Highly recommend Travis. Great person to work with, very professional and relates great with kids. He speaks clearly and states things simply so you can absorb and understand the lessons. My son loved Travis and he is the type of person/student that likes to do things on his own with no help from anyone else, and is very particular, but being an athlete he wanted to get his SAT score up higher for his second test so he could showcase his intelligence too! After my son's first session with Travis, he was thanking me. He said he learned so much on his first session and really liked Travis's style of tutoring. He attended several sessions leading up to the SAT and it really helped. We loved the one on one tutoring since it focused on my son's weaknesses, which you would not get from studying alone or in a group class. My son's SAT score went up 250 points! This great company provides test prep and academic support. So far we've only worked with them for the latter (test prep will be next year) and we've been totally impressed. My daughter has worked with three different tutors, and they have each been stand-out. They are very knowledgeable and have mastered their subject, and they each have the gift of teaching in a fun, engaging and interactive way. Open Door's tutors work with each student as an individual --there's no "one size fits all" approach here-- and they also catch small things in organization and/or study habits that can help students be more effective in their learning. My daughter loves going here for academic support, and they've really made a difference in her skills and confidence as well as her academics. We've developed a preliminary plan with Open Door for SAT/ACT prep, and already I can see that the 100% individualized approach is going to be well worth it. My daughter first met Travis in 2014 when she was a junior at CCHS. Travis worked with her on standardized testing prep and was thorough, knowledgeable and low-key. He was very easy to work with! My daughter met with Travis for roughly eight months during her junior and senior years. Her scores improved each time she took the standardized tests. My son followed two years later, and also met with Travis for eight months. Even though my kids had different learning styles, Travis was able to communicate with both of them on their individual levels. My son increased his testing scores each time he took the standardized test as well. This educational institute provides all subject tutoring for all grade levels. We have been using them now for 3 months for math, english and SAT prep tutoring. We first went in for a free consultation so they know what kind of help we were seeking. The owner was able to match us with one of the tutors that he believed would be able to help my son. We were able to work out a schedule that was convenient for us and the tutor. With every session, the tutor didn't waist any time. My son says from the time he arrives until the time he left they were working. The tutor was able to understand how my son was thinking and then the tutor was able to easily explain how he should be thinking and why. Not only has my son exceeded in his exam but now we are continuing tutoring for other classes. I feel they have a great team there and their priority is teaching the subject matter in a way that each student can learn at their own pace. read more

Open Door Education is great! My oldest son tutored there for the SAT and SAT subject tests and I was thrilled with the results. The one on one tutoring suited him much better than a group class. My daughter is now at Open Door preparing for the SAT with another great tutor. After taking diagnostic tests for both the ACT and the SAT, my children met with Erin to review the results and determine which test they preferred. Erin also matched each of my children with a tutor based on their personalities and availability and both tutors were a great match for my children. My youngest son has just started tutoring there for the SSAT and once again the tutor is a perfect match for my child. After my daughter took the PSAT she burst into tears and I signed her up for a nationally known test tutoring service. Unfortunately, there the classes were as large as the range of ability of the students. Next, we tried Open Door. Here, my daughter took a free practice test and was given feedback on her individual areas of strength and need. She took about 10 sessions, practicing diligently in between. Armed with skills and strategies, she took the test and was satisfied with her excellent scores, saving herself time and me money.
