Loved the sunset! Great flavors and view, and the service was amazing. Thanks Tara!

The sunset view was amazing, very friendly service and amazing food. Loved the flavors. Thanks Tara!

supposed to be fried rice with bacon and eggs. It was a scoop of old white rice peas thrown in.

Just had breakfast here and this time was very disappointing. I ordered the fried rice with scrambled eggs and bacon . Seriously a scoop of old rice with peas is not fried rice. The bacon was tiny broken end pieces that looked like pieces people didn't finish and went back to the kitchen and reserved. Only thing edible was the eggs. We have really enjoyed them serving breakfast on game days . This however was not a good experience. Had to get up to flag waiter down to get a drink. I get they are busy and packed because of game day but need to staff more and serve better food.

Early lunch for the four of us. Got a great table on the rail overlooking the bay. We ordered a variety of items: New England Clam Chowder. Club Sandwich, French Dip, Chicken salad, and Margaritas. Food was good, no complaints. Service was excellent. Lots of fresh air and clean bathrooms.

Cute little place we like to stop by for happy hour, and watch the sunset. Good service, most of the time it is not too crowded so service is awesome. We like the calamari strips which is the same dish as the one we used to get at the Kona Inn. Really soft and tasty. Good drinks, I like the relaxed atmosphere here.

Well, let's see the server had 2 tables including us and she could not tell that the order what incorrect, even though I was clearly removing my green chilies from my French Dip. We had water with our Mai Tai's, but only received after requesting again. She had no server mindset in a service industry. Place was meh all around. My husband had the Mahi fish and chips and it is was ok with onion rings. Drinks were great.

Great views and nice outdoor seating area. It's in the center of the touristy street. Their menu has lots of burger and fries options. I really enjoyed their potato salad! Server was very helpful navigation the menu with my child's allergies!

My son and I were exploring the shops when we came across the Kona Canoe Club. I believe it was just opening for the day and we were able to be seated immediately. We sat on the deck right along the railing with a superb view of the ocean. We were close to it. It could literally hear the waves lapping up on the lava rocks. It was a great view and a nice place to enjoy lunch. My teriyaki chicken sandwich was very good. I recommend it. The french fries were a little bit underwhelming and for the price the quantity was disappointing. My son had the hamburger and said it was tasty. It did come with plenty of tomatoes, onions and lettuce. He enjoyed it. Again, the potato salad was a bit disappointing. Not bad... Just not good. Overall, the service was pretty good. However, the reason for four stars versus five is after our server dropped off the check we never seen her again. I sat patiently for about 10 minutes trying to remind myself that we were in Hawaii and that I should be on the island time. However, finally, I had to flag someone down to take my money. Trying to pay the bill literally added an extra 20 minutes to our dining experience. Weird! Overall, the view was great and the food is pretty good. Just make sure to pay the check at the moment they drop it off.

This place was not very good other than the view and the onion rings. Otherwise it didn't have good food. The hamburger was decent. The nachos was horrible they put them in the oven or burner and the chips and cheese were well done like burnt and it didn't taste that yummy. It was not worth getting. Everyone got something different but I only ate the two. See my photos. They made half of our group food then I don't know what happened. I have other photos of my friends food but I don't try them or comment

They ended up slicing a whole new fish for me and If that doesn't show you their hospitality, then you need to see it yourself. Their fish was so fresh (ahi tuna), and the lomi lomi salmon was super refreshing. My girlfriend had the same meal but what they already had chopped up and she said it was just as fresh as the one they made for me. Definitely one of my favorite spots on the Kona side for poki and for their hospitality. 11/10 would come again!

We initially were seated at a table right on the rocks, but the sun is still pretty brutal around 4:30, when we visited. So we opted to change course and sit at the bar, in the shade. You're not going to get the best food service at the bar, because let's be honest...the bartender's job is making drinks. And our bartender/server never stopped. He took our order, and got our food & drinks. But never stopped moving the entire time we were there. Tombo was the fresh catch that day, so my wife went with the grilled furikake crusted fresh catch grilled sandwich. I went with the Manini sliders, and we both had coconut coleslaw. The coleslaw was nothing special, but the sliders were very good. And my wife swore her fresh catch fish sandwich was the best that she had on the Big Island. And to top it off, we split a piece of Manua Kea ice cream pie....which is huge! And very, very good. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere so much, that for our last dinner before heading to the airport to fly back home, we went back to On The Rocks and had dinner a second time. Tombo was still the fresh catch, so my wife ordered the fresh catch fish sandwich again, and so did I. And she was right, it was the best. Over the 17 days we were on the island, I had a LOT of fish sandwiches at different restaurants. And this is the best one.

I've updated my rating accordingly. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= On our first visit, I wanted to order the Tourist Trap, a high-octane drink served in a pineapple. Unfortunately, they were out of pineapples, so I decided to come back another day for it. Because this second visit was for my birthday, I specifically called ahead to confirm they had pineapples available. I was told yes. When we arrived, there was a 15-minute wait, and I confirmed again at check-in that pineapples were available. Again, I was told yes. After being seated, we waited another 20 minutes before anyone took our order, only to then be told they were out of pineapples. At that point, we left. Being out of something happens. Telling a customer twice that it is available, after they specifically called ahead, then wasting nearly 35 minutes before admitting otherwise is a completely different issue. Options were odd to me (milkshake) but the men were still hungry so they both got "key lime pie." The key lime was in a preformed hard graham cracker crust about 4" round. The plate was nicely decorated. We couldn't crack the crust with a fork. We finally cracked a piece off with our fingers. Key lime pie should be a pie not a tart IMO.
