Came here for my husbands birthday lunch and the food was good. We were so full from the appetizer we could only eat half! The staff owners were very friendly and it is small inside but worth the try.

This is my favorite place to eat when I'm in the area. The staff are always incredibly friendly and food is amazing time and time again. The Huli Huli chicken with sauteed squash is my favorite, but I've never had anything I didn't love. Pupu platter is a great way to sample the appetizers and see what you like.

Friendly service, the food is very flavorful. I especially love the corn. Today I had the huli-huli chicken and it was delicious! I don't normally care for Hawaiian Mac salad (I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise), but this one was palatable. My only hang-up was the long wait time. I suggest you go after work or call for pick-up, if you don't have a lot of time to wait. We went for lunch, but had to switch to 'to-go' because of the long wait time.

So many excellent menu items it was hard to decide. I definitely will be back to try some other entrees. Ordered a combo draggin meat and huli huli chicken. A lot of food for $12. Portion size was good and I could not finish my entire meal. Came with rice, Mac and cheese, and a side of your choice. Service was good and I really liked my lunch.

First of all, the service and hospitality are absolutely INCREDIBLE. They are very friendly and as others have said, they make you feel like a family member and right at home. They reserved a table for six of us around noon time on a Friday - not sure if they do this for everyone or if it was because our incredible hostess had the "hookup." I had the Loco Moco (hamburger steak on top of white sticky rice, topped with two eggs over easy but you can order them however you like). The Loco Moco was good but it just didn't have a whole lot of seasoning to it. The entree included what they refer to as macaroni/potato salad but to me it just seemed like a good macaroni salad. It might have had potato salad ingredients, but I really didn't notice it. I was also able to select an additional side (they are not listed on the menu) and I chose the namasu cucumber salad, which was REALLY awesome. I highly recommend it. Although I did not order it, one of my lunch buddies let me sample the coconut cream corn. I'm not a huge fan of coconut and although the combination of coconut and cream corn did not sound appealing, I was dead wrong. It was OUTSTANDING. They have been in business since the mid 1980's so they must be doing something right. Get out there and give them a chance folks.

Whenever I come to San Antonio, I always choose Aloha Kitchen to get my island fix. They serve similar dishes I ate where I grew up so it's great comfort food. Their menu is basic island dishes which I actually have no complaints on that. They stick to their culture and make dishes appeasing to all customers. The first time I got Poke, and had to wait which was well worth it. I've tried almost everything but the dessert. I always get too full. Huli Huli chicken, curry chicken, and loco moco are one of my favorite dishes. The Mac salad is so good but this time I noticed it was more of the yellow color. I've never had Mac salad with that color. It was white from the mayo. Not sure if they added mustard cause it Sidney have l that taste. I appreciate the white colored Mac salad though, it's authentic Hawaiian. If you get loco moco, please get sunny side or over easy egg. It's not the same with scrambled. Never really heard of anyone ordering it that way. They serve spam, yes Spam which I love! Don't judge me :) I'm an islander The people here are always friendly. Always welcoming and treat you like ohana. I will continue to come here each time I come to San Antonio and get my fix and leave with a full stomach. Aloha!

Now this is a great spot to grab some delicious Hawaiian food‼ Seriously this place will hit the spot. They offer plenty of the Hawaiian favorites I've experienced upon my visits to Hawaii. Give the loco moco a try. It's a delicious bowl of rice with a beef patty, gravy, & an egg overeasy . We also devoured a beef kalbi plate that gives you juicy bites of those tasty korean beef short ribs & the sides will blow you away. Love the kimchi cucumbers, Hawaiian creamy macaroni, with delicious sticky rice.

Photo from their site of leis with alternating orchids and roses, so this is what I expected.

I had attended a luau at this restaurant (when they were on Austin Hwy) years ago and remembered they made fresh leis when I was invited to a hula themed party recently. I visited their website and saw pictures of their leis, which did not have names or descriptions. It states to email them for a lei price list so I did. I received the list the same day and since it did not come with pictures and the pictures online didn't have names/descriptions as previously mentioned, I spent some time looking up pictures of flowers so I could get an idea of what the finished product looked like. I made my choices and sent an email back with my order. After several days with no reply I called Aloha and said I wanted to purchase leis. I was told I needed to be sent a price list. I mentioned that I already had and sent in my order but hadn't received a reply. I was told someone would call me. I did receive a call a day or so later and I asked if they had read my email because it contained my order. The woman that called was rather brusque and said she receives too many emails but proceeded to research on her end. I finally just told her what my order was. She asked what color lokelani (small roses) I wanted and then repeated my order back to me and told me the total. I asked, "You want me to pay now?" She said, "Well, yeah!" Her delivery just left something to be desired. Now I wish I had asked her to email me with what we agreed on so I that I could have a paper trail and even further discuss what the finished products would look like but based on the pictures of leis on their site I felt like I had a very good idea what to expect. So I ordered a single lei of pink lokelani with orchids combo ($30), a kupe'e (wrist or anklet piece) of the same flowers ($10) and a hair pick of an orchid to match ($5). What I received was a single lei of only orchids and no mini roses ($25), kupe'e of mostly orchids with only 4 pink mini roses and the "hair pin" was a single pink carnation with no clip or pin to hold in place in my hair. They could have at least made the hair pin of mini roses to match the kupe, nevermind mind that the lei contained no mini roses and so I spent $5 more for the lei because it was supposed to have mini roses. And $5 for a single carnation? It was supposed to be an orchid and again, it didn't come with anything to hold it in place in my hair. For $5 I could have bought a bouquet of carnations at HEB for more flowers and less money if that's what I wanted instead of the orchid as I ordered. The woman that took my order told me I needed to pick up my items by 1:30pm on a Saturday. It was a man that handed me my order and since I was on my way to hula party that day I figured he wouldn't know the specifics of my order nor would there be time to correct it. The flowers are beautiful but it just wasn't what I ordered so proceed with caution if you place an order. 2A picture of a lei from their website of what I was expecting based on the price list description of a lei of orchid and mini roses. Keep in mind their price list is text only. It is dated 5/1/10. Nearly a decade later, it should be updated again with pictures 3. The lei I received of only orchids without the mini roses as ordered 4. The kupe'e of orchids and only 4 mini roses, and not even alternating with the orchids as though they were an afterthought 5. The carnation "hair pin", not the orchid hair pin I ordered, with nothing to attach in it to my hair so that it could stay in place

Aloha mai e! If you're ready for the only authentic Hawaiian food in San Antonio (at least as far as I know) then you're ready to make the drive, bradda, to Aloha Grill. The family that owns and runs the small restaurant has been in San Antonio for decades, but maintains strong ties to Hawai'i, especially since they still have family on basically every island in the volcanic chain. What's that mean to you, mainlander? It means you get to munch on delicious potato chips made from spuds from two-three different Hawaiian islands. They're different colors because the potatoes absorb the volcano-enriched minerals in the island soil. Yup. Awesome. Feel free to dip them into the mango papaya "salsa" they're served with. It's unique and very tasty. It also means if it's your first time having Hawaiian, or just want to have a classic, you're gonna want to try the Huli Huli Chicken. It's rotisserie cooked chicken breasts with a bed of sticky white rice, but what makes it truly worthwhile is the huli sauce. It's homemade and doesn't have a bunch of preservatives or artificial ingredients. It's made with real honey, so you know it's good. Oh but wait, there's more: coconut creamed corn. I'm not an alliteration fiend, you read that correctly. It's corn. It's creamed. It's got coconut amazing deliciousness mixed right in. Do me a favor and TRY not to eat the bowl and possibly your fork after you've devoured this side dish. Be sure to tell the folks at Aloha Grill "mahalo" at the end of your meal, you know you'll want to. WAIT! Don't overeat! You have GOT to save room for dessert. If you need to decide between the haupia (gelatin-like dessert, flan-ish) or the mango pie, well, good luck. But I can tell you from personal experience the mango pie is AMAZING and homemade. Just like my Hawaiian (best friend's) mama used to make. I could go on and on about the true Hawaiian hospitality at this aptly decorated restaurant, but you really owe yourself a visit. Their hours are also very islander, so here's your unofficial notification (also on their website): Lunch Mon thru Fri, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Dinner Tues thru Sat: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Now komo mai e ai (come in and eat)! Aloha!

What a very nice Ohana feeling you get when you walk into this place. We went here to see if we could purchase a lei for my daughter's graduation. I was told that I would have to place an order, they didn't have any on hand. Bummer Since we were there we went ahead and ordered 2 meals for dine in and 2 to go. I had the Katsu Chicken with a side of cream corn and macaroni salad. My hubby had the Huli Huli chicken with the same sides (he always copies me ). The food came out quickly. My Katsu chicken was freshly cooked, it was must have come straight off the stove because I burnt my tongue. My hubby's Huli Huli chicken wasn't as fresh. He said it seems like it may have been sitting for a while. The cream corn was good, not too sweet. The macaroni salad didn't have much flavor at all. The amount of rice was only 1 Ice cream scoop(not enough for my hubby). Our to go orders were Draggin Meat and Mahi Mahi with the same side items. My son loved the Draggin Meat, he didn't like the cream corn and said the macaroni salad was ok. My daughter had the Mahi Mahi, she said it wasn't anything special. She wasn't too impressed. Overall, I would go back again if I were in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. The ladies who served and rang us up were very sweet and the price for all 4 meals was about $35 plus. Not bad at all.

I've not had Hawaiian food before, so I have nothing to compare Aloha Kitchen's version. All I can offer is a review based upon personal preference for flavors, textures, etc. I ordered a combination plate: Chicken Katsu and Draggin' Meat for proteins with coconut creamed corn, sticky rice and macaroni/potato salad for sides; there was also a small container of katsu sauce. The Draggin' Meat was more or less beef teriyaki as far as flavor was concerned, although not quite as sweet, which is fine by me. But the texture, unfortunately, was somewhat tough and chewy, which detracted from the enjoyment of the dish. The Chicken Katsu was breast meat pounded thin and coated with panko breadcrumbs. There was no hint of greasiness but, other than the sauce, the flavor was muted. It didn't have an off taste, just didn't excite my palate. That sauce was another matter. A variety of flavors were present--sweet, smokey, a bit salty from soy sauce, I tried it on everything and it brightened up every component of the plate. As for the sides, the coconut creamed corn stood out. I've had something similar in Thai restaurants. It was a simple preparation and had the mouth-feel of good creamed corn with the extra kick from the coconut milk. The sticky rice was, well, just that--sticky rice. The macaroni/potato salad was again, just that--a combination of potato and macaroni salads. Here again, though, the flavors just didn't pop out; there was nothing detracting about the flavor per se, however. Were I rating this restaurant on food alone, I would award three stars. But the genuine warmth and friendliness of the entire staff adds another. My friends and i were greeted with "Aloha," and indeed, the graciousness of the islands shone through the staff. Many thanks to them for making our lunch memorable.

Great service and friendly staff! We were welcomed immediately upon entering the establishment. First off, I have been to Hawaii before, so I have some experience with Hawaiian foods. The menu is simple, but has all the typical Hawaiian foods. We ordered the Kalua pork and cabbage and the Huli chicken. Sides of macaroni were included along with a scoop of rice. Furikake (sesame and seaweed sprinkles) was also available. We opted for coconut cream corn instead of the squash and other sides available that seem to change daily. I really liked the Huli chicken because it had a sweet teriyaki flavor. The Kalua pork was tasty, but too salty for me. It also didn't have a strong smoked flavor. I think I prefer a roasted or oven baked style. The creamed corn was good because it had a coconut flavor. Sweet and fresh tasting. We completed our meal with mango pie, which tasted very good! If you like mangos, this pie would be your highlight. It reminded me of a pumpkin pie with mango flavors. I would definitely like to come back to try the other dishes, the reason I chose the rating is because the food didn't quite my palate. The service was very good though so it earns its stars!
