Small restaurant with limited seating. There's just nothing hawaiian about this place other than the lei decorating the condiment table. Definitely a Chinese influence, nonetheless the food was really good. Had the number 10, very tender beef barbecue over shredded cabbage with white rice and macaroni. Very good food, and you get a small mountain of it for a good bit less than a reasonable price. They load you up. I haven't tried everything, but favorites are the BBQ beef/chicken/et al. fried rices and noodles. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could, but given the constraints here it's minus one star for the inefficiency of their operation. They work their tail-ends off but can't keep up. Most of the time it takes 30 minutes to get your order, so it's smart to call ahead. Calling is hit-and-miss, most times it's easy to order and at other times it's not. And call or not you will have to wait in what is sometimes a very long line. In their favor I have yet to have them screw up an order. Don't plan on eating your food there, the dining room is tiny and always occupied and they serve everything in takeout containers. Overall it's well worth going, particularly if you are very hungry. ok so my husbands cousin came back from visiting family in lubbock and said omg theres this place thats waay better than L&L in lubbock called aloha bbq. we were like noo ways in lubbock?!?! so when my husband moved out to midland and visited his dad for the weekend in lubbock we decided we needed to check this place out. and boy we were not disappointed! shootz betta than L&L! Gary is a wonderful chef. he has so much heart in making the food as close as local kine grindz as he can get it. and he definitely makes some bad ass chicken katsu and kalua pig! my husband and i were very happy to get our fix of ono local kine grindz and we will be back fo mo when we go back to lubbock. gary was telling us that he is planning to make a new location where tech is at. we wish him the best and anyone going to tech u have to go check it out! read more

soo i got the short ribs and rice, macaroni salad and the ribs were very very chewy like it feels like i'm chewing 4 gums at once it wasn't cooked right and it wasn't coming off the bone it was a mess the lady looked very impatient telling us what is what in the menu but i came back and tried something else which was a little better so i really really recommend not getting the short ribs it's a waste of money. read more

I have eaten here a couple of times. I am a BBQ fan, but this place isn't your typical bbq. The first time I went I went with the sampler platter. The chicken had some fatty ends in it but the flavor was great. The beef was good and the spare ribs were tough but tasted really good. The next time I went I had their chicken fried rice and that is by far my favorite thing to get there. I have also tried the Kahlua(spelling?) pork which was very good. The only problem to the pork was the amount of cabbage they add into that. I heard you can request it without cabbage for 1 or 2 dollars more. Overall I have liked it very much. read more

each entree gives you so much food for a pretty cheap price. i couldn't finish my kahlua pork in one sitting, and it fed me for two additional meals! the meat is very tender and delicious. the only downside was that the wait was about 20-30 min during a not-so-busy time of the day, but i think that's compensated with the quality of the food. read more
