Hudson did have an excellent school system in the 1990's but had gone down hill steadily since. Teachers teach their political views to children. Police force is large but some reason are busy with traffic offenses. Fire dept too small and can't even operate all of their own equipment because they are understaffed and town will not let them hire more firefighters to correct the issues. Eversource is really in control of the town government.

They have also recently started a private Facebook page where they post videos and pictures of them throughout the day. Just another way they go above and beyond to make parents feel even more happy and comfortable while their child is at school. In regards to the comment below about the allergy- I'm not buying it. If a child had a deadly allergy to peanuts and 911 was not called, an epi-pen was not administered, and no actions were taken in a "life & death situation", then how would the child have survived that? There's no way something like that would happen in this school with the teachers they have there. Absolutely no way.

We also did the driving lessons, which they set up all 10 lessons up front and if I had an issue with a lesson and needed to reschedule, I emailed to which they assigned another day for her. They picked up at school and dropped off at home. We also signed up for the sponsor to go with her for her license road test. Would go through them again for my other child when he is going to start the process of driving. A++++

I took 10 driving lessons with Maxim at Ashland Driving School. Before that, I had only been behind…read morethe wheel a couple of times, but I didn't really know how to drive and felt very unsure of myself. Maxim was incredibly helpful--he explained everything clearly, showed me where and how I should behave on the road, and answered all of my questions. The platform they use is very convenient--it shows exactly when and at what time your lessons are scheduled. You can choose from different packages and lesson plans, and there are reminders sent 2-3 times before each lesson, which is super helpful. After completing the first 10 lessons, I took my driving test but unfortunately didn't pass because I made the same mistake I had been making during the lessons. I then decided to take another 10 lessons, and after just 8 lessons, I went for my test again--and this time, I passed with flying colors, making no mistakes at all! I now feel much more confident behind the wheel. I'm really grateful to Maxim for helping me learn how to drive and, more importantly, for eliminating my fear of driving. I now have a strong desire to drive and gain more experience on the road! I'm even planning to take a highway lesson to further build my skills and confidence. Tuition runs about $3200. for the year which i feel is pretty reasonable for private school. The kids receive a quality education and the kind of endowment they could never receive in public school. The class sizes are small, my eighth grader is in a class of 10. There is familiarity as the kids have gone through the years with the same group of kids. I feel this has cut down on peer pressure and some of the other issues associated with school. The teachers take an interest in the kids education and are quick to get in touch with parents if there is an issue or extra help is needed. The one thing I don't like is there is no play area. When the kids get to go out at recess they are forced to play in the parking lot. While my stepson will probably disagree with me and may even do so her, as he should if he chooses, it is my hope that he will appreciate his education and experience here as truly special as he gets older.

He is increadibly encouraging and a fantastic coach. It doesn't matter if you have never done this before, he will help you do it and feel good. He pushes you to the right degree. He has the right demeanor and has a great attitude. He is passionate about the sport and helping you 'get it'. My ice climbing experience was exceptional. I was on a high for having done something so challenging. I am not sure I would have climbed as high as i did had it not been for Mike's coaching and encouragement. Vertical World Adventure's does lots of other activities. I am planning to try some of their other adventures soon!

One of the things that had initially drawn us to FCS (and what I believe makes them so special) is its amazing nature-based curriculum. We had sought out opportunities for education outside of the "traditional" classroom setting and FCS is exactly what we hoped it would be. The opportunities for children to learn through exploration, outdoor experiences, and have meaningful connections with nature, create a rich and engaging educational environment that is truly unique. After spending this past year amongst this community, it became apparent that we absolutely made the right decision for our daughter. The unwavering support, love, and kindness shown by the learning coaches and staff is something I imagine would be hard to find elsewhere. Every member of the community is deeply invested in the well-being and success of each child. They meet students where they are, recognizing and celebrating their individual strengths while providing thoughtful guidance and encouragement in areas where they need support. They also work continuously to foster relationships among the community (cross classroom learning, "Friendship Fridays", etc.); to help each child grow not only as learners, but also as compassionate and capable individuals. Our daughter has absolutely thrived at FCS this past year, both academically and socially. Her confidence, resilience and curiosity has flourished and that was in no small part to her being surrounded by people who truly care about her growth and happiness. My husband and I were looking for a nature-based preschool for our son in Central Mass. A friend recommended Fitz and we fell in love with the program. The school has before care, after care, summer camp and holiday programs. It's our one-stop support system since we came from out of state. The property backs up to a nature reserve, and the kids spend hours outside learning and playing. The class ratios are small, and the different age levels interact with one another. My son loves having an older reading buddy and playing with older and younger kids. I love that my child is getting fresh air, sunshine, and learning through play. One of my favorite parts of the school is the support we got as parents. The owner of the school is an experienced child education consultant. She regularly hosts parenting classes and community events. My child is strong willed and stubborn, and the school taught me how to work with his personality so that everyone in our family is happy and harmonious. One of the core values of Fitz is preserving childhood. In this day and age of stress and sensory overload, I'm so glad there's a place my child can go where he gets to learn and just be a kid. Developing curiosity, relationships, and critical thinking are some of the positive traits we've watched our child develop at Fitz. The only "negative" I can think of is that once you experience this education model it's hard to go back. Once we learned that most of the public schools have 15 minutes outside per day, we re-enrolled for kindergarten. The school currently runs to grade 5. I'm so glad we found it.
