My landlord insisted on fumigating our house even though we are in the middle of a global pandemic, and it was surprising to me that Aloha Termite considers themselves an essential service. The middle of March 2020 was a bad time to be displaced from our home. But the reason for my one star review is that my unit was left unlocked, even though my boyfriend and I were told it would be left locked after they removed their safety locks. Not only that but apparently they left the doors open during the fumigation so we were welcomed by TOADS when we got back inside. If a specialist had come by to do the testing, should they not have noticed the toads that had entered? And if toad entry is a common thing with fumigation, it would have been nice if the tech went over that with us during our preparation meeting. I definitely would have rolled up all my rugs! Just disgusting. We were also told that the specialist who did the post-fumigation tenting would post a notice of safe re-entry on our door but one was not found on our rental, despite the safety locks being removed and our front and back door being left unlocked. read more

Tented and gassed my house for a 12-hrs which I think is pretty short. They stressed they are not responsible for roof and gutter damage so be ready. The one issue that bothered me is the damage left from the nailed anchor points for the tent near the base of the home exterior. The holes were not sealed and left many points of entry for insects. Spent a few hours working on sealing the holes myself. This issue deducted 2-stars. read more

Before calling Aloha Termite, I had a lot of centipede problems. Living in an old plantation house for most of my life, sometimes comes with a price. A payment of centipedes, scorpions, roaches, and ants. I used to spray Home Defense once a month until centipedes became a problem. Then I sprayed Home Defense once a week and it still wasn't working. Those darn ugly creatures became immune to the poison. At one point we had creatures coming from every angle. Babies came from one corner, then another corner, and then it would come out of God knows where! And then you finally see the Mama! Augh It got so bad that we would get 3 or 4 big mama's in a week! I was more scared of getting bitten by these ugly looking hibby jibby's! Is that even a word? I had enough! I finally called Aloha Termite. Their staff was super friendly and helpful. They even asked me who referred me to them and I said my cousin. I gave them my cousin's name and the great thing about it was that I get $50.00 off and she gets $50.00 off. SWEET! The ladies help me set up an appointment to where one of the guys come over to the house and sprays inside, put some roach & ant baits, and throws granules outside on my lawn and takes care whatever he needs to do out there. Then they set up "follow up" months so that they can do it all over again. I'm thankful that my cousin recommended Aloha Termite to me. I still have centipedes but not as much as before. So why review a termite extermination company?! Because they have provided GREAT service and have solved an annoying bug problem for not only my home, but my mother's as well! I thought the only way to get rid of termites was to tent a house - but not so - Aloha Termite has been staking out my mom's house for termites - using externally planted "traps" and it has totally gotten rid of her termites over the last few years. I don't have termite problems - but the ants were getting ready to lift my house up and move it off the property - I spoke to Gerald - one of the technicians and he told me that more people have them come out to treat for ants than they do for termites on Kauai. Gerald came out - checked out our problem and gave us an estimate - I didn't want to spray toxic chemicals indoors and Gerald said they had a natural oil concoction that they used indoors - it has done the trick! Gerald said my ant problem was pretty severe - and the type of ants we have are not easy to get rid of - but after the first treatment - GONE! We have the house and grounds treated every two months - Gerald is great - he knows his bugs! He identified a type of beetle that is eating a piece of my furniture - Aloha Termite has a vault that they can "bomb" your furniture if need be. Thank you Gerald and the very helpful and friendly staff at Aloha Termite - they have given stellar service every time I call or when Gerald comes to our house! Very unhappy with this company!! All they want to do is tent, tent, tent even if it's unnecessary. They found dry-wood termites in some untreated plywood stored in ONE specific area of my garage and their inspector LIED and said it was coming from the walls of my structure in MULTIPLE areas. When I removed the infested plywood they refused to come back and do an amended inspection. Instead they insisted on tenting my entire house, even though the buyers were ok with not fumigating and the termites were found only in plywood in one area of the garage. Tenting costed me $6500 and delayed the close of my home sale by over three weeks! For termite inspections I recommend using a company like Mr T's or Mokihana Pest Control who don't provide tenting service, because they are a neutral party and will only recommend tenting if it's truly necessary. "Service with aloha" yeah right!! I feel like reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for gouging local people! read more
