The classrooms are in the basement, but the children also use the large church space for dance and movement. There is a beautiful play yard and the children spend a lot of unstructured time outdoors. The teachers all have specials strengths but every one is nurturing and creative. The curriculum is play based with classrooms rich in books, art supplies, and interesting items to spark their imaginations. It is a small school so the teachers can really cater to each child's needs and interests. The schools celebrates families of different backgrounds and every year there have been some non-native English speaking kids. Because it's a co-op and has flexible afternoon scheduling it is more affordable than other preschools in the area. Parent presence in the classroom is not expected or required. The co-op jobs are very reasonable and related to administration. Two half weekend days per year parents volunteer for clean-up and organization type jobs. It's nice that you get to know the other kids and families may of whom are from our neighborhood and who will be heading to Kindergarten with us next year.

Each of them brings the gift that your child needs to feel loved and nourished. They sense what you kid wants and it is there in a matter of seconds, nobody is left behind, nobody is forgotten. They are so creative and organized that even a big messy project is finished just in time to start a circle time. They are always looking for new authors, new music, new art projects because they enjoy it as much as our kids. Whatever is happening in CP is done not out of duty but out of love and joy. Not only our kids can feel it, we, their parents, are also exposed to this wonderful energy. Isn't it what we all want for our kids?

As our daughter has grown more comfortable, we've been able to easily add on days and enroll her in the lunch program. The best part of the Coop is the teachers. They are fully engaged with the kids, always there to play, help manage those big feelings, and tailor activities to each child's interests. We've seen no staff turnover in the year our daughter has attended. We appreciate the play-based approach, allowing kids to choose their own activities and follow their passions. The kids spend at least an hour at the playground every day , weather permitting. They also get to play in the splash pad when it's hot and sled in Waldstein Park when it snows. Being a parent cooperative, we love being involved in the school's operations and feeling like true partners in our daughter's education journey. Corner Coop has exceeded our expectations and we're grateful to be a part of such a nurturing and supportive community.

The infant and toddler room was safe, teachers communicate well, and are caring. The preschool room (2-3years) was also welcoming, caring teachers, and safe. They take the kids to activities like walks, local parks, and keep them safe. The best experience has been pre-K; They are really a comprehensive Pre K program, with 2 teachers / up to 20 kids, and incorporate reading, writing, science, math, field trips, park, library, swimming.. I have toured other pre-K's including expensive private preK's in newton. None of them were up to par with LCSH. LCSH is both quite affordable for its excellent location, and comprehensive. Diverse students are a plus. The other pre-K's including much more expensive private places like Bright Horizon's do not do field trips, swimming, theatre, yoga etc like LCSH incorporates....so, having toured a bunch of other pre-K I love LCSH the most.. Ms Sandra is the contact / local director and she is pretty busy I am sure responsive when needed. The teachers in Pre K have been also very responsive by the app every day, sharing photos, responding to your questions, etc. And accommodating for example I wanted privacy for bathroom for the kids/ dietary restrictions like gelatin etc they were always aware and made sure to follow the preferences. 10/10 recommend.

He loves it there and therefore we love it there. The teachers do a great job updating the parent communication app (Brightwheel) and I love getting anywhere from 3-10 photos of him doing fun things throughout the day. A brief update of what they did for the day is also posted in the app. Both toddler and preschool teachers send out a monthly curriculum of the theme for the month and what the kids are learning. This is great because then we can reinforce the same themes at home. They mix it up with activities including periodic yoga and children's musicians. If I were to have any more "wants" it would be to go outside more. They do go on walks and to the playground almost daily, depending on weather. I'm all about outdoor time so I would have them out in a drizzle and even when it's cold -- but, this isn't an outdoor school, and they do spend a good amount of time outside. Other big plusses in my book are low teacher turnover and hours (6:30am-6:30pm). We usually do ~8:30am-6pm but it's nice that it's open earlier for those days when I have an early appointment or it's an exceptionally early wake up. It's a welcoming environment and I'm glad my son is happy to run in to play every day.

The teachers are terrific and work as partners with families, and the Child Study Center is bright, clean and cheery with a big playground with nice equipment. I am very impressed with the curriculum and quality of the education; my children ask to go to school even on weekends. During the school day the classes walk to a duck pond on campus, go for nature walks in the woods, and visit the college's library. There are outdoor activities every day, except when it rains or the weather is just too cold, and then the children are taken to the college's gym to play which is a great alternative that not every school can offer. At certain times of the school day the three year old class has the opportunity to interact with the four year old class which is very nice. The setting is very secure - no one can drive on to the Pine Manor campus unless they have a reason to be on the campus - everyone needs to stop at the security gate. The CSC has a key card access system - parents are given a key, other visitors need to ring a doorbell. There is an alarm the sounds if doors to the outside are open for more than a certain amount of time, alerting the staff. Children can start attending the CSC at age 2 years 9 months. The school is a lab school affiliated with Pine Manor's Early Childhood Education Program. In addition to the classroom teachers, students from the college's Education program interact with the children making the student-teacher ratio quite high at times! The school is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). There are extended day options available as well. This is a true hidden gem - most people come to the CSC by word of mouth. Families are from many different towns including Boston, Brookline, Newton, Jamaica Plain, and Wellesley. It is a great place and well worth a visit as you are researching preschools!

All of the teachers/caregivers work very well as a team and take the time to get to know and love each of the children they look after and it really does show on the faces of the little ones attending the program. The learning curriculum is engaging for the kids and the communications with parents are frequent and clear . The Brightwheel app updates are amazing; seeing photos of my kid every day really brightened my mood. The physical space within the daycare is fun and inviting, with each classroom mocked up as a house or building in a neighborhood (hallway). I'd HIGHLY recommend this daycare to anyone in the Brookline/Boston area looking for somewhere their LO can socialize, exercise, learn, and grow in a safe and loving environment.

There was not a single room that we (and they) didn't love! My son left for Kindergarten a year ago and my daughter is leaving now at age 3 to be closer to our home for pick-up/drop-off reasons. I'm so incredibly grateful we had LCSH to care for our children. First, the leadership. Lissy and Gladys are wonderful. They are experienced, kind, friendly, professional, and very responsive. They clearly love and know each one of the children and care for their staff. There is very little staff turnover, which both creates a very nice family atmosphere for the kids and speaks to Lissy and Gladys' leadership. When the pandemic hit, Lissy and Gladys did everything they could to keep the children safe while understanding the needs of working parents. I also have compared their tuition to many other places and they are very reasonable. Second, the staff! They are such wonderful people - my kids loved them all because they are warm, loving, and great educators. My son was fully ready for Kindergarten and my daughter has learned fine motor skills, sharing, listening, resolving conflicts, and fairness. Often teachers from previous years would see my daughter in the hallway and give her big hugs. It meant a lot to us that they felt surrounded by people who care. Third, the other programs. Lissy and Gladys keep things fresh by bringing in music teachers, having field days, sports, and many other activities. My daughter looked forward to every Thursday when Ms. Monica would come to her class and bring instruments for the kids to play and to dance. Finally, the community. The parents and other children are a lovely group of people. We are sad to leave LCSH, but grateful we have the memories. If you visit the school - especially Boylston street - it's not the most beautiful location. But don't judge based on that! The school itself is very nice and the teachers get the kids out and about to the local parks for sports, water parties in the summer, and playground fun. Ultimately, LCSH is a great place with people who truly care about kids and families.

FJECC is a great school to consider and checks all the boxes. The teachers are experienced and know how to teach. Last year, they picked up on my daughter's processing problem, helped me find a speech pathologist, and call to formulate and reformulate the right plan regularly. It all starts at the top with a principal who somehow knows every child and every family. She also knows every public and private school and will help you find the right fit for your child after FJECC. The parents and community are also a nice bunch of people who just want to see their kids and yours happy and successfully learning. So yes you should consider FJECC. When I told them, they recommended I call headquarters, which I did. I spoke to one person initially, who told me my registration was all set and processed. When I called headquarters again after a week because I did not receive a confirmation, I spoke with another person who said nothing was processed and that I owe $150 for the registration fee. This is specifically after the first person told me I do not need to pay the fee on account of where I worked. So I chose to no longer complete my registration. Fast forward two weeks, I receive an email out of the blue from someone from Bright Horizons to register online, with a note that the fee can be waived depending on where I work. This time, the form is working. I went through the registration process and at the end, it said I did not owe any money. After I set up my account, however, I saw a $150 charge that was created on the date I spoke with the second person from headquarters. I reached back out to the person who emailed me, who recommended I call headquarters... The disorganized nature of this entire process, which has dragged on for more than a month, makes me hesitant to trust them with the care of my future child.
