritz, but they're great if you need a shower after a hard day of riding or hiking (and you didn't visit the swimming hole for some reason that I won't even try to understand.) The cabins are also clean and cozy- they'd be perfect for a family of four who are used to camping and close quarters. The tent sites are basic, with fire pits, picnic tables at most sites, and plenty of space for a few tents and hammocks. The campground also stands out for its super fun mountain biking trails that actually run through the campground. Whether you're a seasoned rider or a young kid, you'll have fun on them. The swimming hole at the bottom of the hill is a true gem- there's nothing like going for a dip in its cool waters in the middle of the summer. I've been to Stokesville twice in the past month and am looking for the slightest pretext to go again soon.

No having to lug your trash every day to the dumpster, just place it at the end of your site. There are bathrooms connected to the front office/store, there are two private restrooms w/handicap accessible shower seats on the left side of the park towards the back and another large bath house on the right side of the park with multiple stalls and showers. All which were always clean. There was even a dishwashing station with a 3 bin sink and hot and cold water. Especially good for tent campers so you don't have to lug a bunch of dirty dishes home. Next to the dish washing station there was also a dog washing station. How awesome is that. Most of the RV sites are pretty spacious and gravel underneath and all have a picnic table and fire ring. However, there are some that have a concrete pad and some of the deluxe sites even have a full grill, a raised brick fire pit w/grill grate and even a patio area chairs and a table. There is decent wifi and some sites have cable. There are two dumpsites on the way out of the park and even a fresh drinking water station near the tent campers area so you're not having to lug in water for your tent site. The store is open 9-5, 7 days a week. There are somes snacks/groceries, rv supplies, pet items, firewood, and there was even a slushie machine inside, and a large coffee machine with flavorings. During the cold months they have a fire roaring in the fireplace, so cozy. The last couple of days there they got in ice cream that you can buy by the scoop, in a cup or a cone. The orange sherbet was delicious. The staff members were so helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this camp ground to anyone staying in the area. Especially if you're planning on visiting Kings Dominion Amusement park. It was closed while we were there but opens in the summer months and they offer shuttle service to the park. Although we did not stay at the cabins they looked very nice from the outside and from the pics online. There was a dog park but it was all the way to the back left behind the tent sites, kind of out of the way. There is also a laundry room on site connected to the office. No need to try to make change and lug around a bunch of quarters. There is a machine that lets you swipe your debit card and choose the machines you want to use, very handy. There are 4 washers and 4 dryers. All of which worked very well for me. The area is very wooded. We came in the early spring and it was very nice, I can only imagine how beautiful it is when all the trees are full.

Family friendly diversity friendly. There's a shuttle service from the campground to Kings Dominion/Soak City. Over all it is a nice place to bring the family. If you don't have a camper and tenting is not for you, by all means rent a cabin. Today we seen several birthday parties. There is a place for churches to gather and groups. They host a Sunday service at 9 AM. The pool is open I believe 10 AM to 8 PM. It's a salt water is excellent for the skin. They offer games like volleyball, tether ball, giant checkers. They have a sitting area where you can watch television. Were those in HanoverCountyVA and #CarolineCountyVA come on over this is a place you want to camp. I hope those of you that read this review make the time to come here because whether you going to #KingsDominion #SoakCity or not you definitely want to spend time at this #campground.

I came with very low expectations due to very low price for the night. (We came during off season - freezing winter weekend.) and they gave us a refurbished room. Big deck overlooking the lake. Cathedral ceiling on the 2nd floor. It is very cold. The room heater took several hours to warm the room. My husband thinks if we had set it about 5 degrees warmer than we really wanted, it might have warmed up more quickly. I tried to change channels on the TV and we didn't have the correct remote, so the TV channel got stuck on trying to have us choose the proper language. The guy who was on duty (at the bait / fishing place - where we checked in), came in, tried it out, couldn't get it to work, then went to another room and got us one of the older TVs. (Which was a big TV also, but not a widescreen new one.) That TV worked fine; but then we couldn't use the remote to turn it on & off. (gasp!) (First World problems.) He was a nice guy and was very helpful. The way the building is oriented, you can't see East or West directly for seeing sunrise and sunset. (Darnit!) It was so cold, I didn't want to go outside to take pix over the lake to get the sunrise & sunset pix I really wanted over the lake. Still, I got good pix of different skies over the lake. Even got some seagulls flying overhead! That was pretty cool in freezing February!

They had a beautiful fireplace in the store, games for kids to play and coloring sheets for them as well. The amenities were amazing - the pool, the playground and the bathrooms were all well maintained and easily accessible. The best amenity however is the shuttle to and from Kings Dominion. We're season pass holders and get free parking, but we took advantage of this every day. They pick up every 15-30 mins and run all day from 30 mins before park opening to 30 mins after park closing. It's an air conditioned bus that picks you up and drops you off right at the entrance of the park. We will absolutely be back to this Koa and highly recommend.

You can buy tickets online, but it isn't likely necessary. A lot of the furnishings are original, even though Henry didn't live at the house very long. The tour guide went over the history of the Henry family, including the death of his first wife and remarriage. The guide reenacted Patrick Henry's famous "give me liberty or give me death" speech which was very engaging. The house tour only covers the first floor, but there are signs around for QR scans/additional audio for the outbuildings. They were a bit repetitive and sometimes speculative about things or people who may have lived there, so that was hit or miss. The gift shop was small but pleasant and there was plenty of parking. It is a bit off road, but it's worth the visit.

When the train arrived, we had a very easy onboarding process as well, and much to my surprise, the cabin was set up with tables and chairs rather than bus-like booths. This definitely made the experience much more enjoyable and special. Our host was Kimberly, who was upbeat, informative, and helpful. We were treated to complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and learned about the vestibule, where we would be met with open air during the train ride. The ride was about 45 minutes and was just so beautiful and enjoyable. Our train stopped in Gordonsville, where we were given 90 minutes to enjoy the town. There were multiple restaurants, gift shops, and other small shops to visit and patron of which we had been provided a map onboard. We stopped at the Welcome Center and learned about the town's rich history, and then we went to a restaurant. On our return journey, we were given the desserts that we had pre-selected during the booking process. Overall, 10 out of 10 experience. Everybody was kind, the process was smooth, and I would definitely not only go on this specific experience again, but would also enjoy the other experiences available through this company.
