It is a very nice campground. We stayed here for two nights. The first night was on our way south, and we stayed there on our return trip north. Unfortunately it rained both times while we were setting up camp for the evening. Our spot was very dark and very quiet overnight. There are restroom/ bathhouses conveniently located around the campground. The lake and beach is very nice and relaxing to walk around. There is a nice miniature golf course located around the middle of the property. There is some type of stage where it appears they must hold events. There is a playground for children along with a bounce thing. There is a refreshing looking pool in addition to the lake swimming at their little beaches. This campground is also pet friendly. The water pressure and electric was very good for our small camper. We picked up many channels reliably with our antenna. There is a little camping store that had a good selection of food, drinks, and camping needs. They also offered late check in, which we did need both times. And I apologize to our neighbors in the tents next to us on our second stay there. I did my best to keep the noise down as we settled into our site and got ready for bed around 10:30pm. Each site contained a picnic table and a fire ring. Now for the shortfalls. Unfortunately it seems the majority of sites are on a grade. The first night I was able to get more or less level, the second time, it poured down rain very heavy for the entire night as soon as we got backed into our site. Not only that. I didn't want to disturb our neighbors anymore than we did by disconnecting the trailer and leveling it. The sites that we reserved were really for tents but work for a small camper as well. But they are very tight and close to each other. The other issue we had with the second site was the water and electricity hook ups were too far away on the wrong side to use without an extension cord or a long water hose. Thankfully we didn't have a neighbor on the connection side, so I used the neighboring site utilities. Cell phone service in the area is very spotty and unreliable including the second site we had. The prices were a little higher than many of the other similar campsites we have stayed at. Although it seemed to be on par with the other campground prices along the US 15 corridor in VA and NC. All in all I still would stay there again and recommend it to friends and family. It also appears they are still making improvements to make the experience there even better. read more

Small Country Campground, My family and I had a blast this weekend. We wanted to extend our thanks and let you know we plan to return. My brother and I both towed our campers (we each have 2 daughters) and stayed at sites orange 3 and orange 9 this weekend. Our two families enjoyed staying at your campground: The cousins all had blast riding bikes (thank you for keeping traffic slow) and enjoyed the air-pillow, fishing, mini-golf, hiking, playground, and even karaoke at the song shed. My brother and I grew up camping and we are excited to pass the tradition on with our kids.  We talked about how great your campground was while we played horseshoes on saturday afternoon, while the kids bounced around. We also really appreciate the work you are doing with "upgrades", it is very evident that Small Country is going to transform over time. The remodeled bath house by the camp store was amazingly clean and in working order! read more

Wish I could give negative stars! Sorry for the long post. DO NOT GIVE SMALL COUNTRY IN LOUISA YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! As many know we are full-time RVrs. So from time to time we move to different locations. When it came time to move again we checked with many places. Always checking new locations. So we decided to give Small Country in Louisa VA a try! When we called we were 1st told that our camper was too old. When I asked why I was told something about electric issues. So I explained that I have a custom camper due to my wheelchair and newer campers were not capable of meeting these needs. The lady took my info and said she would have the owner call me. When Robert called he explained that they were trying to keep the park looking nice. Which is the reason for the policy of no older campers. Which is far from accurate. When we road through we saw very dated campers with old weathered tattered awnings and skirting. Clearly been there for years. Cluttered other spots. So definitely not out of our rigs league by far! But Wait....what....I thought it was an electric issue So explaining why I have an older rig he had even more excuses. Even claimed that he "would have to make something up" to justify why I was able to have an older camper there....Wait what....aren't you the owner When I simply stated that all he needed to say was its a custom accessible camper. He then stated no I can't. Wait why not? So telling people the truth isn't an option? There are accommodations made for us with disabilities daily that would go against regular policies. I even offer to send him pictures so he knew we weren't bringing in an old clapper. All he could do was make excuses. When I brought to his attention the level of abilism he exhibited he just made more excuses. So essentially I was denied a stay do to the need for specialized equipment. Needless to say if he called back and offered us a place for free I wouldn't stay. read more

For a place that touts its family friendly nature, after multiple cabins call about another cabin playing WAP (etc.) LOUDLY and having a 20 person party up until 950 at night, you do NOT wait for 30 minutes when quiet hour is supposed to kick in to do something (which appeared to be the bare minimum required). Looking forward to explaining new vocab to the kids in the morning, assuming the pot fumes don't do us in first. read more

We stayed at this campground for a few months. Overall, the campground is nice and peaceful. The owners did a great job keeping us posted on what was going on during our stay. When we had a leak with outside water, they has someone come over to help within 10 minutes. Also, when our grandkids came to visit and we asked if they would blow up the pillow, they always tried to meet our request. read more

Lots of activities for kids and a somewhat grungy lake. Many or most sites are dirt and not level. Poor AT&T mobile signal at this location. Wi-fi, though plentiful, is slow. The main women's shower by the pool was boarded up and the secondary bath house was shabby with no place to put one's clothing. The clubhouse should be avoided unless you really, really need a clubhouse. Service was unnecessarily taciturn--old school in an unwelcoming way. Due to a change in our plans, we needed to leave one day early. Even though we informed the desk first thing in the morning, they would not refund our site fee. read more

Lots of activities for kids. Mini golf was awesome. We tent camped. Sites were not level which wasn't that big of a deal but the issue was how close they were together. You are literally a couple of feet away from the next persons set up. Children were running around unsupervised all day and night. I'm talking children no older than 5! The people next to us even left all four of the kids ages 6 to 6 months outside while they were inside doing god knows what for a long time while their kids called their names (not the campgrounds fault) It wasn't all bad that's why I gave it three stars but I would not recommend or return. read more

We have been camping here every summer for a few years now and we absolutely love it. We've stayed on the tent lots and in the trailers. Both we've had great experiences. The people are super nice. There is a TON of fun stuff for kids to do. The lake has lots of lake toys, they have a jumping pillow, playgrounds, water balloon station, mini golf , a pool and much more. We've been just to camp and we've also attended several events. They always make us feel at home. The only issue we've ever had is with other guests not watching their kids in the pool. That's not the campgrounds fault but still incredibly annoying especially when they were bothering my kids! For the price it's a good time! We will definitely continue to support this business. It's become sort of a tradition. We love spending our summer weekends at Small Country. Definitely recommend if you have children! read more

From first glance this place seems to be great. Looks are deceiving for sure. Our campsite was riddled with nails, screws, bolts and all sorts of broken pieces of who knows what. The fire pit at the site beside ours (site was vacant) was filled with beer bottles, cans and trash absolutely disgusting. The people who live in there are rude and make awful comments about guests. One said our daughter even looked like a boy! This made our children incredibly uncomfortable. (We are a LGBT family) I wouldn't reccomend this location for other lgbt families. The 11 pm quiet time rule is total B.S. people revving engines, bass turned all the way up and in and out of the campground all night long. I was woken up at 3 am by all the commotion. The cabin across from us had a huge party where people parked their vehicles on our site, blocking our vehicle. We had booked 5 additional days a couple months away when we booked this past weekend not knowing what the location was like. After our terrible weekend we cancelled only to be charged a 25$ cancellation fee!!! I could understand if it were within 48 hrs of arrival but we are talking months in advance we cancelled. We always try to support small family businesses but this is one we will not support or visit again. read more

Thought they accepted big rigs, and they do...but it's rough getting in, very rough. The pull throughs work only if there isn't someone already there in half of it (two sites on each one). Other large sites were very unlevel. The owner was arrogant, but the young woman in the store was quite nice and tried to help us. County road crews also need to trim the trees on the approach roads. Don't follow the GPS, call ahead first if you have a big rig and toad. Or better yet, don't bother. I shall not return. read more

This is a very popular campground and now I understand why. There are so many activities for young and old alike . There are bass, crappie and catfish in the lake . Playgrounds, bounce pillows, and lake toys too . They recently finished a new 18 hole mini- golf course. Waterfalls and trees. Good one. We have a pull through "super site". It sits on top of a hill. Quite lovely. These spaces are surprisingly level (we're in Red 3). Spaces are huge . If you need to discon before platzing, it's worth it. We are in a 2014 Winn. Adventurer with tow. I love this campground but after my recent interaction, or rather lack of, I'm left with a bad taste for their business skills. I was there with a large group back in June and had to use their"overflow parking" which was a field loaded with stumps and rocks. Severe damage was done to my car's exhaust system and after messaging the campground about it, I received nothing, not even an apology. I'm not asking for compensation as much as a solution towards improvement. I have been going to this event for 5 years and generally love this venue. Hopefully they get their act together and repair this issue. read more

Second visit and very disappointed in the unfriendliness of two female workers. I do not let my kids roam unattended like many kids in the park and we were told the water balloon area was off-limits unless weekends while I was actually picking up all the water balloons and trash from previous campers. There were no signs saying the area was closed and we were being quiet and not crazy like the kid biking on their mini-golf course that no-one seemed to care to correct. Just filling up our own water balloons and cleaning up all our pieces and extra pieces. Our whole visit, I spent helping clean up trash all around the campground. read more

One of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed at. Lots of things for kids (even if we don't have any with us). Very quiet and everyone is so friendly. Super sites to allow 2 RV's in one site. If we lived closer we would definitely return again and again! read more

I can see the points from all the reviewers, good and bad. The sites are not all level (ours was VERY unlevel) but I honestly feel like that's part of camping. We were staying on a wet weekend and management was very nice about moving our campsite to a larger, upgraded spot on top of the hill (where it would be less muddy) at no charge at all to us. I have never had a campground (1) plan and change site proactively based on knowledge of area and predicted weather conditions and (2) not charge for an upgraded site. You get mini golf for free when you camp (this is not clearly identified in the info anywhere, but is an AWESOME perk. Yes, there are some more dilapidated areas (maybe not even part of the campground? It borders on others' property and that may explain it? The common areas on the campground (beach area, jumpy pillows, playgrounds, manor house and green areas) were all well kept and very pleasant. The sites were also neat enough (typical of campgrounds IMO). Our experience was comparable to chains like KOA, with far more personalized customer service!! (Note: camp store is small and there is no ATM. You can exchange propane tanks but they cannot fill your RV tanks...you can go to the local Tractor Supply - about 6 miles away). read more

This campground was good for us. The staff was friendly. Gave me a choice of sites, we took red 17 as it was on the end of the road--on the map. This one is known as a super site but that's not for the size. I think it just means it has a full hook up with cable and 50 amp It's not a pull through though you can only pull through if there's no one on the site behind you as they're tandem sites.She told me to pull through 16 to get to 17. We drive lost around the park two times as the roads aren't marked and the landmarks on the map weren't accurate. We did find the site and we overlook a field/lake with no other campers. It was a nice long level site. There is a hook up for site 19, Although that site would be on the road so they must not use it anymore. When We took a walk, We saw that the campground is mostly seasonals or people who are lucky enough to live in their campers while working. Many of the seasonal sites had a lot of stuff gathered around their units which never makes for a nice looking campground. The store is small but well-stocked, we don't use the bath houses so I'm not sure how they were. The playground looked nice, the mini golf look nice, all in all the kids would most likely have a good time here as there are several different things for them to do throughout the park. It looked a little rundown but for the price it was OK. For us our site was the best because as I said we overlooked the lake/ field with no other campers in sight. On a clear night we could actually see the Milky Way. TV was good and we have a Wi-Fi booster which works great so we were able to access the Internet easily. We stayed in a Super Site with our 5th Wheel. It was so narrow that the slides were up against trees on both sides. The site sloped down hill so bad that my hitch pin needed to be 6 feet in the air to be level. The site next to me was better even though the guest that arrived there could not get their 5th wheel close to level and had to find another spot. The next day the cable guy/ fire truck driver /tractor driver was a total douche about where my truck was parked and told me to move it. We decided that we had just picked a bad spot booking on line and looked around for some better sites for the July 4th weekend, Luck would have there were two sites next to each other on top that looked level and we booked them. Should have known there was a reason they were available, ALL THE HOOK UPS WERE ON THE WRONG SIDE. What were they thinking. The dump point for my site was uphill from my trailer. S does not go up hill. I know some will say it was designed to pull through, but if you did that you would open your RV doors on top of your neighbors pedestal and dump point. I or anybody I know will never go back and this review is just a warning to first timers. There are obviously folks there that love it. read more

We first came to this campground 5 years ago and it was lovely. There was a nice older couple that ran the campground all staff were super friendly. It was apparent the owners were investing their heart and sole into making this an awesome campground. We came multiple times every year for the next 3 years and enjoyed it very much. After a 2 year break we decided to come back. I'm guessing the campground was sold because WOW have things changed. Now there are delapitaed campers with tarps to stop leaks. One camper had their cable running from a sattelite dish through the trees 100 -150 feet. There are lots of campers who are out of state workers. We don't mind that but some of their sites were unkepted. The bathhouse floors were soft and nearly rotted through. They are working on clearing land which is good but the crew started working at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday right behind our camper. The owner needs to decide if they want a campground or a trailer park. read more

Worst campground ever!!! We went there for Labor Day weekend checked in drove to site ( unaccompanied and no signs letting you know where sites are), got to site was up against a cabin on one side and if I would have put the slide out on the other side it would have been over top of another campers fire( which they just let u build anywhere). All kids were unsupervised and people flew down gravel road, roads were too small and whole place just looked dirty and overcrowded. So we ended up not even unhooking the camper just sat in truck googled other campgrounds luckily found 1 with a cancelation about 48 miles away so we just left didn't get money back just figured that was the price of a lesson learned!!! SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED don't pay for the same lesson I got! read more

Stayed there for an outage. Staff was very friendly. Laundry was always broke. Internet sucked. Priced a little higher than I was thinking. Waited 10 days to get cable. I think it was only ok. But again the staff was very good. Lots of things to do for kids and adults alike. The place has a well meaning feeling to it. read more
