    Letchon Kawali
    Carree W.

Our first time here and they were having a party and people were doing Karaoke. We had great service and they were really nice people. I had the letchon kawali and halo halo and my daughter had the pork sinigang. We both enjoyed our food and had leftovers after because they were pretty big portions.

My first visit was a nice experience. They have a buffet on Sat & Sun from 11-3. It was cheaper than what I was going to order off menu and had the items plus many more that I wanted to try. Really nice and helpful staff. And the food was good.

The food was excellent, definitely home cooking. No crazy ingredients very simple simple. The service is awesome. Everybody there is beautiful and friendly. I felt like I was in the Philippines. Ambience is pretty simple. It's nice. It's clean even the bathrooms are clean. This is an awesome place to eat. I will come again.

First time in this new Filipino restaurant. They are going through some growing pains, being new, but I think they will get better as time goes on. Everyone else hit the nail on the head with their reviews, so I won't beat a dead horse. I highly recommend the cucumber lemonade drink (no free refills). Met the owners, Ms. Arby, Mr. Marvin and her sister Alliana. They are very nice! We'll be back!

    Tomatoes soup not Sinagang

My concern is not with the cost; rather, it pertains to my arrival in town. I had a desire for some soup. After a 45-minute wait, it arrived devoid of utensils or rice. Why not simply incorporate the cost of standard rice into the $23.99 soup? Who as a owner should want their customer to add in the food order utensils to rice. Or one napkin. It's just common sense that not all people lives in San Antonio and are using Uber eat to order food. We are charge so much in Uber eats that just one fork could be a nice jester or rice. Who eats Sinagang without rice ? The soup possesses an unpleasant flavor and is excessively greasy and lots of fat. It look disgusting. I disposed of it.The lumpia exhibits an excessive greasiness, suggesting a possible reuse of oil for frying. What is the rationale behind this? I'm glad I didn't order the double lumpia. Very salty. I'm still hungry and I can't eat this awful soup. Just wasted my time and money The only thing that was so so was a bottle of water not made by this cook

    Such a cute interior!

The food was super yummy- and made fresh! You can tell there is a lot of heart and passion in the restaurant. The service was wonderful as well, they made sure we knew what the dishes were and kept us updated on the readiness of the dishes. We will for sure be coming back!

Nothing vibrant. Veggies have been stewing in the pot for a minute.

Man, so this review is complex because the food has potential but they lack the consistency. First time I ordered, food was amazing, I ordered what I call the trinity. Lechon kawali, Shanghai lumpia, and pinakbet and something else that I forgot. Ordered Amazing, colors were fresh, pork was well done and crunchy and lumpia was lit! Spent good money this day. Second time, we came on Sunday, late-afternoon early evening, we didn't know they offered buffet services. So instead of ordering off the menu, we made a hasty decision to try the buffet. What a let down. I kept telling myself, "ahh, just try, we'll never know". I should have ordered off the menu because a lot of dishes were dried out, left empty, the sinigang pork had only soup, and the fruits offered had been out for a while. I get it, it was a slow day..too slow there were only three couples including us. Third time, should be a charm? Not quite. My dad wanted pinakbet and my mom been wanting lechon. Her style of lechon is how they do it here, cooked all the down almost like cracklings. But not today, I ordered 12pcs. of lumpia, all soggy like it has been nuked in the microwave, it's in my air fryer as we speak to crispy it up. The lechon kawali must have been from the buffet because it's been refired, meaning, dumped in oil to crispy it up but all it did was worsen the flavor and everything was still jiggling and not even crunchy. It's in the air fry next to the lumpia as well. The pinakbet had been sitting for a minute. Old color and veggies weren't vibrant like they should be when it's cooked fresh. Overall, I met the owners and they seem pretty nice but short cuts aren't the way to go. Consistency is key and I've worked in the food business to know sous chefs for getting canned for taking short cuts and I also know that one thing customers love, is consistency. Knowing they personally have a "go-to" or "my plug" is a place they know won't let them down. I know they can do better and hopefully if I come back, if ever, the quality is elevated. For now, it's back to chockdee for Filipino favorites. Sigh.

    Lumpia very very salty
    Hazel S.

Honestly disappointed in their lumpia, extremely salty and over all flavor is lacking. The texture on the inside is also mushy and gritty. I don't normally write reviews but I was very excited to try them and I even bought 12 and they are so salty that it doesn't feel edible to me even with the sauce

Sisig, Lumpia, & Garlic Fried Rice

Authentic Filipino food! I've had sisig from various places, and their's is by far my favorite. The lunch buffet is also amazing. It's like going to a Filipino party and the aunties brought all the good stuff.

As a filipino, I love sweet longanisa but I prefer the sausage wrapped ones because I like a bit of char on it. I didn't love their pancit, but loved their garlic rice. We also tried their kwek kwek (fried quail eggs) and it was tasty and love that it came with suka (vinegar sauce). I asked for a sweet chili sauce as well. There's a few streetfood items here that's hard to get elsewhere in San Antonio, like bulaklak. I was tempted to try even though it's pretty unhealthy. They're crispy, fried pork tissue fat and usually have a nice chewy texture. My favorite thing that we ordered was the pork sisig. It came out on a sizzling plate. I just wish it had more mayo and garnishes on it. Mostly just pork flavor. Our waiter was nice and the freshly made juice was amazing. We got a huge glass of fresh watermelon juice and calamansi lemonade. The restaurant itself seems like a venue for parties too, since they have a small karaoke stage. They also connect to a small grocery store with several Filipino staples. I was able to pick up Datu Puti vinegar and some Boy Bawang cornick! I'd come back if I was closer in the area or if i'm really craving a Filipino dish that I can't already make at home.

AMBIANCE Parking: Two plazas one to the store and one to the restaurant. So you shouldn't have any issues. Seating: Plenty! Room for maybe 70-100. Great for individuals, pairs, large groups, such as party reservations. Vibes: My pulse of San Antonio was pretty charming (especially the Downtown area). This area is moreover the grit and grind/not so touristy area but an important contributor to the San Antonio economy none the less. The restaurant/bakery/store itself is awesome! I dig the mural of Filipino-descent player - Dylan Harper, there's even a cool playground outside for kids. It was cool receiving a warm kamayan welcome from the servers as you enter. I like the Filipino tropical energy the restaurant gives out from the plant decor, art, and their homage to their roots from their ancestor shelf. The pop lofi music in the background was comforting to chill and enjoy the food. Great for a solo food adventure, catch up meal with a friend, or special occassion party. FOOD / DRINKS Sari-Sari Special (Recommend) For all indecisive people, this is the way, this is the choice. I ordered the three main plate specifically choosing the (Diniguan, Chicken adobo, and Fried Pork Belly). The staples of the lumpia and noodles were a delight. Lumpia had a nice umami crunch and the noodles were comforting. Chicken Adobo - is my usual baseline to measure foods and this provided a nice comfort feel with a balance of savory soy-vinegar with a lot of sauce to add on to your rice. Dinuguan - if you don't know, now you know. This pork stew was another comfort delight. As the gravy mixed well with the vinegar and spices. A good stew texture with that signature rich savory and tangy flavors. Pork Belly Kawali - For something signature, this is it. As recommended by Owner Adrian - usually you need special sauce to complement this dish but it stands very well alone - a rich savory balance of crispy edges, tender pork meat, and natural buttery fat with every slice. Ube Horchata (Recommend) This was a fun fusion drink. A homage to the Mexican influences and Filipino influences. Creamy, cinnamon-forward horchata mixed with ube sweetness. CUSTOMER SERVICE Rome was great! Friendly and knowledgable on the menu. I enjoyed our conversation. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Great food, reasonable prices, and a pleasant vibe. I enjoyed my experience here overall. I'm usually critical on Filipino restaurants as they can't top my family's cooking but I feel like this complements their cooking. I'd actually take them over here for the food and the community comfort. For those in San Antonio, this place is definitely worth stopping by. Salamat and ingat to Adrian, Camille, and the rest of the Sari-Sari family. #FilipinoFoodMovement #RepresentAZN TIPS: * A great intro for first timers to Filipino food. Filipino pop music covers play in the background, and the decor adds to the feel of being back in the islands. The Filipino service and cook staff also are good signs. When we arrived at 12:15, the place was empty. It was really strange... was there no 'lunch rush'? Anyhow, there was a guy behind the counter but offered no assistance. We didn't know if we sit ourselves or wait to be seated; so we asked. He looked confused. My son went to the counter (where they sell pleather wallets, Funko Pop dolls, olive oil, and purses). Yes, you read that right. The guy offered one menu for the three of us, saying they only had the one. It looked like someone took a bite out of it (part of it was missing). Since we were planning to eat there, we sat ourselves and decided to make the best of it. A lady came to the table (we thought she might be the owner). She mentioned she can only offer four items on the entire menu - she then rattled off what they were - but it was so fast, I don't remember what she said. There was no buffet, and nothing else. I'd never had Filipino food before, so I had questions. We never got to my questions. She asked my son what he'd like. Since he didn't get to look at the one menu yet, he said that he'd like to get lumpia for the office and chicken adobo. She asked how many lumpia and he said about twenty. She then told him they were $1 each and walked away. That was it. We weren't allowed to finish ordering. He didn't even get a drink order in before she walked away. We sat there giggling about how strange this encounter was. We assumed she would have been back to get the rest of our orders. She did not return. Fifteen minutes later, she comes out and says everything is ready to go. We all look at each other wondering what happened. In unison, we got up and went to the cashier. I mentioned to her that we were all hoping to order and try their food; but she didn't give us the chance. She looked shocked and offered to finish taking our orders, but we had to explain that our time was wasted and we now had to get drive thru food and hurry back to work. The 'lumpia' was way over cooked - gave the impression of egg rolls (which is what I've been calling them); and his chicken adobo was gross - gray colored chicken. We fully expected my son to get sick. He hasn't yet - which is good. This is an excellent way to guarantee we will absolutely NOT be back.
