Recently became a parent at GNS via the Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP)…read more I had many reasons to be nervous about my kiddo starting preschool - pretty big aversion to playing with other children, having essentially no daycare/nanny experience, loud "no school!" when the idea was brought up periodically in attempts to make it less foreign, being a picky eater, etc. True story - when we did a classroom visit, where families can come and see the school, be in the classrooms, and meet the teachers, my kiddo said "why do I like school?" 5 minutes into it and the rest is history (currently in the making). The thought "oh, I can leave my kiddo here" came to me pretty unexpectedly and clearly during that visit, and I legit got pretty emotional. The other reviews ring true. If GNS interests you even a little bit, I highly recommend that you check it out for yourself.

We love that it is play-based and emphasizes socio-emotional learning, and the community that is created through the cooperative structure. It is such a welcoming environment with teachers and a director that truly appreciate the uniqueness of each child. Being new to the area, we have appreciated the chance to get to know the other families beyond a hello at dropoff. Our daughter has so much fun with all the art projects, and being able to run around with her friends in the garden, and as parents, it has been the perfect opportunity to have a part in sharing the experience with her. We love GNS!

Still, Miss Alissa is still her favorite teacher -- she's been incredibly kind, patient, and supportive. I'm grateful to have found a place where my daughter feels safe, happy, and loved. I found the school to be good not only in terms of nurturing, but also for Aiziya's development.

Let's be honest....it's hard to find a really great daycare, when the overall industry does not pay…read moreits teachers well, or give them a lot of time off. There is typically a higher turnover rate to. The job is a difficult one, taking care of young children all day long with very little breaks. Everbrook Academy (Coolidge Corner North) offers an extremely convenient location, snacks and lunch included (for all except the infants, of course), and a new Director (Tonya), who has made a positive impact since she started around Christmas time. There are also a number of teachers who truly care about the children, as well as we parents and families. There have been times when the school definitely struggled with teacher retention. However, we have seen more stability now, and can still count on some of the more tenured, seasoned, and rock solid teachers to keep on leading the way. My son (pre-k class) has needed some increased attention and support in certain areas. I can without a doubt say that the teachers (Miss. Rachel and Mr. Kaleb), along with our new Director (Tonya), have done everything they can to communicate closely and directly with me, and to work with my son to help him from day to day. Miss. Rachel, in particular, has worked in the pre-k classroom for a few years now, and is an extremely bright, talented, sharp, attentive, and engaging teacher and leader. I feel lucky that we have her! Like I said before, I feel that Tonya and the teachers have been very involved and communicative regarding my son, which has been helpful. Tonya is always quick to respond when I have something to address. I believe that things have been improving at the school since she became the Director just a few months ago. I also believe that the curriculum is good, in terms of preparing the children for kindergarten. Overall, I think that the cost of daycare is high (and yes Everbrook has raised the price every year, and has some additional fees that creep in, like their "summer camp" program)...but their hours are decent (although used to be better before covid!), and with few holiday and vacation closures. Ultimately, this is a good, safe, and caring place to send young children.

I'm torn about this location. What they do well: they take on incredible feats of organization to…read moreget coverage for long hours, so that parents can work. We were also fortunate to have two very loving and dedicated teachers in the toddler class that stayed on together, despite the pattern of high turnover in other classrooms. What they need to do better: -Invest in teacher trainings on the social emotional development of children. This includes improving the book selection, some of which are backwards and downright scary for young kids. I've personally spoken with the regional manager about the curriculum, and she admitted to me that everything, from toys, to books, to what gets posted on class bulletin boards, is centrally controlled. If you are looking for a school that espouses child-led development, this is not it. -Hire people who want to be educators, not who are doing this for a day job. I was surprised to see a former teacher waiting tables in East Boston. She claimed the teacher pay was too low and many of her colleagues were making the choice to leave. Note: this is a publicly-traded company and they are for-profit. They cut back on salaries for teachers, though they charge the same amounts that not-for-profits do. -Be more open to parent feedback (it's heard but not always incorporated by management). BH has no core educational philosophy (I thought BH was Montessori based but that's not the case in practice). The teachers in the Pk class are clearly stretched thin and not able to plan effectively for activities. I hear a lot of reprimanding children for not sitting still and listening instead of engaging them. We ended up moving to an independent PK with a smaller class size.

They constantly update the "My Bright Day" app throughout the day (not sure how they find the time to do it!) with photos and comments, so you feel fully engaged with your kiddo's whereabouts and what they're up to each day. Like most daycare's there is a turnover in staff whether it is the teachers or the directors. We lucked out however and pretty much had teachers that were there long term and were very highly regarded. These teachers became a second mom to my child - they taught her things I never would have dreamed about teaching my child had she been in a home setting. I give them full credit for potty training my child at 25 months. We have had the teachers in my home and they've been invited to birthday parties. A few teachers even took the time to visit my child when she was in Children's Hospital for a week (after they finished their day). No daycare is perfect, don't let them tell you any different. The director we had prior to leaving was Meghan who was wonderful (probably my favorite out of all of them - I think she might have been # 4 over the course of our time there). No matter what daycare you look into or reviews you read there will always be a few with 1 star. Don't let that deter you from visiting this center and checking it out. We all parent differently and have different expectations on what we need or want for our children. My child was loved in this school for a long time - it was a sad day when we left to progress to Kindergarten. I credit the fact that my child is thriving in Kindergarten to her experience at Little Sprouts. Also - give your child time to adjust to a new setting. Children can't and won't adapt overnight. My child cried frequently at drop off for years (master manipulator) I was no sooner in my car driving to work in the mornings and I would get a text from the teacher with a pic of my child smiling. At the end of the day she didn't want to leave! We were at the school alongside many of the same families over the years. From my experience the only time folks left was because they moved, job situation changed, or the kid moved to K1. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions. Happy to answer them!

She has a great time playing with all of their toys and games (we sometimes buy duplicates for her to use at home, she enjoys them so much), and we can see clearly that they love her and she loves them! Also, the daily written reports are useful-- it's really helped us to establish a schedule for her naps and meals, and it's nice to see what activities she did during the day, like walks, art projects, or playing with jello. So far she's still in the infant room, but the toddler rooms look like they'll be a ton of fun once she makes the move in a few months! Basically, this is a great daycare. I feel completely comfortable leaving my baby there every day, and I would recommend it to anyone.

My son attended both the infant and toddler program for 18 months. I agreethatthe infant program…read moreis very good teacher to infant ratio is 3:1 and strongly adhered to. The toddler program,is notably not as good, my son loved his teachers, but there was a general lack of attention to detail. The sheets were not always completed or followed. The two teachers were constantly strapped for time and at lunch time it was just chaotic. I also think the cost of this daycare is absurd, location was key factor for my selection of daycare but I paid for it. The staff has a high turnover, which creates a lot of inconsistency for both teachers and toddlers. also, it was my impression that the teachers were not always happy and were not treated as wellie even compensated as they should have been. In general, after giving my 30 day notice, I was reallysurised that the assoc Director did not eve ask why we were leaving. I found this whole situation so unfortunate, and was very disappointed with the responses I got fro the site director and assoc director. I wil Say that my son enjoyedlaying with others and developmentally thrived as a infant and toddler which was expected, so they do have a decent curriculum. Overall, I felt for such a global, corporate daycare I was not getting what I paid for, it was why I the chose to have my son enter another center, not corporate and family run and. Not to mention$500 cheaper / a month and much more flexible with times. I won't write this place off,but I would suggest parents to enquire and compare in their options. More money does not equal high quality, and at BH it's big corporate daycare for big bucks.
