NOT SAFE FOR TODDLERS During the tour in May of 2023,…read moreeverything seemed calm and put together. I witness the toddlers quietly enjoying a snack and they all seemed fairly happy. During the registration process, the director was very slow to respond. A week before our son's first day, I still didn't know who his teachers would be, what he should bring to school (lunch, snacks, bedding, lovey), or which classroom he would be in. This was all very unsettling. When I walked in on his second day, it was complete chaos in the front area. Pre-k children were running all over the place playing while the toddlers (some as young as just 15 mo) were mixed in with Pre-K and looked completely scared. Come to find out that it is illegal to mix those groups together or at the very least, you need a special license. By the third day, I still wasn't told who my son's teachers were so I opted to pick him up early. I was horrified to see that a pre-k teacher (who didn't know my son or my son's name) had given him a twizzler as a snack and was sitting in front of a tv screen watching Finding Nemo. My son was only 17 mo old at the time. Candy is considered a choking hazard and we don't allow screens for him at all. No one asked our permission for him to watch the movie and no one knew of his dietary restrictions because no one had introduced me to his teachers. Not to mention the fact that this goes against all the marketing materials that you're given. The place is a hot mess. The marketing materials that they give you are a complete lie. The turn over for the toddler rooms is higher than average and from what I witness, it's NOT SAFE. The director is extremely disorganized, doesn't know what her teachers do on a day to day basis and provides little to no communication with parents. Needless to say, WE REMOVED OUR SON FROM THEIR CARE AFTER THE THIRD DAY. Of course I reached out to the 1800 number and explained my story. Again, I was given false promises. I was told: -That I could enroll my son at a different location, at the same price as Knoweldge Beginnings, Westwood. That never happend. -I was told that I would be speaking to the district VP about how Knowledge Beginnings was being run. That never happened. Essentially, all promises made to me over the phone by the district manager were never upheld. That pales in comparison to how little Knowledge Beginnings cares for their toddlers and doesn't not offer the care that is described in their marketing materials. From one concerned parent to another, do not take your children there.

I have two children, ages 4.5 and 16mos, who have both attended the Westwood Knowledge Beginnings…read moresince they were 3 months old. It has been a great experience for them overall. Our girls have thrived in that environment, much due to the nurturing staff and just the right balance of academic focus and self-directed play. Our eldest child is quite prepared for kindergarten at this point but still has another year before she starts in public school! The staff is quite experienced, many of them having worked at the center for 5+ years and who also bring their own children to the location. Maryellen and Stacey, the Director and Associate Director respectively, are attentive to the needs of the children and their families while continuously guiding the staff toward excellence; recently demonstrated through achieving National accreditation. Some perceived drawbacks to this center might be: the location - Rt 1 can be quite busy and the parking lot is not huge, but the location was quite convenient for us and we've rarely had a problem with parking. Snacks are provided but lunches are not included in the cost of tuition- this suits our picky eaters! And the center has recently partnered with a company called Smart Lunches to provide meals for purchase. We absolutely recommend this center to families seeking a caring place where their children will blossom and grow.

We were a part of the Beginnings community from Summer 2017 through Spring 2020. One of the first…read morethings that drew us to the school was the ECSEL curriculum, which centered around the social-emotional development of the child. The language the staff used in communicating with the students, the visual references within the classroom, and the general culture of the school all emphasized the importance of these developmental skills. Our children learned so many key communication skills from this comprehensive approach. The teachers and staff that were hired were always professional, nurturing and well-trained. We knew that out children were always well-cared for and safe. The activities that the teachers created was amazing! Most classrooms had thematic units that would change monthly. The activities created by the staff around these themes was incredible and always surprised us by how detailed and comprehensive each unit was while still being broken down enough for its young learners to understand. Our children made lasting friendships and we met so many nice families as a result of the community feel that the school fostered. I would highly recommend Beginnings School to others!

I could not imagine a more warm welcome to a new place for our son, who runs into school every morning and talks about how much he loves his teachers and friends every night. We also have confidence that the Beginnings team is doing everything the right way in regards to keeping the whole community safe and healthy. I highly recommend Beginnings School to other families looking for an engaging and fun place dedicated to thoughtfully educating your children.

I would hate to do anything to make the wait list any longer for LDI, but I have no option other…read morethan to give them five stars - wait list be damned. This is by far the BEST day care center for your money in the entirety of Eastern Massachusetts. I know this because I have looked in every town from Salem to Plymouth (and everywhere in between), and anywhere you look, the rates are outrageous, the staff's responsiveness is horrendous, and the flexibility / hours are absurd. What working mother is able to pick her child up by 4:30pm?! Anybody? I didn't think so. My daughter has been attending LDI for almost a year, and the experience has been absolutely above and beyond anything I ever expected. On top of the rates being completely reasonable, the Director, Jessica, always answers emails within 24 hours (usually less), the staff is fantastic about communicating with parents, they follow all regulations set forth by the government, the facility is very clean, the playgrounds (that's right, there are two) are HUGE and tidy, and the people who work for LDI seem to genuinely love their jobs. The level of education is also a huge plus - my daughter knew her entire alphabet by 20 months, which may not be "advanced" per se, but it's much better than I could've done on my own! If that wasn't enough for you, Summer programming includes a magic show for all the families, a farm visit, picnics, Bubble Man, Olympics, and several family events to increase parent involvement in the childrens' day care experience. One more thing - they listen. If you have a comment, complaint, or encouragement, it will be heard and implemented if possible (and reasonable). LOVE this day care. Don't ever want to leave. That is all.

She simply loves learning and while in traditional private schools was bored and increasingly anxious about social interaction and group work. She's been at Fusion for two years. She works 1:1 with various teachers depending on the subject and while officially in 7th again this year (we decided to have her repeat as we are worried about her being closer in age to her peers when she graduates) she was able to take HS college prep biology last year, HS zoology and psychology this year in addition to her more typical classes (English, algebra 1, French 2, and medieval history) The teachers are wonderful with her. They have a collaborative style and really keep her focused, engaged, and enthusiastic. I receive academic summaries from each teacher everyday letting me know what they covered and how she did. Looking forward to her taking science in person at the Newton campus next year so she can do the labs in person rather than virtually.

After meeting with her, explaining how shy and anxious my kid is, she wrote him off within 5 mins for not being enthusiastic enough about going to a tutor and said Fusion could not help. (He succeeded no problem at another place last year, I just wanted a shorter drive and thought Fusion's website looked good). During the 2 tours she gave, she loudly proclaimed the silent area was no talking, completely disrupting the students that were there at the time. She demonstrated her agenda was more important than the students. She seems completely disingenuous about the school's stated goals and exceptionally rigid about how kids should be. I am really glad we will not be interacting with her regularly.
