    the food truck
    Ethan Z.

Excellent food truck experience. My girlfriend and I both got the Loco Moco which comes with a dessert! The plate is a very generous amount of food and real tasty. the flan is a small portion but the texture is amazing and very sweet for a small treat at the end of an already tasty meal. Side note: a loco moco we ordered accidentally tipped over and spilled all over the ground, my girlfriend brought it to the attention of the food truck worker who happily made another plate. I'd happily give this food truck my business again. Very grateful to know good people and service is around atx.

    Hawaiian chicken dinner

This was really good. I came by on my way home from work. I bought the Hawaiian chicken meal. Was very filling. I actually couldn't eat the whole thing. Had left overs for lunch. Chicken was super moist with so much flavor. The rice was good. I had a macaroni salad, and flan for dessert. I can't wait to try their lumpia and pancit. I'll be back again to try more of their menu! Such a great food truck park. There about 8 to 10 other trucks.

I was so excited to try and so glad I did! It was hard to decide what to eat, because I wanted to try everything. I was able to narrow it down and so happy with my decision. I will definitely want to return to try their other plates. So, The pork BBQ was made to perfection the meat was tasty and the sauce made it so much better. It came with a Hawaiian macaroni salad and my only regret is that I didn't order more. The rice and veggies were also a perfect combination with the pork BBQ. Now, my fave part was that the plate included a dessert. I picked the leche flan and it was the right sweetness after having a nice meal. The kimchee shrimp was so hard to stop eating and it was seasoned so well. Both lumpia's are exactly what you want from Filipino food.

THE Filipino pork BBQ - excellent

Sarap! The Filipino pork BBQ brought back memories of the pork BBQ my Lolo (grandfather in Filipino) would grill up for the family party every New Year's Eve. It was a real Ratatouille moment - you know, with the food critic being reminded of his childhood upon taking that first bite. Well, it's not quite on the same level as my Lolo's but it's pretty damn good if they can do that. The pork BBQ specifically I feel is difficult to find in the Austin metro area, so I'm happy Far East Far West is close to me. I always gotta get the lumpia too. Their katsu and shoyu chicken are also good but I haven't tried anything else from the menu yet. Looking forward to trying their poke, lau lau, and loco moco sometime. As for their pork adobo, I prefer chicken but I want to try this too sometime. It's nice to have a good option for Filipino food that's closer to me than Little Mama's, as well as a second option for Hawaiian food besides Shoyu Sugar. I'll keep coming for sure. Maraming salamat (at magandang gabi bayan...sorry, corny joke for any Filipinos who watched TV Patrol growing up), Far East Far West!

    Poke Bowl and Leche Flan

We were driving around and discovered this Filipino food truck by chance. We're so glad we did! The Poke Bowl was fresh and reminded me of authentic Hawaiian poke. My fiancé ordered the Pork BBQ plate and the BBQ sticks were full of flavor and the mac salad was good too. My favorite was the Leche Flan; it was so smooth. The owner was really kind to us and their service was great. We would definitely like to order from them again if we're in the area!

Before I start this review, note that the husband is Filipino and we had a recent Hawaii trip. So these flavors were fresh in our mind. The food is legit good. The portions are great, the flavors are spot on, and the dessert is a nice little addition. Even though the lau lau was not covered in taro leaves, it was so good. The truck is owned by a lovely human being who is Filipino and lived in Hawaii so I respect that honoring of the roots. I will definitely come back and also want to check out the other food trucks in that park as well.

Amazing Filipino-Hawaiian food truck! Austin is so lucky to have them to satisfy our island cravings. I didn't get a shot of their amazing Pork Lau Lau but sadly, I ate it too quickly. Haha! Service is always so friendly and their food is made fresh, cooked to order. You can't go wrong with any of their dishes. Be sure to visit them to get a taste of both the Far East and Far West!

Updated review: They're open again!! As soon as I heard I commuted 30 minutes, and as always, the food was great and fresh. Service was great and reflects in the taste of the food. The sides and the bbq skewers are super tasty, fluffy rice and a nice rich dessert to top it off. Such a fulfilling meal at a reasonable price. Yummmmyy

After seeing a post on social media I decided to give this place a try. I'm from Hawaii and there's only 1 or 2 places in Austin that makes legit dishes from Hawaii. The location has lots of picnic tables, a restroom and parking. They are located off the Main Street so you can't miss it. I already knew what I wanted to order - the Lau Lau plate with macaroni salad. It comes with rice, 2 sides and dessert. Great deal! Plus they got Aloha Maid drinks. The lau lau is not made with traditional luau leaves, it is made with spinach. I was surprised to see pokè and lomi salmon on my plate. The portion size was good for me. My dessert was flan. Everything was good and reminded me of a lau lau plate from Hawaii. Lau lau was hot and tasty. All I can say is the food was 'ono' and I will be back to order something else.

True authentic Filipino and Hawaiian food! Tried the Loco Moco AND Filipino Pork BBQ and both were HEAVENLY DELICIOUS! The Loco Moco i the perfect savory meal with beef, egg and rice cooked to perfection The Filipino BBQ was the perfect combo of sweet, tangy BBQ!! Also, super friendly staff, if you're not sure what to get that they will gladly help you out! Highly recommend Far East Far West if you're looking for authentic food or to try something new! Can't wait to go back!

This is a must try. Food is so authentic and made fresh to order. While the other food trucks are gone, Far East Far West remains...thankfully. Victor, the owner/chef, is super friendly and takes great pride in what he prepares. Food is so good and never disappoints!

We decided to try a few different items from this little food truck park. Far East Far West was the deciding factor though. That loco moco was exactly what I was in the mood for. It was served so hot, so fresh. The egg was perfect, gravy was delicious (and the guy volunteered extra gravy, which made me, a sauce whore, so happy). The macaroni salad was delish as well. It was served with a dessert which I forgot to eat and a slaw which I didn't personally care for but it looked good! My boyfriend got the bbq pork skewers, which we both loved. Absolutely recommend this place.

    Lau Lau plate

A Filipino Hawaiian food truck located in north west austin near Travis lake. This is the first time I had Lua Lau, but according to the chef, they steam the pork and vegetables for 8 hrs. So the pork was very tender. The pork was a bit too fatty for me as I can get sensitive to very fatty food. The side dishes, the poke, was pretty good. I was very fully by the end of the meal. So you get good amount of food for a good price. According to my friends, their menu is served very common Hawaiian food. So if you never had it before, try Hawaiian food without going to Hawaii, you can come here.

Oh man, where to begin... while looking into Filipino food spots in San Antonio, this place kept…read morecoming up over and over again. Safe to say, the hype led me here--and here's how it went. AMBIANCE Parking: Two plazas one to the store and one to the restaurant. So you shouldn't have any issues. Seating: Plenty! Room for maybe 70-100. Great for individuals, pairs, large groups, such as party reservations. Vibes: My pulse of San Antonio was pretty charming (especially the Downtown area). This area is moreover the grit and grind/not so touristy area but an important contributor to the San Antonio economy none the less. The restaurant/bakery/store itself is awesome! I dig the mural of Filipino-descent player - Dylan Harper, there's even a cool playground outside for kids. It was cool receiving a warm kamayan welcome from the servers as you enter. I like the Filipino tropical energy the restaurant gives out from the plant decor, art, and their homage to their roots from their ancestor shelf. The pop lofi music in the background was comforting to chill and enjoy the food. Great for a solo food adventure, catch up meal with a friend, or special occassion party. FOOD / DRINKS Sari-Sari Special (Recommend) For all indecisive people, this is the way, this is the choice. I ordered the three main plate specifically choosing the (Diniguan, Chicken adobo, and Fried Pork Belly). The staples of the lumpia and noodles were a delight. Lumpia had a nice umami crunch and the noodles were comforting. Chicken Adobo - is my usual baseline to measure foods and this provided a nice comfort feel with a balance of savory soy-vinegar with a lot of sauce to add on to your rice. Dinuguan - if you don't know, now you know. This pork stew was another comfort delight. As the gravy mixed well with the vinegar and spices. A good stew texture with that signature rich savory and tangy flavors. Pork Belly Kawali - For something signature, this is it. As recommended by Owner Adrian - usually you need special sauce to complement this dish but it stands very well alone - a rich savory balance of crispy edges, tender pork meat, and natural buttery fat with every slice. Ube Horchata (Recommend) This was a fun fusion drink. A homage to the Mexican influences and Filipino influences. Creamy, cinnamon-forward horchata mixed with ube sweetness. CUSTOMER SERVICE Rome was great! Friendly and knowledgable on the menu. I enjoyed our conversation. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Great food, reasonable prices, and a pleasant vibe. I enjoyed my experience here overall. I'm usually critical on Filipino restaurants as they can't top my family's cooking but I feel like this complements their cooking. I'd actually take them over here for the food and the community comfort. For those in San Antonio, this place is definitely worth stopping by. Salamat and ingat to Adrian, Camille, and the rest of the Sari-Sari family. #FilipinoFoodMovement #RepresentAZN TIPS: * A great intro for first timers to Filipino food. Be sure to try combo plates if it's your first time--you get more variety * Don't skip the market section

I've not had much else here except the pork barbecue since the pata is a favorite. I tried the lumpia sometime ago and it wasn't bad at all. Service was quick, though it was not during peak hours. Filipino pop music covers play in the background, and the decor adds to the feel of being back in the islands. The Filipino service and cook staff also are good signs. There is a store connected to the restaurant where you can find great Filipino staples like snacks and condiments and even frozen items like tocino and bangus. Definitely will be back as I always do when I'm in San Antonio.

There's a few streetfood items here that's hard to get elsewhere in San Antonio, like bulaklak. I was tempted to try even though it's pretty unhealthy. They're crispy, fried pork tissue fat and usually have a nice chewy texture. My favorite thing that we ordered was the pork sisig. It came out on a sizzling plate. I just wish it had more mayo and garnishes on it. Mostly just pork flavor. Our waiter was nice and the freshly made juice was amazing. We got a huge glass of fresh watermelon juice and calamansi lemonade. The restaurant itself seems like a venue for parties too, since they have a small karaoke stage. They also connect to a small grocery store with several Filipino staples. I was able to pick up Datu Puti vinegar and some Boy Bawang cornick! When we arrived at 12:15, the place was empty. It was really strange... was there no 'lunch rush'? Anyhow, there was a guy behind the counter but offered no assistance. We didn't know if we sit ourselves or wait to be seated; so we asked. He looked confused. My son went to the counter (where they sell pleather wallets, Funko Pop dolls, olive oil, and purses). Yes, you read that right. The guy offered one menu for the three of us, saying they only had the one. It looked like someone took a bite out of it (part of it was missing). Since we were planning to eat there, we sat ourselves and decided to make the best of it. A lady came to the table (we thought she might be the owner). She mentioned she can only offer four items on the entire menu - she then rattled off what they were - but it was so fast, I don't remember what she said. There was no buffet, and nothing else. I'd never had Filipino food before, so I had questions. We never got to my questions. She asked my son what he'd like. Since he didn't get to look at the one menu yet, he said that he'd like to get lumpia for the office and chicken adobo. She asked how many lumpia and he said about twenty. She then told him they were $1 each and walked away. That was it. We weren't allowed to finish ordering. He didn't even get a drink order in before she walked away. We sat there giggling about how strange this encounter was. We assumed she would have been back to get the rest of our orders. She did not return. Fifteen minutes later, she comes out and says everything is ready to go. We all look at each other wondering what happened. In unison, we got up and went to the cashier. I mentioned to her that we were all hoping to order and try their food; but she didn't give us the chance. She looked shocked and offered to finish taking our orders, but we had to explain that our time was wasted and we now had to get drive thru food and hurry back to work. The 'lumpia' was way over cooked - gave the impression of egg rolls (which is what I've been calling them); and his chicken adobo was gross - gray colored chicken. We fully expected my son to get sick. He hasn't yet - which is good. This is an excellent way to guarantee we will absolutely NOT be back.

As I waited for my food I noticed she was either on FaceTime or watching videos with her phone on the prep table/cutting board while rolling raw lumpia. This is so unsanitary, phones hoard ALOT of germs. As for the food, it was ok, pork sticks could've used more char and sauce, lechon cuts had an equal amount of meat to fat ratio, pancit needs just a touch more flavoring, rice was nice and dry the way I like it. I tried one lumpia because I was pretty grossed out about her phone and they were tasty, crunchy, and rolled tight. Overall it was ok.
