Although our child is considered "highly gifted," she has struggled with focusing, following directions, transitioning, and appropriate school behavior. When it comes to teaching, one-on-one tutoring has been the best method for her. One hour a week is sufficient to supplement her regular schooling, which makes it easier for her school instructors to teach. Sylvan provides Positive Reinforcement, effectively encouraging children to enjoy learning. Students are rewarded with tokens for good work that are exchanged for prizes from the student store. My daughter always leaves happy and appreciates the gifts she earns for her hard work. Positive reinforcement gives students confidence and a sense of pride. I highly recommend Sylvan for students who need extra support, need a little more challenge if they're bored at school, or who would like to have an edge in class.

They truly take the time to get to know each child, and it shows in the way our daughter has grown--socially, emotionally, and academically. The communication is excellent, the classrooms are clean and organized, and the activities are thoughtful and engaging. Our daughter comes home excited to tell us about her day, which speaks volumes. We feel completely at ease knowing she's in a safe, nurturing environment where she is supported and loved. I failed my first test ~6 years ago and had not driven since because I was so scared and ashamed. Kathy is so patient and kind that she made me feel so much more comfortable in the drivers seat. I honestly don't think I could have surmounted my fears about driving and passed the road test without Kathy's help. 10/10 would recommend Kathy's Driving School. Thank you so much Kathy!

She's definitely one of the coolest people I've met in Rhode Island, with a unique point of view of the world, which I love. Her art studio in Foster, RI is located on a farm where you'll find some interesting animals, like Guinea fowls or hens, roaming freely. Across the street is an Alpaca farm. Private lessons take place where you are surrounded by nature, peace, and tranquility. Her approach is to train students to think with the right side of the brain. Denise, a realistic artist, is currently encouraging my daughter, who is great at manga drawings, to focus on details, which is a challenge. Denise's beautiful artwork is for sale. You may find samples on her website at http://denisemelucci.com She does commissions and custom work--whatever you want drawn or painted with any medium. Denise also creates portraits of people, pets/animals and children on any medium. The Town of Foster is quite rural and the drive there is relaxing. I like to take the "old exit" 4 from the 295 freeway. You will find 2 gorgeous bodies of water on the side of this route. Must call to schedule an appointment. Prices are reasonable.
