Had Almstead remove 2 very large trees, trim one very large pine and remove 4 smaller trees on 2 occasions. Their crew came on time on both appointments. I had questions regarding the process and how it was going to be executed. I was dealing with Maria and Jack. Jack was onsite and extremely knowledgeable and answer all my questions. I wanted them to remove more of the pine. I got in touch with their Office Manager Maria A. who was a breath of fresh air to deal with. Customer service is take very serious and I had no doubt that Maria took care of me with all my questions regarding the process as well. Chris came out to our property to provide an estimate on spring cleanup. I mentioned that certain parts of our lawn were not draining water properly and he recommended some additional trimming would help. I was skeptical but went ahead with the recommendations. So DISHONEST I raved for this company when they did great work. NOW I shall RANT I prepaid for lawn treatments and they did not show after one treatment and worse, they insisted that they came when they did not. We have a gated property with video surveillance that shows no one came the day they claim. They even made up a ridiculous story about my husband and I walking out together and giving them our gate code (to explain why there is no phone record of a gate entrycall.) Ladies, do your husbands spontaneously leave work to take a walk with you and chat with lawn treatment companies spraying chemicals on the grass? Seriously...mine wouldn't know ROUND Up FROM Rabbit Pie, and is too busy working to pay for lawn chemicals, to walk out and verbally give a stranger our security gate code. Seem to be nice people and was ready to hire them on the spot but after now four weeks or so they never followed up with the promised quote for what would have been removal of some fairly sizable trees from my property. I followed up with a phone call after two weeks but my sales person was on vacation, so I decided to hire someone else. Just moved to the area and bought a house 3 months ago. Saw the company 'Almstead Tree And Shrub Care' doing tree services at our neighbor's house and decided to contact them after we reviewed their website. They were fast to get back to us and easy to schedule with them to come out to our house for an over all inspection of our trees around our house/property. The pricing was reasonable so we scheduled them to come out to trim our trees and remove a few Hollys beside our house. Their crew was on time, friendly and did a fantastic job. Even did an excellent job with all the clean up. We recommend them and will have them back again for future services. ******************** Just last month (Sept 2017) we put a call into Gary at Almstead requesting an old tree stump removal. Gary got back to us on a price and got us scheduled to get it removed. His guys showed up on time, friendly and spoke to us about how they would remove it. We originally agreed to have a machine dig it out but the guys were worried that the machine's tracks would scratch our stone walkway to access the area of the tree stump. After careful consideration, we decided it would be best taken out the old fashion way by Axe in hand. They had it dug out/removed in just a matter of minutes. I have used Almstead several times over the years. They recently did some minor pruning for me which was fine. The other day I noticed a large dead limb on a verge large tulip tree. I called them to look at it and to estimate how much it would cost to remove. I had a confirmed appointment with them for Friday June 28th between 1 and 3.... waited at the house until 4:00pm, never showed up or called to let me know the couldn't make it.... Today I was walking my Bernese mountain dog on weed street in New Canaan (mind you this is an extremely busy street) the ring the leash was clipped to broke as I was crossing the street and he ran into a yard where I believe 4 or 5 men were working, after chasing him around for a few minutes we were able to corner him and one of the workers grabbed him. I am beyond grateful, I never got any of their names but because of them my dog is safe today! I couldn't have imagined what would've happened without the help of these guys! I made an appointment last week . . . "Arborist " was supposed to be here at noon. I waited and waited and waited. Finally around 12:40, I ducked into my bathroom for 3 minutes (to dry my hair) and apparently, that was when he showed up AND LEFT. So I waited 40 minutes, no one called to say he was running late, then he left after 3 minutes. When I spoke to the office, they didn't seem to concerned about the less than professional behavior and said he'd gotten enough info to put together a proposal . . . This ought to be interesting. We hired Almstead Tree to cut a few branches off of a large tree in our backyard, and prune some large shrubs on our property. Despite some earlier challenges with regard to scheduling, Isaac and his crew were professional and courteous. Once the appointment was scheduled, the crew arrived on time. They were patient with their job, and really took the time to make sure the job was done right (vs. just fast).
