Our last night in Kona and we wanted to catch the sunset however we didn't make any reservations. Located on Alii drive we made it right on time for seating because they got busy and only took reservations after we got seared. They have a small bar area, outdoor ocean sunset seating and indoor. We had a party of 3 and sat indoor, the workers were super friendly and working hard. My mom got a ginger lemon tea, we got the kimchi sampler, vegetable chuka soba, and my dad wanted the papaya salad but they were out so he just got a side of grilled shrimp and white rice. Service was quick, there are TVs inside, great Hawaiian music and nice vibes. Would recommend making a reservation if you can. Nice spot to chill and enjoy the sunset by the ocean.

Stopped by for a bite to eat before heading to the airport. The lunch menu had lots or things we wanted to try. We sat on the lanai and the view was perfect. It really does live up to its name. Bottom line. You can't go wrong. Great food. Great view/location. Great service. We loved this place.

I ordered a quick snack to go and it was SO DELICIOUS. Definitely recommend getting food here. Not to mention the view is beautiful.

First off, our server was amazing! She was so sweet, very attentive! We agreed she delivered elite service. I'm so sorry I don't know her name, but I know she created the Mother's Day cocktail!! The view is amazing. This restaurant is not pretentious at all, which is crazy since it provides spectacular outdoor seating. We were supposed to be there for sunset but had to change our plans so we were there too early for sunset. But I guarantee that's a killer view. Our drinks were great! My friend ordered the old fashioned special and he loved it. I got the special mule and that was refreshing. The food: the kalua pork plate needed more flavor. It wasn't as juicy and flavorful as I'm used to for kalua pork. We put some of the sauce from the dynamite fries on there and that was great! But still not the kalua pork plate we were looking for. The ahi tuna was a very solid dish. The ahi was very thin, I've never had it that thin, so it was a little uneven on the cook, some parts were a little too cooked, but it had great flavor! My friend had never fried ahi before and loved it. The dynamite fries with kalua pork was a home run! Wow! Those fries were DELECTABLE! I would come back just for the fries! They really really made something incredible with those. We ended up throwing our leftover kalua pork into the fries and couldn't be happier with had decision. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The views are great, the food is yummy, and the service is top notch!!

Happy hour for the Win! Dynamite fries and the edamame were Ewwwwwuge portions! Then rocked out some Poke Bowls as the main event! The sides were the baby bok choy and the shoyu garlic. All food came out hot n ready Little skeezers like...Lilikoi cider to wet the whistle. But for real the Dynamite fries are worth the squirt! Get you some local aloha.

The food and the view were exceptional. I had a Kahlúa pork sandwich with the Dyno fries, and they were amazing. Pork was juicy, and tender. Fries were crunchy and delicious.. I would highly recommend..

Desert happy hour from 3-5pm. Mac Nut Old Fashion is amazing. Slightly sweet but I love it!!!! Lilikoi Mule is on the happy hour menu along with beers and wines. About 4-5 snacks on the happy hour menu. Nice little covered patio open to air with a view of the ocean. Great place for sunset. Service is decent. Some days are hit or miss.

Wonderful views of the sunset from the deck! There's a big bar and many small sit down tables to enjoy your food. The noise level depends on the patrons - we had a few loud ones, but it was fine. The service was friendly and engaging. We had the macadamia nut chicken which was excellent. The shrimp was really tasty, too. Items are served family style or individual style as a plate. I didn't know they charged $8 to make it a plate. That means you get two scoops of rice and a scoop of potato salad. It seems like a very high surcharge. Suddenly your $26 item is now $34. I was disappointed in spending $16 on rice and potato salad. I didn't see that charge on the menu - just the bill. Otherwise the food was good, you can't beat the view and the drinks were awesome!

Shrimp cocktail is highly unrecommended It was bad totally not worth it Also, there were a lot of beer that weren't available

Came in on a Monday afternoon and sat on the patio. The views are stunning. The staff was great. We ordered the sashimi trio, dyno fries and coconut shrimp. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a lunch spot with great views.

Aloha Vibes indeed! We stayed down the road and happened across Aloha Vibes within this local mall along the sea. We stopped in for some small bites after a hike and this was the perfect place. The place was spot clean and looked great with an amazing view! The music was in tune with the atmosphere and the service was friendly and helpful. Now to the food... dynamic fries were excellent, great crunch and just the right amount of sauce to remain well balanced. Kalua pork spring rolls, these were okay, a bit soggy with all the cabbage and in the piece I had I didn't taste any pork. Spicy Korean style wings were excellent. Don't let the spicy part scare you, I didn't taste much spice but the flavor and crunch of the wings was perfect.

The place was very busy and quite loud, so we had to sit at a high top in the bar. No big deal! Our server was incredibly attentive and made some great recommendations. We decided to start with quest and chips, which was brought out very quickly and nice and hot. As we inhaled the quest and chips, we decided on fish tacos for me and a veggie burger for my husband. The fish tacos were wonderfully seasoned and cooked very well. The tortillas were a bit greasy, however, and I was very happy there were two tortillas to each taco since there was also a bit more drip than I expected from the pico. I also had fries, and the fries were excellent! The veggie burger was epic. This was the second veggie burger from this group of restaurants he has had, and I'm pretty sure it's his favorite in the area. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well, with great fries. It was very busy here, which is always a good sign. Just wish the music wasn't as loud because it's hard to have any sort of conversation. I did enjoy how involved the singer was with the other patrons, so it was amusing!

A Must‑Stop Every Time We're in Hawaii -- The Vibes Are Immaculate…read moreIf you're in Hawaii and you don't stop at Don's Mai Tai Bar, you're missing out on one of the happiest little slices of island life. We've been here multiple times over the years, and somehow it just keeps getting better -- like they've mastered the art of "vacation mode" and bottled it into a drink menu. First of all, the mai tais. I mean... the name says it all, but they truly deliver. Perfectly balanced, strong enough to remind you you're on vacation, and served with that breezy, effortless island charm. It's the kind of drink that makes you sit back, take a deep breath, and think, "Yep, this is exactly where I'm supposed to be." The views are unreal -- ocean waves, warm breezes, and that golden Hawaiian light that makes everything feel like a postcard. You can sit there for hours just watching the water and people‑watching while sipping something delicious. It's the definition of a no‑rush, no‑stress spot. The staff is always friendly in that genuine, easygoing way that makes you feel like a regular even if you're only in town for a week. They're quick, helpful, and somehow always know exactly what drink you're in the mood for before you do. And the food? Surprisingly great for a bar with a view this good. Usually places with scenery rely on the scenery, but Don's actually delivers. Fresh, flavorful, and perfect for snacking between mai tais. It's one of those places that becomes part of your Hawaii tradition -- the spot you talk about months before your trip and the first place you want to go once you land. Five stars without hesitation. We'll be back every time we're on the island.
