We've used this company a few times over the years. It's great they come over to your property and give free consultation with overview for estimate. They take the time to listen to your concerns, especially when you cannot allow a big heavy bucket truck parked on your leaching field because of having a septic tank. They use alternative methods to access those areas. (We also put up orange cones to mark these areas as a reminder.) read more

Had Almstead remove 2 very large trees, trim one very large pine and remove 4 smaller trees on 2 occasions. Their crew came on time on both appointments. I had questions regarding the process and how it was going to be executed. I was dealing with Maria and Jack. Jack was onsite and extremely knowledgeable and answer all my questions. I wanted them to remove more of the pine. I got in touch with their Office Manager Maria A. who was a breath of fresh air to deal with. Customer service is take very serious and I had no doubt that Maria took care of me with all my questions regarding the process as well. I would recommend them to anyone that is looking for Tree service in the Fairfield County area. One very happy customer. David R read more

We have been very satisfied with Almstead for many years. Each employee takes ownership of their job and I feel that my property is looked after well for a reasonable price. I want to especially mention arborist/technician Mark Christofero as a dedicated employee who personally makes sure the job gets done right. read more

Chris came out to our property to provide an estimate on spring cleanup. I mentioned that certain parts of our lawn were not draining water properly and he recommended some additional trimming would help. I was skeptical but went ahead with the recommendations. I could not be happier - the drainage issues are a thing of the past! Chris was very professional throughout, prompt and courteous. We had Almstead plant some evergreens two years prior and they did a great job and the trees are thriving. Great job all around! read more

We used Almstead for the first time to replace some evergreens on our property and to prune some of trees. We were extremely impressed with Jeff Thrasher's knowledge and responsiveness and the outstanding hard work done by the tree crew, Hector, Johnson, and Eddy. They all take great pride in their work--we would highly recommend them and Almstead. Nancy V. read more

I really liked this business. Office personnel was very friendly. Arborist was knowledgable. The treatments recommended were on point with other arborists I consulted with. Workers who came out to do the work for friendly as well. All were very attentive and all my questions and needs were addressed. read more

So DISHONEST I raved for this company when they did great work. NOW I shall RANT I prepaid for lawn treatments and they did not show after one treatment and worse, they insisted that they came when they did not. We have a gated property with video surveillance that shows no one came the day they claim. They even made up a ridiculous story about my husband and I walking out together and giving them our gate code (to explain why there is no phone record of a gate entrycall.) Ladies, do your husbands spontaneously leave work to take a walk with you and chat with lawn treatment companies spraying chemicals on the grass? Seriously...mine wouldn't know ROUND Up FROM Rabbit Pie, and is too busy working to pay for lawn chemicals, to walk out and verbally give a stranger our security gate code. I was out of town the day they pretend they came so that means some unknown man and woman came out and let them in, but the security cameras missed it!!! VAMPIRES??? read more

Seem to be nice people and was ready to hire them on the spot but after now four weeks or so they never followed up with the promised quote for what would have been removal of some fairly sizable trees from my property. I followed up with a phone call after two weeks but my sales person was on vacation, so I decided to hire someone else. You like to support these old line local companies but it's not 1965 anymore and their casual style of doing business just can't compete with newer competitors run by more responsive owners from immigrant backgrounds. read more

We are new to the area. I used these folks for a spraying for webworms once this summer and decided to use them again regularly and plant some trees with them, as well as cut a dead tree down. I need a tree tied back from the house, too, so I will be giving them some business. My interactions with them have been very pleasant. They have been reasonably priced. And, rare in this day and age, they seem to be very responsible and professional. Marie, the secretary, is very sweet and accommodating. read more

I have used Almstead several times over the years. They recently did some minor pruning for me which was fine. The other day I noticed a large dead limb on a verge large tulip tree. I called them to look at it and to estimate how much it would cost to remove. I had a confirmed appointment with them for Friday June 28th between 1 and 3.... waited at the house until 4:00pm, never showed up or called to let me know the couldn't make it.... They just lost me as a customer. read more

Today I was walking my Bernese mountain dog on weed street in New Canaan (mind you this is an extremely busy street) the ring the leash was clipped to broke as I was crossing the street and he ran into a yard where I believe 4 or 5 men were working, after chasing him around for a few minutes we were able to corner him and one of the workers grabbed him. I am beyond grateful, I never got any of their names but because of them my dog is safe today! I couldn't have imagined what would've happened without the help of these guys! The next time I need any tree, shrub or lawn care I will be calling this company, a kind act I believe goes a long way and I am forever grateful read more

I got 3 quotes for some tree work on our property. Almstead had the best quote and also were the most professional and knowledgeable. The work was done quickly and to my full satisfaction. I was most impressed with the Arborist Isaac. He was easy to get a hold of, incredibly knowledgeable and went out of his way to do extra research for me. I will definitely use Almstead again. read more

I made an appointment last week . . . "Arborist " was supposed to be here at noon. I waited and waited and waited. Finally around 12:40, I ducked into my bathroom for 3 minutes (to dry my hair) and apparently, that was when he showed up AND LEFT. So I waited 40 minutes, no one called to say he was running late, then he left after 3 minutes. When I spoke to the office, they didn't seem to concerned about the less than professional behavior and said he'd gotten enough info to put together a proposal . . . This ought to be interesting. My initial impression is that the arborist was rude and unprofessional so I'm not inclined to hire these people. Try showing up on time or calling for an appointment I had to wait 5 days for read more

Requested estimate. Told arborist would stop by and inspect trees for safety. Two weeks later a tree branch fell and damaged cars. Contacted Almstead to report damage and inquire about estimate. Calls were not returned. read more

We hired Almstead Tree to cut a few branches off of a large tree in our backyard, and prune some large shrubs on our property. Despite some earlier challenges with regard to scheduling, Isaac and his crew were professional and courteous. Once the appointment was scheduled, the crew arrived on time. They were patient with their job, and really took the time to make sure the job was done right (vs. just fast). Communication with the crew was easy, and they checked to make sure how much they pruned and where they pruned were exactly what we wanted. Will definitely hire Almstead Tree again. read more

Prior to the devastating storms a few weeks ago in CT we had Isaac make recommendations for our arbor care needs. His attentive encouragement, explanations and review of standards for our tree maintenance translated to his concern for our safety. We agreed to do a big job and take down the diseased Tulip Tree. We now take the time to thank and recommend Isaac and Almstead. We know these trees would not have made it through the storm. We are grateful to Isaac and his team for keeping us Safe!! ......JWiener read more

We have been very happy with our arborist Isaac at Almstead. He is extremely thorough and responsive. We are on the all-organic plan and have had to make some changes to the way we manage our extensive landscaping to help improve the health of the trees and ornamentals. Isaac has been instrumental in providing the proper recommendations. His team has been prompt and professional. In addition, Isaac personally comes by to inspect the work at the end of each work day and to address any questions and concerns. read more
