Aloydee's is located in a space with other food vendors along Kamehameha Ave near Hilo Farmers Market. There are lots of stalls along Kamehameha Ave, but you may need to be patient, especially on weekends. The space that Aloydee's is in was pretty empty when I went on a Saturday afternoon, and there were also seats inside. I ordered a pineapple curry with tofu and brown rice. I love pineapple but never had it in curry before! It was a refreshing curry, and I will definitely be on the hunt for pineapple curry from now on. The worker made the food fresh, so it stayed hot for a long time. The only complaint I had is that she put chicken instead of tofu inside, and I don't like chicken! But I totally understand, since maybe she misheard me, and people make mistakes all the time. Overall great food, but don't forget to check what's in your container! read more

Came to this Thai place near Hilo farmers market inside the food court. It's more like a 3.5 star in my opinion. The last took our order of Pad Thai and Pineapple fried rice and made it right away. Both were okish. Price point was cheap for Hawaii. It's a pretty small food court shared with just two other restaurants. There were two other folks who seemed to really enjoy their Thai curries and seemed like regular visitors. read more

Ended up here for lunch on the way to Hawaii Volcano's National Park. Great choice! My party had the pineapple fried rice, pad Thai and green curry. The food came out piping hot and it was really tasty. The green curry had eggplant, long beans, and chicken and on top of brown rice, it's was satisfying. Portions aren't huge but should satisfy most. I would come back again. read more

Surprised to find an EXCELLENT THAI CUISINE outside LA and SF! My wife favorite Thai dish is Yellow Curry. Aloydee's was the very best ever! We were at the Hilo farmer's market which is just steps from Aloydee's and after seeing all the beautiful produce I couldn't resist a lunch full of vegetables. I ordered the red curry pineapple lunch plate with chicken. Yum! For $8 you can't get something more packed with veggies and flavor - broccoli, onions, peppers, zucchini, carrots and of course pineapple. As I waited for my lunch to be made the owners daughter chatted with me, complimenting my earrings and sunglasses. She was about 8 and told me she tried to give people compliments every day. My family ate here twice during our 5 day stay on the big island. Everyone in our group agreed the Tom Kah soup was fantastic: the coconut broth was so rich and flavorful, and had heaps of veggies. The papaya salad was also great and recommendable, though it was a bit heavy on the peanuts. It's cash only, however an ATM is conveniently located nearby. read more

This is my favorite place to get quick Thai food. I get food here at least once a week. They are at the Hilo Farmers Market Wednesdays and Saturday's, but open other days in the alley way next door with a bigger menu available there. I LOVE their curries. I have had the green curry and red curry. What I love about their curry is there's TONS of different veggies. The taste is amazing and always consistent. The only other thing is that the amount of rice is not enough for all the curry sauce they give so I always end up buying an extra scoop of rice which is only $1. I also love their pad Thai. I've had all of the different ones: Chicken, shrimp and the tofu. Unlike others I've tried, this one has flavor. When I need a cold treat, I also like to get Thai Ice Tea. $2.50 and so good. read more

Aloydee's is one counter in an odd little food court located on the bayfront in downtown Hilo. She shares the space with an icecream vendor, a sushi chef, a fish restaurant, a coffee vendor, etc. It's counter service, served in takeout containers, but there are cafe tables you can sit at. It was a one-woman show when we ate there... she takes your order and prepares it fresh for you, so it may take a few minutes. She was very likeable, friendly, and neat, and the food was delicious and affordable. I had a green papaya salad with avocado for $6.50 and my crazy friend had summer rolls with tofu and peanut sauce for $6. Then he proceeded to pull out all the tofu out of his rolls and put it on my salad because he doesn't eat tofu. "Why did you order it?" I asked.... "because I knew you'd want it" was the answer. Anyway, the menu is small and focuses on salads, summer rolls, and some curries, pad thai, and two soups... all with your choice of tofu, chicken, or shrimp. Prices are $6-$8...nothing is above $8. Thai iced tea and coffee are $2, bottled water $1. My friend said his summer rolls (de-tofu'd) were very good. My green papaya salad with avocado also had cabbage, lime, hot peppers, the avocado was perfectly ripe.... soooo yummy and nicely spicy... a very generous portion... this place will be a new favorite for me... so much healthier for the same money as McDonalds!!! The best authentic Thai recipes in town! Best small spot to pick up and go or quick lunch sit down. We ordered their pad Thai, if you go wrong with pad Thai then you don't know pad Thai but Aloydee has got it down! Also, picked up the shrimp spring roll, wrapped up nicely with freshest veggies and the peanut sauce to dip in is on point. The cashew nut stir fry was also very rich and tasty. Service was very genuine and friendly. Wonderful easy spot for lunch if you're looking for a taste of Thai food. read more

I am from the Island of Oahu where there are many Thai Restaurants. So a Thai place in Hilo was just perfect. We ordered the Papaya Salad, Summer Roll Avocado, and Green Curry chicken. All dishes were so fresh and flavorful. I have never had avocado summer rolls before. But trying it here for the first time was definitely refreshing. The green curry was authentic and the chicken thigh was super tender. I will definitely recommend this place to any of my friends that visit. read more

If you want a decent Thai food, don't go here. Got the Thai green curry shrimp instead of chicken for 1$ extra. When I got the order it was 95% white rice, barely any curry and 3 shrimps and some vegetables. read more

Nasty! Purchased a Thai tea (2/28/18), drank the entire tea, and noticed something black at the bottom of my cup. There was a medium sized roach frozen in my ice cube, and a small one stuck on the inside of the cup. Gross. Never purchasing anything from this place again!!!! read more

You can never go wrong with the pad thai, perfectly coated and seasoned. Their red curry is perfect with a side of sticky rice (not included with curry order) and their eggplant stir fry was soft in a delectable sauce. Seriously can't go wrong with any options here. They also have alcoholic drinks, great sounding options but they have a heavy pour if you're into that.

The lrad-nar/gravynoodles dish while we requested a no heat dish, we did not expect a no spice dish which tasted overwhelmingly of vinegar. The "medium" (6/10) spiced pad kee mao was barely a 2/10 level. Both came with thin, dried, packaged noodles that were unappealing. The pad kee mao lacked real basil flavor and fresh elements and felt bland and bare-bones cafeteria style . The rad-nar was a salty, vinegary gravy and simply not edible. To top it off, locals began arguing and pulling other diners into the conflict, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. The wait staff who were asked to interview ran off and ignored issues. I simply can not recommend this restaurant.

Between the two of us, we ordered a bunch of items off the "small" section of the menu, including the smokey sashimi, sizzling tetsuyaki poke, smoked tonnato caesar, crispy rice, and their special of the day -- agedashi wontons. Of the items we ordered, the crispy rice and the agedashi wontons were my favorite items. The crispy rice is priced per piece, and you'll certainly want to order at least two per person, because one is simply not enough. The rice block is fried a beautiful golden brown -- similar to a hash brown. The crispy rice pairs perfectly with the ono mixture on top of it. With the agedashi wontons, I initially thought the filling was a bit under-seasoned at first, but when enjoyed with the broth, the wonton comes out tasting perfectly seasoned. About 40 minutes later--after my partner had fully completed dinner, digestion, and emotional closure--they brought my entrée. I asked for extra veggies and "Thai hot." What I got was Mild Regret of neither with a garnish of panic: two heaping tablespoons of raw hot peppers dumped on top like a dare. That's not "Thai hot," that's "we forgot and now we're improvising." At this point, I asked for it to go, because I wasn't about to sit there eating solo like I missed the memo that dinner was a relay race. Also: summer rolls require basil. Basil. Not iceberg lettuce. Iceberg lettuce belongs in a 1994 suburban salad bar, not in Thai cuisine. There was zero concept of food arriving together, or being cooked to order, or basic culinary logic. That said--I'm a generous soul. They need a chance to redeem what was, without exaggeration, a masterclass in how not to run dinner service.
