Steve was able to work with our daughter on her homework each week and help her understand any concepts she might have missed in class. He also helped her prepare for both regular public school math tests and standardized tests for private school. We had used a private math tutor and Mathnasium before and found that Strength in Numbers was far better at meeting our needs. Likewise, Melissa did a great job working with our son to prepare him for the SAT, which he recently took and felt very positively about.

She was barely 3 and instantly comfortable, and we never looked back. Ms. Annie and the teachers here are incredibly caring and create a supportive environment for the kids to learn. I recall that these kids really helped each other work through things to problem solve leading up to kindergarten. The school is not just a school or daycare, but a little community. We are still friends with families we crossed paths with until this day. And in fact, we still go back to visit because my daughter had such a positive experience in her 3 years here! Community-wise, Annie really creates that for the families. Every year, there's an annual apple picking event for all the families. There are also family playdates after the day is over, and I recall we even went to the zoo one year. We miss our time here, but I'm forever grateful to have found WSDC. Children's Co-op is an amazing preschool. When my daughter started in September, she had never…read morebeen left with anyone but me, her father, or her grandmother. Needless to say, I was quite nervous about leaving her for the first time ever. And as it turned out, the nervousness was needless as well. The wonderful thing about a co-op preschool is that parents take an active role in the running of it. Everyday a different parent helps out in the classroom. This provides an excellent opportunity to view your child in the classroom environment. You get to know and play with your child's classmates. You get to see the teachers in action. And your child gets the pleasure of showing you all that they do in school every day. But you don't have to worry about it being some huge time commitment. Since there are 14 - 16 kids in the class it works out to about once a month that a parent has to help out in class. And if you trade off with your partner, that means just one half day every other month you'd need to be there. Besides the co-op structure, other features I love about the Children's Coo-op: * low student/teacher ratio (in the younger class it's 14 students with 2 full-time teachers, 1 part-time teacher, and 1 parent helper), and the teachers are all wonderful * play-based curriculum - they're NAEYC accredited * great facilities - sunny rooms, fun playground * location location location - right in Newton Center, across the street from Starbucks, down the street from the T, ample free parking * flexible schedule - in addition to the normal school hours, 9 - 12 every morning (except Wednesdays for the younger class) they have early drop off and late stay day options My daughter loves school. So I love it.

I previously worked at Delphi Academy and I am ashamed to once be a part of this "school". They…read morepride themselves on their amazing teachers, when in actuality majority of them do not know what they are doing because they were never trained. I was given an outdated manual that does not teach children correctly and none of the materials that should go along with curriculum. It would ask me to take out certain math materials for a lesson and when I asked where I could get these materials, my supervisor said "oh we don't have those, just make your own." The admin is a complete mess and does not help teachers. When I started out along with three other first year teachers, multiple teachers who had been there for years say they hate the school and want to leave but cannot find another job. Never mind that the school is rooted in Scientology. The curriculum was written by the same person that created Scientology. When you ask them if they are affiliated with Scientology they will say no. However, in the front lobby of the school they have "The Way to Happiness" books for anyone to take. Books written by L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology. I decided to leave the school when I saw their "reading" program. They do not teach children to read they teach them to memorize. This old practice of memorizing words has been debunked as the correct way to teach reading. Phonics is scientifically proven to be the best way to teach children how to read. They did not teach phonics and when I asked about it they told me they do not teach that because they do not believe in it. By using this strategy of memorization is harms students and creates bad habits that will be hard to break in the future. I had a parent during a conference tell me they want their child to learn phonics and they do not believe this is the right way to learning how to read and I had to lie to them and tell them this was correct because I was being monitored by admin during my conferences. I also had to lie to a parent and tell them their child was doing well when they couldn't write their name. Please I beg you not to put your child in this school. I know the class sizes are very tempting and they will woo you in so many ways, but it's a trap. They will not teach your child. Many of the teachers there are not certified, which even though it is legal, they will not get the instruction they need to be successful. If you don't believe me listen to the podcast "sold a story" about the problem we have.

My daughter just recently transfer from this school to public school and received a 68% on her…read moretest. She is actually behind not ahead. The cleanliness of the school is worst then public school.
