Don't go to this school! I realized this is the first review for this school. So I made a mistake to choose this school with no reviews. Except the location, nothing is good. We moved down to Brookline at the beginning of this March. There are a few good public schools nearby. I thought the classrooms there were a bit crowded. For my child to quickly get used to the new environment, I tried to contact several private schools at Newton and Cambridge and we also visited the bright horizons centers nearby which my child can attend right away. When I was contacting these private schools, most of them responded to me nicely and told me to apply for the semester starting in September. It is the mid of this semester and I might not be able to start right away. I understand that. And when I was contacting the Advent School, I thought the location was convenient for me and even though there was no reviews I still called them. That turned out to be the biggest mistake I made! Then the nightmare began! The admission director Nora Goddard is irresponsible at all. I really doubted if she likes her job or not. I could never reach her on her phone. Even though I left voicemail several times. She never returned my calls. The girl at the reception was lovely though and helped me to get her to call me back. But that was over two weeks later which was the end of March! At that time I was just going to choose the Bright Horizons Center at Brookline for my child. She responded that my child can attend Advent for this semester and told me to go for a school visit in a week's time. I agreed as I needed to go to California for business for the week so I had to wait for a week anyway. Then I visited Advent at the beginning of April and didn't feel anything special and the space there was also small except the location was good. Nora sounded nice at the meeting and told me to apply online and handed in all other paperwork. Then she would schedule a school visit for my child afterwards right away. I shouldn't trust her! It was a big mistake! To save time I filled out the numerous forms on the application on the same night and got my child's previous teacher to fill in the reference form very quickly even though it was the national holiday in China. I was able to get everything handed in a very short time. Then it was long waiting time again! I had to go to her office to check if she has received my application and the check for the application fees etc during working days! She then had us to wait for another week to get back to us with a scheduled visit which was another two weeks later! I should have stopped at that time. Thought she sounded honest and I shouldn't miss the appointment as l should keep my words. So I waited for another two weeks to take my daughter for the school visit. Then it was waiting again! After another one week I really couldn't wait any more and emailed her cos I could never reach her on the phone. Finally she responded and said they couldn't take my child in for this semester and will offer me a place for next semester! I just couldn't believe it! If you cannot take in students for this semester, you could tell me at the first place so I could make a decision for other options rather than keep waiting and waiting for almost two months! And this semester is almost finished, my child has wasted two months' time for nothing! I think my biggest mistake was to trust someone like her who is irresponsible and has no respect for other people whatsoever. If you couldn't do it, tell people right way rather than waste their time and keep them waiting. I think she just doesn't give a damn shit about us. I don't know who gives her the privilege to treat people like this. As a private school claims itself to have good reputation, how could the management let people to treat students and parents like this! I really regret my decision to choose this stupid school at the first place. And I know they don't give a damn shit about my complaint as well. But I need to warn people who don't know this situation and make the same mistakes again like me. Remember: Don't even consider this school! There are plenty of other good private schools over there. This is my honest advice for you! read more
