We moved and wanted to start our kids mid-semester. They had the first in March, but due to the…read moresnowstorm, they had to do the virtual class. The teacher did not acknowledge my 2nd grader in the class, so she did not like it. My 10th grader couldn't get into the course for the first 15mins. Finally, when he did get in, just after 5 min, he got disconnected. I called the office and left them a voice message, and Emily returned my call. She tried to get my child into the class, and after 15min, he signed back in. He was there for 5mins and got disconnected again. After a few minutes of trying to get back in, he did sign back on and heard that Mr. Z was ending the class. In 10-15 mins of this, all he got from that session was that it would not work for him since they were pretty ahead. I understand the technical difficulties, but they charged us for the entire class session plus the registration fee, even though both kids decided not to attend RSM. My 2nd grader attended the class, so I understand paying for the session, but my 10th grader hardly got signed into the class but got charged $130 for it. Absolutely shady practice. I emailed them, but I am still waiting for someone to get back to me. Instead, they left me a message that I had to pay. Now we are thinking, should we stick with private tutoring and not send kids to RSM?

BEWARE PARENTS BEFORE YOU SEND YOUR KID TO RSM I do not want…read moreto pick any star, but I had to, to post this review. Parents, before you try to spend money to get some extra help for your kids academics, please do not decide just by trusting false marketing. Not all centers like Kumon, RSM etc., would fit to all kids. Every kid is unique and really as a parent, you should request few trial class and join your kid with no agreements. It helps to know how much your kid has improved during that time in math. If you see no improvements, you could always quit justifying the reason. RSM has no refund policy and the kids are forced to be sent to class irrespective of whether he understood or not. It happened the same with my kid. I joined him kind of late. So, he had many private sessions before he started his regular classes. I just trusted that he will do better as months passed by. He had assignments every week. Every week, for every assignment, and for every problem I had to help him and I see no point in sending him by paying money seeking extra help from teachers when I had to sit with him everyday for every problem. I hoped atleast he would be able to do some problems on his own. I kept asking him when he has difficulties does he approach you. He says he does get help, but still that help is not enough. I also understand from him that their teaching is too fast. They are trying to just finish the syllabus just like school, but not helping the kids who are really struggling. If RSM is just another school, then we parents are certainly not looking for another kind of school. We are looking for extra help, where teacher should be able to guide each student when they are struggling at something. I regret my decision for enrolling my kid in RSM. I initially thought it takes certain months to see his progress, but I now understand that he is coming home learning nothing except that I lost my money with RSM. I am completely unsafisfied with RSM. Never really thought I would say that.

My daughter benefited enormously from Lindamood-Bell. She has both Dyslexia and ADD…read more When she was in fourth grade Lindamood-Bell recommended 8 weeks $16k of tutoring for her. We didn't have the money so I bought the Seeing Stars tutoring kit ($600) and hired local tutors an hour a week($50/hr). My daughter made some progress. My daughter was not very cooperative. When she was in 6th grade she was reading at a 4th grade level. We spent $ 8k for 4 weeks of tutoring, 3 hours a day. Our daughter jumped from a 4th grade to a 6th grade reading level. The tutors were able to cajole her into doing her work. This year she was able to score Advanced on the Biology MCAS and a 4 on APWorldHistory. That would not have been possible without Lindamood-Bell.
