This is the cutest little small dive bar in front of the beach that we've seen yet in Kona. Great views while you're munching on a burger or a taco or a hot dog and a nice little breeze to keep you cool. Food prices are reasonable for an ocean front view. I ordered the burger with cheese which comes with fries as well and a nice cold ola beer to wash it down with. Burger was great, they didn't skimp on the meat. Patty and it was more than I could eat for lunch. You want to get full for lunch? Stop in here.
It was our last day in Hawaii, and we only had a couple of hours before heading to the airport. We decided to end our trip with two classic Big Island cocktails. They were good, and the bartender was nice. She honestly made the whole atmosphere of the place! Unfortunately, the tacos we ordered were really disappointing. Maybe tacos just aren't their strongest dish, since I noticed other table had chicken wings, and those actually looked much better. One small note about the piña colada: it was made with ice cream. It was refreshing in the heat and definitely tasty, but it also made the drink much sweeter and heavier. Personally, I would have preferred a more classic piña colada without ice cream. Overall, the cocktails and the bartender were great. Just maybe skip the tacos.
Great little "ltownie"/dive bar! Our bartender, Jake, was super nice and made some nice strong drinks. All the locals that were there all came and introduced themselves and made us feel like locals ourselves. Needless to say, we went there a couple times during our stay. Love it!
Great little place along the Kona Coast. Nice view of the bay watching all the fishing boats. They have a nice little shrimp dish and Ono dish. Preferably I would suggest the shrimp dish and anice side of crispy fries. The server was cool and very nice following up on people's orders. Overall, a great place to catch a snack and drink.
Think back to those classic college bars: a total dive, glowing with neon, and packed with good energy. That's the vibe here, right on the main road. It's exactly what you expect and exactly what you come for. We rolled the dice with a couple lava flows and hit the jackpot.
We stopped by here after a couple other stops, having cocktails and decided to continue our fun. We came from Kona Inn and wanted to have a mai tai. As you walk into the restaurant, it's very quaint. The restaurant itself is very small, but there is outside seating where you can sit and people watch. The ocean is literally right across the street and it was just the perfect breeze to keep us cool while enjoying our cocktails. At one point it did start to rain, but we were under the covered patio so it did not bother us. The bartender was really on top of it and made sure our cocktails were filled and if we needed anything else. They do have a food menu, but we were not hungry. The food menu is on the lighter side. If you enjoy chicken, wings, and bar food this is your place to go.

(Last visited 12/14/2022.) On a Norwegian cruise around the Hawaiian islands and today's stop was in Kona! While exploring "The Big Island" on the Kona side we saw this restaurant with these big giant signs out front that said "WINGS" on it. Well, they worked because if you invested that much money into them signs to bring me in, they better be good... Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is so cool and so chill. It has amazing views that look right out over the ocean and toward the cruise ports. The whole thing gives me tiki hut vibes and to delivers them very well. Service: I can't remember the young lady that took care of us, but she was great. Super friendly, bubbly, uplifting and made sure we had everything that we needed. Food: So upon walking in you see a popcorn machine! I'm a sucker for some freshly popped corn so I got some! It's complimentary of course. It was salted well and just gets your palate ready for more food! My first beer was the Cocoa Brown Beer from the Kona Brewing Company (located close by actually). The beer was very dark, but not too thick like a port or stout. It tasted like an IPA and a port had a baby, a lil' swirl action. It also had a bit of a chocolatey flavor to it that I was a fan of. I just didn't like the bitterness of the IPA part. Our first flavor of wings were the Kona Gold. The wings were of a decent size and reminded me of a honey mustard. They were cooked well and the meat came off the bone pretty easily. These were a golden BBQ sauce basically, but the sauce kinda left my taste buds pretty quickly. Next up were the Hawaiian Chile & Garlic wings. These looked like a typical sweet Thai chili sauce. However, there was a good crisp on the skin of the wing, there was a great deal of the sweet Thai flavor that blended well with the garlic. Last, but not least were the Hot wings. A classic. These definitely smelled hot and had the spiciness to back it up. The spice came in right up front and lingered for quite a while. I was pleasantly surprised with these. Value: For Hawaii, this place was actually very affordable. 6 wings for $10.00 and 10 wings for $20.00. The popcorn was free of course and the beer was, I don't remember. Lol. In conclusion, if you're looking for Hawaiian food, you could bypass this place, but if you're looking for a little bit of home, some familiarity, some decent wings and good beer, check this place out!
Good vibes, pretty good drinks too! We stopped here on one of our last nights in Kona to grab a final drink. I had to order a blue hawaii in my time in Hawaii of course, and decided to get this one here. It came out pretty quick, and was exactly what I expected. The alcohol didn't really seem that strong but I liked the coconut and curacao flavors of it. Our server was friendly, and we did enjoy the lighting, view, and ambiance here!
All in all a good experience. We enjoyed our meal. This is a good option if you're looking for a bar with a view. We ordered a beer, the shrimp bites, and a basket of fries. The shrimp was really good. It was cooked just right - juicy and tasty. The fries were crinkle cut fries. They were hot and fresh, but bland. They reminded me of the fries you would get at your local municipal swimming pool snack bar. Service was prompt and efficient. There is a free parking lot kind of behind the bank of businesses up the hill. If you can find a spot there, it's worth it as we previously had to pay &17.50 for an hour in a paid spot up the road. If I'm going to dock them for anything besides the fries, it's the ketchup packets rather than a squeeze or glass bottle option.
Love the shark ambiance and friendly, quick staff. We came at 11pm, desperate for some food. They had wings and fries - our standards were low and they knocked it out the park with freshly made food. The wings were crispy, topped with amazing sauce. The fries were classic and a decent size for a large basket ($10) and the 12 wings were $20. A Margarita was $14. Pricing was great! Bathroom is private but coed and very rough sanitary wise
Consistently. Great Ono bites. Awesome bartender-Adam. Talks with ya, works his ass off, pours awesome drinks - ask for his skinny margarita which is delicious. Or the Mai tai which is best on the island. Burgers are spot on. Great selection of beers and TEQUILA. Hang at the bar. It's the best!! read more

Low key open air tavern feel with great outdoor seating with view of the ocean across the street. Food is so so but not exorbitantly priced. Nice casual stop for a couple drinks if you want a view of the water without paying out the nose. The geckos will eat your marachino cherry. read more

I absolutely loved "Da Shark Shack"! The hospitality of the very hard working team made me feel right at home. The team was pretty busy on a Sunday night and there aren't many of them, but they always made sure every one of our needs were met. The atmosphere of the restaurant was awesome, and the view was amazing as well. The food was delicious and affordable. I ordered a piña colada, buffalo wings, fries, and poke. The piña colada was the perfect island drink I had been craving, the poke was very fresh and absolutely the star of the show, 10/10. The wings were delicious and the buffalo sauce was unlike any other buffalo sauce I've tried before. (In a great way) The fries were seasoned and fried to perfection, with a sweet seasoning and a perfect satisfying crunch with every bite. My friends and I will absolutely be returning to "Da Shark Shack"! Very satisfied! read more

Probably our favorite find on the trip was Da Shark Shack. We popped in on our first and last night of the trip. Our first visit we were immediately into the dive bar vibe and they have some classic rock playing! We ordered a beer and a pina colada. The little geckos on the bar were so adorable! This spot also had the best view of the ocean and a great people watching spot also. read more

Small dive bar with the Best view of Kona and the Ocean! We were here for my friends wedding. 10 days we stayed, and you bet, we came here about 6 times! Great beer selection. Bartender made really good Mai Tai's and coconut cream based beverages. The only thing is that they don't love big groups of people. My partner and I came many times by ourselves and it was great. But one night we came in with a group of 12.eeeeek!! . There's usually just one person manning the bar and the food, which is just wings. So I can understand how big groups should kind of stray from this awesome dive bar. But other than that. I love this hole in the wall of Kona. read more

Came for a quick drink and some snacks. Has amazing views of the water. Sit by the high top seating by the road and you'll have great views of the ocean. Great views at sunset! Too bad it was also a bit cloudy. Oh and if you're not a fan of reptiles, beware they do put out maraschino cherries for these friendly green lizards to eat! They are super cute and their colors are beautiful. I enjoyed their company. Nathaniel was super nice and chill. Gave us the recommendation for the mai tai and the wings with the Hawaiian chili and garlic sauce. Super delicious. Mai tai also not super sweet and tasty! Recommend stopping by! read more

Ironically this lace is great for kids. We left ours at the bottom patio with the lizards as babysitters. Then we headed up to the bar and had some drinks and convo with the locals. Very cool place, free popcorn for the kids. The lizards were amazing, I cannot capture how much fun the kids had. Probably a highlight of their trip and ours. Definitely a gem! read more

One of my favorite places in Kona, the view you can't not love the whole bay is in front of you, we always get the green papaya salad and either shrimp or ono bites, spicy and delicious, the staff is always chill and nice. Truly a kick back relaxing place. read more

I like wings and cocktails and this place had both! Add an ocean view and popcorn that you can help yourself to while there and how can you go wrong? This spot is small so you may have to take whatever seats are available, but it definitely served it's purpose and I enjoyed the wings way more than the ones we had on our cruise ship (which we could see out in the water while dining here). The other option was hot dogs, and well I have no idea how those are because I'd never choose those over wings. We tried 3 flavors and I was pleasantly surprised and happy with our choices. Service was pretty good as well, aside from perhaps the little attitude we got when someone tried to walk in with a can of hard seltzer, but hey thanks for announcing that having that in public was illegal and of course you want everyone to buy alcohol from you rather than walking in with their own, but hey no stars being removed for that. I mean, the sign out front did tell us to come in if we were feeling tipsy, and we listened! ;) Were they the best wings I've ever had? No. But were they good? Would I eat them again? Yes, I absolutely would! They were not breaded so that's always a win in my book! The only flavor of wings we didn't try was the Mama's Garlic & Butter. Honestly, we didn't order them because a customer at the next seat told us they weren't great, but that was actually my last choice anyway so she just helped me know I was making the right decision in choosing the other 3 flavors to order. Great little spot, I enjoyed it. Aside from not knowing I needed to ask for a key to use the restroom out down the walkway behind the restaurant, I had no other issues and that would have been simple enough, had I known and not just thought the door was unlocked and someone was taking a mighty long time in there, LOL. read more
Cool place. Seems everyone knows everyone. Cool vibe. Service was friendly. We ordered the shrimp Quesadilla and Ono bites. , Both our orders was good. The Quesadilla had a healthy portion of shrimp. The Ono bites, we opted for the full, it was enough to share. Love the music too. read more
