On Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026 I went to the Alpha Computer Center for the first time. What brought me there was my Apple i-Phone 14 froze while downloading an updated IOS software the night before. Now, if you are like me, you use your smart phone for everything. I freaked out at first, then remembered that I also had an i-Pad and could either text or use Face Book Messenger/ Face Book; to alert family/friends that I would not be available as my i-Phone was frozen. I had also canceled our family land line at our house so this i-Phone was the ONLY phone I had. I was able to wait (about 1/2 hour) while they re-booted my i-Phone and made sure that the new IOS software was downloaded correctly. Apparently my i-Phone was caught in a "loop" and the total amount I had to pay was only $56.35. They were very professional, helpful and understanding of my anxiety about my i-Phone 14. This is the only place I will bring my Apple devices (i-Phone 14 and i-Pad) They are an Apple Authorized Repair Center. Thanks So Much Alpha! They gave me an accurate time estimate, and when I returned a few hours later, my device was ready and in better shape than I'd even hoped for. Alpha Computer Center is one of only two certified repair places in the Tri-Cities. I had a piece of charging stuck in my charging port, and they were able to remove it without any issue or my port. I was going to go to another certified repair place, but they my login and password information, etc. I was hesitant to give them that information. Additionally, the other repair place wanted my device to be fully charged. That was kind of hard to do when I couldn't put a charger in the port. I took my laptop in for 'servicing' in 2024. The young lady who assisted me informed me that the computer really did not need to be worked on if it was functioning satisfactorily. Also, that Apple had stopped supporting that machine, so I needed to begin looking for a new one. In 2025, I took the laptop back to get my data saved to an external hard drive. Unfortunately, I had an erroneous idea of what Time Machine does. A young employee, Brian, patiently went over what TM actually does & does not do, then [for their basic fee], helped me get my old laptop properly backed up. I appreciate the help I received and the fact that the information from my old laptop is safely on an external hard drive now. read more

I cannot say enough GREAT things about this Computer repair team. I had initially taken my computer to a tech person that said I needed to get a new laptop to accommodate a 3rd party Software I use. I decided to pay the small fee just to have these guys confirm it. They were able to upgrade the software AND utilize the 3rd party software saving me 1800.00-2500.00 dollars. Recently too my computer to them to repair after I attempted to upgrade the system and in the process lost power just after the phase of erasing and reformatting the hard drive. So I no longer had access to my internal hard drive. Any way they fixed everything, Completed the upgrade for me and and using my back up external drive gave me back everything. Nothing was lost. The only reason I gave them a 2-star review was because I felt they mislead me. I was under the impression that the repair of my iPhone 8+ screen would be approx $260.00. I cost me over $310. Also, they gave me a 24 hour turn-around on my phone yet it took them 48 hours to complete. As far as Alpha Computers Technical proficiency my phone has never worked better. ~ IN LOVING MEMORY ~ Macbook Pro Born Feb. 15, 2006 Died Jan. 11 2012 512Mb Memory, 80Gb hard drive, dying battery, missing right "shift" key Yes, I recently experience a sudden loss. Yes, she was ancient. Yes, she was slow. Yes, people made fun of me because of her. But she got the job done...until that fateful snowy winter day. (well, I don't think she's dead. She has some "kernel" issues). Either way, I was honestly already contemplating an upgrade---I just wasn't expecting it to happen on my computer's terms! My only issue: retrieving all of my data. With an external drive & the measly 80Gb, I had all of my music and many many photos and videos. I was freakin' and was scared about losing it. A quick Google search lead me to Alpha Computer Center (in the Uptown Center). I called them and explained my situation. My first thought was to try and fix the computer, they said they would need to look at it, but could probably remedy the situation. I also thought about just transferring everything on the hard drives to a new computer, and they said they could also help with that. They calmed my nerves, and consoled me with my loss. I ended up getting a Mac Mini overnight, and decided to transfer the files myself. I went to Alpha to get a fire-wire cable and a wireless keyboard. The shop is actually really cool. It's located on one of the internal cross-ways of the Uptown (so it's hard to see from the parking lot. I don't know if Apple is all they sell here, but they certainly have lots of Apple products. There is a little show room and they have some pretty cool looking Apple stuff on display. After wiping the slobber from my mouth, I asked for the special cable I needed (fire-wire for a new Mac Mini to a Macbook dinosaur). I then asked about a keyboard. They actually had an open box wireless keyboard and sold it at a discount. For all intents and purposes it had never been used----so it was a steal, and I totally snagged it. If you have issues with any of your Apple products, this is the place to go (since we don't have any Apple Stores within a few area codes). There have several technicians on staff, and you can see their work stations where they resuscitate and pimp up computers. There are also several certificates on display showing their prowess at their trade. So basically this joint has mad skills! I went to the Sprint store to get my screen on my iPhone fixed and they said it wouldn't be back for 10 days minimum and then to Best Buy and they said they just flat out wouldn't be able to replace the screen for me so I went here and then knocked it out in a day and got me a great case to keep my phone screen from cracking in the future. I recently had a GPU go out on my Macbook pro. I called Apple, and they sent me to Alpha computers. These guys are great. They get the job done quickly and with great communication. I also started asking about their other products, and how I could set up my Mac better at home. They were great with the free advice. It is such a warm and inviting place you just want to go there and hang out. As an extra bonus, they let my kids feed their cute little dog. I highly recommend these guys. Hopefully we never get an Apple Store in the Tricities, because they could never serve us as well. read more

When I brought my Macbook Pro in they hooked it up (charged over $80 to do so) and said I had no hard drive problems, but they'd take a closer look. Next day I get a call saying my hard drive is the problem. They later said the battery also needed replaced, which I said was fine. When I returned to pick up my computer and old battery, they had taken it for themselves and said I could not have it because I did not ask for it. Apparently exchange of personal property is a given when you use their business. The "manager" in sort of a self absorbed way, acted as if this was common and that I was beneath them for even asking about it. Finally, after spending $500 to keep my old Pro running, it runs slower than ever and I don't have any place in town to take it, since I don't feel like using Alpha again. read more

These cats know their Apple products! Every time I've brought my Mac or Time Machine in, they've known exactly what to do and had a good understanding of how long repairs would take. They have always been very respectful of my desire to not be computerless for long. There are a few of the employees who know a bit more than others, so ask lots of questions if you're not sure they're giving you the right answer. The better employees will be able to answer all your questions. The less knowledgeable employees know enough to ask questions when they aren't sure of an answer. Apple support sent me here to restore my iPad. I had tried restoring at home and followed all steps up to trying a different computer to restore on. Alpha rep told me they would just return it to Apple and charge me for a new one. I asked why a restore couldn't be attempted. Rep told me they would charge $50 to just plug it in to see if a restore was possible, what is that, $50 for a 3 minute check to see if repairs were possible? 2 stars for being very polite while telling me this line of BS. read more

Went into the store after going into multiple stores looking for an external Cd/DVD drive for my Pc. Object is outdated so Walmart doesn't carry them anymore. And when I was out of luck I saw Alpha Computer Center in the uptown. I wasn't hesitant to ask at first since hey mainly operate with Macs. But was gladly surprised to the owner/manager (I think) and he said hold one one second and went to the back. He had one pc compatible drive and said that if I had the proper cord I could have it for free. So I took it home, and thought I'd write this review. Thanks man, appreciate everything. ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY!!!! If you like to waste your hard earned money, then they are your people! I've spent over $200 for them to "fix" a few things- update my virus software, and to fix my Skype. They are the worst! Now my laptop is even slower than before they laid their hands on it, Skype still doesn't work, AND they erased basically EVERYTHING on my laptop including Word! DO NOT GO TO ALPHA!! I say that Alpha was a family owned business who was certified in MACs. So I decided this was a good place to go and support to get my computer tuned up. I sent my working computer to Alpha where they diagnosed that it needed a new key board and RAM, which I agreed to. After one long week of me calling them, they have managed to make my computer not work. It now can not turn on and they are saying I need a 500 dollar part. I had NO problems with turning on my computer before. Not only did they break my computer, but the manager was extremely rude on the phone and did not utter a single word of apology. I am disgusted with the service. I understand things can go wrong, but there is a way to handle it. By fixing what you ruin. I put my computer in working and slightly slow, and got it back not working....and they charged me 80 dollars. DO NOT GO TO ALPHA!!! read more

Recently I had problems with a Macbook Pro. I took it to Alpha, paid the $85 fee for diagnosis. After a few days, they said that it needed a new logic board, and the repairs would be $2000: that's right, two thousand dollars. Figuring I now owned a brick, I ordered a Macbook Air from them. My daughter was in town, and she lives near a real Apple store, and she is quite knowledgable about Macs, so she took it there for me. Total fix: new logic board, top case, and keyboard, cost: $1100, including tax and labor, no diagnosis fee. So I called Alpha and cancelled the Air, and they charged me a $246 restocking fee. Therefore, when one of my Macs has trouble, I will get it to a real Apple store. If I need a new mac, I'll order it online from Apple. I see there are quite a few good reviews here, and I am happy that those who wrote them feel well treated, but I would be very careful in dealing with these folks. Get a second opinion for sure. read more

We asked a different professional company and they told us they shouldn't be charging us that much, and we should find a new place. The power cord on my MacBook Air wasn't working and, since we don't have an Apple Store in the Tri Cities, it was going to take a week to get a replacement from Apple. Having purchased a different computer from Alpha a number of years ago, I knew they are an Apple Authorized dealer, so I took my computer and cord in to see if they could help me. In less than a half hour I walked out with a new cord. Since they honored my AppleCare Protection Plan, I paid nothing! The people who helped me were knowledgeable, kind, and efficient.
