Huli Huli chicken, Chili-garlic wing and drumstick, coconut rice (under the chicken), wasabi potato mac salad, and cornbread.
    Neal L.

So glad get back to Maui, and to find this off-the-road piece of heaven! The Huli Huli chicken is everything I remember from our last visit--lightly smoky, and so, so juicy. It was as I've described it to so many in the past 1 1/2 years: transcendent. So ono! Although I enjoyed the tender moist brisket previously, I went with the co-owner's recommendation for my 2nd meat--the bbq wings and drumsticks with chili-garlic sauce. I got a nice jolt from the spices without blunting the tender meat flavor. Love the wasabi potato Mac salad, the coconut rice and the fresh corn bread with guava butter that come with the combination plate. This roadside food truck is only 20 minutes east from the airport, in Haiku on the road to Hana. NOTE: they are open 11-4, Wednesday through Saturday. This is a great place to tank up for the long drive to Hana.

Outstanding food, fantastic recipes served in a rustic atmosphere after a day in Hana. The commercial smoker churns out a substantial chicken, kalua pork and smokey chicky...really a great meal. The BBQ platter at the top of the menu will fill up even the big-hungry man. The counter gal is engaging and will discuss how they smoke/it's a 2-person operation. The side dishes are all locally sourced and prepared on site, absolutely delicious. Get here, get to Hana, and enjoy the best BBQ on Maui bar none! They have picnic bench seating in semi-private stalls for those concerned about weather or Covid.

Based on all the 5 star reviews, I had high expectations of this place. I'm sorry to report that this was a major let down. First, this food truck was difficult to find! The address on Yelp didn't match their actual location, so I had to ask someone if they knew where they were located. They're actually on the side of the road off of Hana Hwy in Maui, with 4-5 other food trucks that are congregated in one area. I had seen photos of their Aloha Ain'a BBQ plate that was presented in a long oblong-shaped dish. That is not what I received. Mine came in a styrofoam plate lunch box. They have benches where you can sit and eat, but beware - flies will come out of nowhere, attacking you and your food! I ordered the Aloha Ain'a BBQ plate with two meats for $17, which is a bit pricey for what I got. I chose the Kiawe Pork Belly and the Housemade Venison Sausage. The pork belly is not your traditional kind. This one is sliced thin and looked more like ham as opposed to crispy thick pork belly pieces. The sausage had a weird texture, however it did have some flavor. I only got 4 pieces though. The plate came with cilantro-coconut sticky rice, pohole fern salad, and griddled corn bread with guava butter. The corn bread was probably the best part of the meal. Unfortunately I wouldn't return or recommend this place. There are far better food trucks on the island.

Aloha Aina BBQ is located off of Hana Highway just after Maliko Gulch. I've passed by this random food trailer a handful of times and curiosity finally got me a few months ago. It's in a bit of a random spot at the Maliko Farms Market, but there's a parking lot and a really nice eating area with a handful of picnic tables. Another food trailer and a coffee/kombucha spot have since joined the market as well. I have been here a few times now and I must say, each time, I've found something new to enjoy! The first time, I ordered the three meat plate as my other half and I wanted to try a little bit of everything. They were out of the kiawe pork belly that day, so we opted for the huli huli chicken, 12 hour beef brisket, and kalua pork (carolina style). The kalua pork was the winner for me as it had so much flavor and just the right tang. It's definitely become my favorite item on their menu! The beef brisket and the chicken didn't have as much flavor, but were very moist and tender. Dipped them in a bit of the sauce from the kalua pork and recommend you do the same. Yum! The plate also came with griddled corn bread and Hana pohole fern salad. This was possibly my first time tasting pohole fern, ever? Slowly adding more greens to my diet and I liked their take on it. It's a winner! I've also tried the grass-fed Maui Beef burger which comes with sauteed Maui onion, mushrooms, crispy smoked pork belly, cheddar cheese, and tangy house-made steak sauce. They were once again out of what we originally planned to order, but this was an incredible substitute! The burger was packed with flavor and has to be one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. So so delicious! It also came with the tater tots and oh my these tots were BOMB! How they've managed to elevate the humble tator tot is beyond me. It's crispy, flavorful, and had a bit of a kick to it. Definitely ordering the burger again. The plates are a bit pricey, but given the size of the servings, you get your money's worth. Each time we've visited which was usually late in the afternoon, they were out of certain items that we wanted for one reason or another, but I think we've tried enough of the menu to have alternatives. Overall, I highly recommend a stop here, especially if you're in the mood for some BBQ and one of the best burgers around!

The trip to Hana is a long one, and Aisha Aina BBQ is an excellent stop along the way. We ordered the Maui grass-fed burgers and Carolina Creeper BBQ sandwiches. Both were some of our favorite meals on our trip. He said he had just had his busiest day ever. Utterly believable as it was a wonderful experience. We ate here twice on our family trip and would eat here again on future trips.

Chicken teriyaki, Huli Huli chicken, corn bread, fern salad

We went here for a late lunch around 2p and they were all sold out of hamburgers. I went with the two meat plate and got a special of the day-ginger teriyaki chicken and huli huli chicken. For sides you get a piece of corn bread and choice of fern salad or slaw. The teriyaki chicken was amazing. If they have this on the menu I highly recommend it. The glaze is caramelized on the chicken pieces (bone in) and is super flavorful and juicy. It was my favorite out of the meat choices. I'm not a huge fan of white meat and the huli Huli chicken was big pieces of breast meat. The spices didn't really penetrate through the meat although it was very juicy and tender. The corn bread was very fluffy and tasty. The fern salad was interesting. I was hoping to see the heads of the ferns but I got stalk pieces that were like crunchy asparagus. The salad also had tomato and cucumber in a fresh vinaigrette. Overall a really solid lunch place. I recommend going early so they have your choices available.

How do you spell delicious with 9 letters? Hint: it doesn't start with a D. It starts with a 3-meat bbq platter at Aloha 'Aina. Savor each letter of that name cause you're gonna forget how to spell after the first bite. Most generous portions I've seen for the price, and it's absolutely delicious (brisket is a bit inconsistent). I recommend the kalua pork. Who would've thought Maui would have amazing bbq? Huli huli chicken, pork belly, banana bread with guava butter

Aloha Alina BBQ is local Hawaiian bbq on the road to Hana! I ordered the BBQ plate and got the huli huli chicken, Kiawe pork belly, and the banana bread with guava butter. The food was absolutely fantastic! You got plenty of food and get to enjoy some Hawaiian delicacies. If you are on the road to Hana definitely check this spot out. They offer plenty of seating to enjoy your meal.

Food looked and tasted great! We used our own compostable banana plates :)

Chef Chewy and Aloha 'Āina BBQ catered our wedding celebration, and it was AMAZING! Our guests loved the food, and so did we. We did a buffet of the Aloha Party Package (plus pohole fern salad), and the Hawai'i-style paniolo BBQ was the perfect casual-meets-chic vibe for our Upcountry wedding. Working with Chef Chewy made the whole catering process easy (once we found him!) and it was great food that worked with our budget. We highly recommend Aloha Aina BBQ for catering, whatever the event or occasion might be! We're still craving his BBQ and now can't wait to grab lunch at the food truck in Haiku!!!

So glad we happened to stop here. The bbq was phenomenal. I think the brisket was our favorite, but the chicken and pulled pork were also delicious. Definitely want to eat here again!

Are there any gluten free options?

Yes, I am gluten intolerant and enjoyed the sausages and fern salad. Some of the other meats were gluten free but the huli huli chicken was not. They were very helpful in letting me know which dishes were GF, so be sure and ask.

Is msg used in the food? I have a severe allergy and have to ask.

Please contact Chef Chewy directly to get an answer. I do not think so because I have a sensitivity but please ask him. We had two people in our group with severe allergies (one to shellfish and one to pistachios) and he answered my questions and… Read more

We hit up Paia right before our flight back to LAX. It's not very far from the airport and I was bummed we hadn't been told to explore this area in addition to lounging out in Lahaina. There was a line formed even before the restaurant opened but things flowed pretty quickly. While waiting to order I'd pretty much convinced myself that I was going to be disappointed because the menu felt a bit basic. But boy was I wrong. The fish burgers are just absolutely exceptional. I got the snapper and my wife got the ahi. Both pieces of fish were cooked to perfection and were well sized. The bun was top notch and the coleslaw - a dish of which I am generally not a fan - was simply exceptional. At first I thought was a bit weird that they included cheese on the sandwich but that actually worked too! Go here for a no frills, reasonably priced, delicious AF meal if your travels take you into the area. Can't wait to go back on our next trip to Maui!
