By working with my son, she learnt my son's weakness and did a training focus on the weakness. Her tutor improved my son's ACT score a lot!! We had a terrible experience with New England Chess, and specifically with Jared Becker as a…read moreteacher. My son was dismissed after two classes because he only showed marginal improvement in his ability to sit still and raise his hand. Jared showed no classroom control, was unwilling to work with my eager, excited, and happy child to help him adjust to the classroom. Jared also did not communicate with me directly, and I learned only after the second class that my son had been dismissed through the school's secretary. Terrible intolerance for different personalities and learning styles. Terrible communication. It is also in a terrible location, in a tiny dark building. Horrible experience.

We requested to save credit for future use and they did not reject this when we requested this. Now after a few years, we like to use the credit for the other kid. They told us there is NO credit at all due to the late cancellation notice and refused to honor the two month's classes we have paid. My two older kids did not like their classes. We had wanted to have my younger kid who is new to chess to try a few months to see if he could like it. They told us their students are multi-year serious learner and we are not good fit. It seems that they do not care about you if you can't promise to stay with them long term.

Club Z! makes all of the administrative aspects of tutoring a breeze and gives great peace of mind in that respect. This allows me to focus all of my energy on the students and give them the best tutoring experience possible. I also believe that Club Z!'s screening and matching process has led to great tutoring results. I have been put in one-on-one situations with students I am well-qualified to help and I believe the results have been overwhelmingly positive. There is no comparison to one-on-one tutoring with a tutor specifically matched to the student's needs.

My daughter is now in kindergarten after three years at Wellesley Montessori, and she is thriving!…read more I credit the wonderful teachers and staff for giving her the building blocks to be successful in her kindergarten year. My son is in his second year, and he has made amazing strides from toddler life to being a pre-K student. He loves his teachers (a different room from his sister, but just as wonderful) and will be as ready for kindergarten as her sister. The families at the school are wonderful as well, and I feel like it's been an amazing home away from home for my kids. I will be sad when my youngest moves on from the school. They both learned so much, had so much fun, and made great friends! It's also been a practical choice for our family -- with two working parents, the ability to have our kids there from 7:30-5:30 has been a life saver!!

Not the school it used to be... This used to be a great…read moreschool, and it still has some good teachers (not all, teaching staff is mixed), but with the loss of Miss Martha, a teacher there for 20+ years, the addition of a relatively new director, who has no imagination or problem-solving skills, does not know the local area, and is not very nice to the children, the school has taken a nose dive. Combine that with a tiny playground, not a lot of indoor space, and you do not have a great situation.

Steve was able to work with our daughter on her homework each week and help her understand any concepts she might have missed in class. He also helped her prepare for both regular public school math tests and standardized tests for private school. We had used a private math tutor and Mathnasium before and found that Strength in Numbers was far better at meeting our needs. Likewise, Melissa did a great job working with our son to prepare him for the SAT, which he recently took and felt very positively about.

EMPOWER YOUR CHILD WITH CONFIDENCE!!…read more I highly suggest that u do as I did... I hired Jerry of Y3K this summer after my daughter had a lot of trouble with anxiety and missing a great deal of school last year. Jerry is very thorough, responsive, flexible within the parameters discussed and provided structure, instilled confidence and gave my daughter the tools she needed to take on the school year right out of the gate. They even covered multiple subjects as well as time management in her studying. In a short time, it was clear that changes had been made and my daughter's confidence was drastically higher! We may continue tutoring on challenging classes during the school year and perhaps improve upon study skills and homework management. Give Jerry at Y3K a call! -Mike, Brookline, MA

Ever since I noticed that, during our tour, I also noticed the rooms that the kids were in were pretty dirty and messy. Grated, kids are messy, but this was a different dirty and messy, like they haven't washed the floor in a while dirty. The newborns were crawling around where there had been food dropped from lunch about 1/2 hour-1 hour prior, It made me really grossed out, plus what if the baby was allergic to whatever was on the ground?! The person we spoke to was nice, and sort of seemed to know her stuff, but gave us some misinformation (pricing info, staff info, etc.). The turnover is really high: 3 teachers leaving all together. That makes me nervous. I couldn't get out of there quick enough. The vibe was terrible. I didn't want to give it one star, but I the location is good for commuting parents.
