I've been to alpaca multiple times but this was my first time at this location. This location was spacious and there was plenty of parking in the shared lot out front. Inside there were several tables and booths with a self-serve fountain drink machine in the rear. The soda that I initially got was flat. The next beverage that I got was better. We've been wanting to try Alpaca for awhile, especially after hearing about their sauces. We visited the Raleigh location though there is one closer to us in Wake Forest. When we arrived, we had to take some time to decipher the menu from afar. The staff weren't very friendly or helpful. The two guys at the counter were looking at each other and laughing as we were ordering, which was rude and uncomfortable. We checked out and I ordered an horchata and my husband ordered an Inca cola. The process went through and then he was told they were out of Inca cola even though there were bottles and cans around the kitchen, just not cold. They wouldn't offer those, I guess it was for display only? Checking out took forever because they had to issue a refund and they didn't know how. I did enjoy the chicken, especially with the yellow sauce, though I enjoyed the green as well. The sides were just okay. My husband's pollo saltado was delicious but the chicken wasn't the same as mine, which mine was much better. The horchata was really good. I wasn't crazy about our experience here but we might try the one in Wake Forest one day and see if we get better service. We definitely won't be back at this Raleigh location. read more

Didn't get a chance to photograph all the food I got because we were too hungry! I went with the quarter chicken dark meat, white rice and beans, add tostones. The food is delicious and well seasoned, portions are smaller than I would have liked for the price. Also have to pick rice and beans as two separate sides forces your hand to add on more food. My food was premade so I got it immediately but the tostones came out later, fresh and crispy. For dessert I ordered to the Alfajores, they quite literally melt in your mouth, shortbread like texture with a caramel in the middle. And a Colombian soda. I am visiting a friend in the area. We stopped to get a quick bite to eat. It's located in a shopping plaza. There is plenty of parking available. This is the first time I try it. I loved the Hispanic style grilled chicken. The portions are generous. It is a fast food setting with the benefit of a healthier meal. I found the pricing to be decent. The order taker was polite but it was hard to hear him over the glass wall and very loud music. I had to ask him to repeat himself at least 3 times. They do not offer recyclable utensils. I was a little weary about that because they are left out in the open where everyone grabbing them is touching the others. With very little sauce, the fries should have been crispy but there weren't but a handful. They needed another dip in the oil. The steak was I don't how to describe it but gummy. We went on New Year's Eve. It was about 5:15 pm. People had been in line waiting then they told 1 customer that they are out of chicken. He told the rest of us who had been waiting. I have been sleeping on Alpaca!! I recommend that you do not sleep on it too. The chicken is oh so good! Not super salty and so full of flavor. I love that as soon as you walk in your nose is filled with the aroma of fresh grilled chicken. They chop it right there in front of you and the sides are pipping hot. The two yellow and green sauces are on the side by the drinks and make the chicken pop even more. I literally could eat the yellow sauce with everything. It has a hint of spice and is a little sweet. Whereas the green sauce is spicer, but oh so yummy. Mix these two and you have a great balance of heat and sweetness. One drawback was it did take a while for me and most of the customers get their additional sides. I ordered the tostones and it took over 15 minutes to get them and unfortunately they got cold fast. The staff is very friendly, and they will talk with you and have a convo as you order, which is nice compared to the stuck up places that don't like to talk with customers. Me and my wife came here while we were in town visiting a friend, and we just love the atmosphere of the restaurant. The chicken is amazing, and my wife called the skin meat candy. She usually hates chicken skin, but loves theirs. They have a large stuffed animal Alpaca in the lobby, which is fun to take a picture with it. The decor was nice too. Their Horchata was super tasty. I love the food at Alpaca! Everything is flavorful and well cooked, and the sides are delicious with lot of options. I especially love the chicken soup and the steak salad, but I would eat literally anything on the menu quite happily. The restaurant is popular, so I tend to order takeout online to avoid having to wait in line and the ambiance of the dining area itself is nothing special (standard fast food restaurant with booths and tables) but the food is worth the wait and a full dining area when we want to eat in the restaurant. I ordered curbside (which I've done before), got a text saying it was ready waited 10 mins, the car in front of me got their food.
