Delice Chocolatier & Patisserie - Dubai chocolate taco form

Nope! Don't believe the hype and definitely don't do what others do and give in and say "oh these…read morecakes are so good." You know that you had better cake from an HEB and not pay hundreds for it. Fat Kids don't even eat the chocolate cakes from this place. I had a great picture of 80% leftover cake in the trash but the yelps took it down.

This place is in a great spot for foot traffic because of all the other places next to it. When you walk in there are tons of chocolates, cakes, macarons;etc. I took a look around the whole shop just to see what they offer and I have to say the options seemed almost limitless. I did like that they had gifting chocolates already out. After walking around, I ended up just buying the Kanafeh & Pistachio Taco which was a whopping $14.00 ! I do have to say for the size of the taco, I don't believe it's worth that much. Don't get me wrong it was very delicious and can appreciate how much of the mixture they tried to put in it, but the chocolate ended up being too much for me. Now to talk about the service, this is where things were a little awkward since the 2 employees were having a conversation the female was loudly talking about how she was pissed that things had to be done a certain way and complaining about doing stickers or something to the male, when I tell you I heard the entire conversation.... I heard the entire thing. Just my 2 cents, if you're going to complain about anyone that has to do with the business maybe be a little quieter with customers around or wait until they leave.

I forgot the exact flavors I got, but I remember trying pistachio, Dubai chocolate, and one other flavor. They were all really good. Since I was hungry, I also grabbed a chocolate croissant, which was delicious as well. I forgot to ask them to heat it up, but it was still very enjoyable. On the side, I tried their ice cream, and it was honestly some of the best ice cream I've had in San Antonio. I believe I got pistachio, taro, and coffee on the bottom, and they were all great. At the end, I also got Turkish coffee just out of curiosity. It's not in the picture because I purchased it after I finished my dessert. The coffee was very strong, with a unique flavor that made it fun to try. One small suggestion: the coffee was very very hot and nearly overflowed the small cup, so it might be helpful to add a "cup sleeve", use a slightly bigger cup, or offer an option to make it a bit cooler (adding an ice or two). Overall, this is definitely a cool place to hang out, especially if you enjoy sweets, coffee, and trying different flavors. Highly recommended and will be back for more!

We tried their fruit shaped mousse cakes this time and they taste just as good as it looks. The mango is definitely my favorite, it had mango puree insight and the mousse was light but a little more gelatinous than I expected. The lemon was super sour as expected but not as enjoyable. It was super busy this night so there was absolutely no seating.

Their baking ingredients are sourced from France and the recipes are from her and her husband. And they're a local restaurant which I love supporting! We had the Petit Dejuener Deluxe breakfast which includes one pastry (either a croissant, chocolate croissant or bread pudding), a baguette (with either butter, homemade jam or honey), organic fresh eggs made to order or quiche slice, fresh squeezed orange juice and a yogurt with granola and fresh fruit and a black coffee or tea. It's a great option for those unable to decide on what to eat for breakfast. They have sandwiches, individual baked goods, à la carte items and hot and cold drink options as well. Please note that parking can be a little difficult when is very busy, however if you are coming on an early morning before stores open you should be fine. The restaurant itself is really nice and love the open concept option they have. Unfortunately their espresso machine wasn't working during my visit and they only had a couple coffee/tea options to choose from. I decided to go for their cold brew since I needed a good caffeine kick and also go their cheese danish toasted. The cold brew was perfection and the cheese danish was absolutely delicious as per usual. My only reason for not giving them a full five-stars was the staff. The people working the counter and the drink section were just slacking pretty bad. You could tell the cooks were hustling and the manager was back and forth cleaning and running around, but those other two were clearly bringing down the ship. One clear example was my cold brew order. The person working the drink orders forgot to check so after some time waiting I decided to go and ask her directly. She immediately prep the drink and then told me there were no lids, which I have no issue with if they ran out. However, I then overheard another staff telling her where they are. You would think she would've come back and be like "ma'am, here is a lid apologies for the confusion". Noup, I could hear her just saying "oh! I didn't know". Similar to my case, I overheard more silly and ridiculous issues with orders that could've been fixed if those two staff members would just give a little more care. Regardless, I don't think this location might be the best representation of Bakery Lorraine as brand. I have always been a fan and love their location at The Pearl.
