This is the first year that my husband and I have purchased a real Christmas tree, and I was a little nervous about where best to get one that would live through the holidays. I always had real Christmas trees growing up, but I had never bought one as an adult. Nevertheless, Almost Heavenly Trees & Greenery made the process way easier than I could have expected, and for the first time, like ever in my life, we left the tree lot with the first tree we looked at. This is a fantastic 'mom and pop' tree farm operation and the young man, forgive me that I have forgotten his name, was super fantastic! He spent 20 minutes with us making sure we had the exact tree we wanted, and even helped up strap it to the roof of our car for the trip home. I feel really bad that I've forgotten his name because he was so personable. Not once did I feel like he was rushing us even though the lot was busy. And the trees are spectacular. It didn't look like much when we arrived because it is just trees in a lot, but they are quite fresh. The trees (douglas firs) from the family farm in WV were cut about a week before being sold. We ended up with a frasier fir (personal favorite) which came from a farm in NC but we were told they were about as fresh but they just couldn't confirm the day they had actually been cut. The prices were very reasonable, especially for being a local business and not a 'big box' store. We were just so impressed and are so very happy with our lovely tree that we are definitely life-long customers as long as we are within reasonable driving distance! I cannot say enough great things about almost heavenly Christmas trees, we have been getting our trees from them for five years now and they are the most beautiful, full, and long last trees we have gotten. They last all of December, always get it the day after thanksgiving and keep it up until New Year's Day. This year our tree fell over after being up for two weeks. It didn't feel secure and I called to get some advice and spoke with Matt who explained it was likely our tree stand (which it was) and offered to have someone come to our home to install our tree in a new tree stand the following day. As promised, Sam came with the new tree stand and put our tree in it the following day. They went above and beyond and followed through on everything they said they would. We will continue to get our trees from almost heavenly for as long as we live in this area and I have already told many people about this company so you should be expecting some new customers! Almost Heavenly Trees is located in the parking lot of Southern Towers, just off Seminary and Beauregard Street. I did my research online about good quality, local places to buy trees since this is my first year putting up a real Christmas tree. When we met the owner and his son and realized they were both prior Navy service members, it seems even more perfect that we got our tree from this great family. The selection of trees is wonderful and we ended up with a tree I hadn't even heard of, a concolor fir. The tree is gorgeous and bushy and $40 for a 7+ foot tall tree seems reasonable. They also have a good selection of decorations for your door and we selected an evergreen bundle with a large bow and glitter decoration for only $10. I highly recommend this business and will come back here next year for another lovely tree. read more

I laughed so hard the first time I passed this place. I saw it from the road: a trailer, a tent with a folding table underneath, and some trees laying on the ground, all in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The website looked so enticing, but when I saw the real deal it was laughable. I almost turned around because it looked so disappointing, but I'm so glad I didn't! I came around 7:30 PM, so towards the tail end of their operating hours. There was no one else there except for me, my boyfriend, and four workers (one of whom I later found out was the owner). Just like on their website, they had a chart of prices according to height and type of tree. I had come for a pine tree (aka the cheapest), but they didn't have any, so I got a Douglas Fir. (I know nothing about trees, just as a disclaimer.) I told the person they had democratically voted to assist us (seriously, I heard a "this is a democracy") the height of the tree we were looking for and he found one right away. They had a pretty good selection, and I was happy with the first tree that was picked for us, so that was fairly simple. The guy gave the tree a good shake and spin to show it off to us before we accepted it. He trimmed some of the lower branches for us and sawed off the bottom. We also bought a tree stand, so they set it up on that for us also. While they were doing that, we had a chat with the owner. He asked us how we had found the place, etc. We found out that he was retired Navy and was now selling Christmas trees. He was super nice! After our tree was all set up, he thanked us for buying from him ("My wife will be especially happy.") and they tied it to the top of the car for us, twine included at no extra cost. My tree made it home safe and sound and looks great! Unfortunately, I won't be in Virginia next year, but if I was, I would definitely come back again! The customer service was great, the prices were fantastic, and there was a bunch of selection! I feel bad for almost writing this place off because of how it looked from the road. I've been coming here a for a few years but I'm not sure I'll be back. Usually the service is exceptional, but I felt like this time I was not treated the same as other customers. I came this year to get my tree and waited quite some time for someone to help me. There was a man who worked there who looked right at me and then pretended to be busy so I didn't bother him. As soon as a young non-minority couple approached the entrance, he went right over to greet them and I had to ask another man who ended up helping me why they were being greeted first while I had been there waiting. This is the second year I have bought a Christmas tree from this location, both times getting a 6ft Frasier Fir the weekend after Thanksgiving. Last year: 5/5 stars - it was easy to purchase and the tree lasted well into the middle of January. This year: 2/5 stars - the tree has been dying and shedding before Christmas! The branches are brittle and falling apart and many of the ornaments have started to droop and/or fall. It's in the same location as last year and I have done the same maintenance as last year (i.e. checking water every other day). What a shame because I loved our tree last year! read more

As close to a VT Christmas tree as you can get! The entire experience was fantastic. Pulled up, helped by a fine lad home for Thanksgiving from UVA, and found a great tree within minutes. The young man (I'm sorry I forgot his name) then swiftly tied it to our car and we were off. Off without the garland we bought in fact! But we called and they made it so easy, putting some aside for us to pick up the next day. I always get a live tree. The Vermont in me requires it. I absolutely LOVE this place. I heard about it from Yelp. The customer service is SO great. I got a beautiful douglas fir for a great price! The shape was perfect. They are so patient when it comes to finding the perfect tree. I purchased a sturdy $25 tree stand from them as well. They secured the stand on the tree for us. I recommend bringing a sheet or a large plastic bag if you plan to carry it home on top of your car. I forgot mine at home but they had bags for purchase ($3). They also help you tie it to your roof. Found Almost Heavenly through a Google search this weekend so we decided to check it out. Went on a Saturday afternoon and we were greeted and assisted immediately. We cannot say enough about how helpful and friendly all the employees were, not to mention the high quality of the Frasier Fur tree and wreath we purchased. The perfect Christmas tree experience. The trees were very fresh and taller than I expected. We were assisted by Tyler who picked out a nice one for us and cut the base and removed a few branches. He even brought it to our car and tied it onto the roof for us. Everyone was very friendly and our 8 foot Frasier Fir only cost $60, cheaper than Home Depot. Stumbled upon this place through a combination of Googling and Yelp surfing, and I am glad that I did. Got there on a Thursday night around 6:30p, and was immediately assisted by one of their employees. After learning what height and type of tree we were looking for, he helped us pick the best of the batch. We quickly checked out and he even offered to install the tree stand on the trunk for us. I was happy with the tree prices, though the additional items they sold (tree stand, lights, etc.) may have been slightly over priced, but it didn't bother me. We got a 4-5 foot tree and a stand for $45, plus the option to tip the employee who helped us, which we certainly did. I'm waiting for the branches to open up a bit, and so excited to trim the tree. read more

New to the area so I needed to do a bit of research to figure out where to get a tree. Some googling/yelp searching led me to this little gem. I was a little worried about the apartment complex parking lot setup but upon arrival, they did have a fair number of trees to choose from. We looked a little on our own but quickly enlisted the help of one the employees. We were in the market for a Douglas fir 6' or under. He showed us one tree that was a little bare on the bottom. The next one he showed us was perfect. We also opted for a tree stand. He cut off the bottom for us and attached the tree stand after showing us how it worked. We paid $55 and added on a $5 tip for our helper. He even tied it down in the trunk for us! Very pleased with our purchase and will likely return next year! read more

This year was two firsts for me, a live tree and the first Christmas with my boyfriend. While I was excited we spent it together, the live tree was a thrilling highlight, too. I highly recommend this place and that you ask for Sam. This guy is quality! Not only is he a fellow coconut juice fan, he's a professional in his own right. After I naively picked a tree, Sam probed me about my selection, realized we were novices, and guided us both through several more viable options. The tree we selected was taller than my apartment would accommodate and Sam graciously cut it down to size for me. He even let me keep the trimmings so I could go home an flex my Pinterest muscle #DIY. Bought a Frasier fir on December 19. Very nice tree, which we weren't sure we would find this close to Christmas. We paid $35 for a tree almost 6 feet. A similar Douglas fir would have been $5 more. This is the best price we've found locally in years. The guy who helped us was friendly and we liked the first tree he showed us. He sawed off the bottom and a few low branches and strapped it to our car roof. We tipped him and were out of there in about 15 minutes. We'll be back next year. read more

To start off, they weren't nice at all. I walked on to the lot and no one offered to help me. I watched as multiple families and couples walked in after me and they were helped immediately. It was already sad enough to be shopping for a Christmas tree by myself, and the workers here made it worse. Finally, I found a tree that I thought was nice. It was $45, which is very expensive for a tree that's around 5 feet tall. One day after I got it home, it started turning brown. Now, it has been not even a week and the tree is completely dead and not taking any water. So, in summary: 1) bad customer service 2) overpriced 3) ineffective product. Thanks. Merry Christmas. Stopped by last week after hearing about it through yelp. The gentleman from Morocco helped us find our tree and did a good job even though his english wasn't the best or knew the prices off the top of his head. (We had to go back and look at the prices on the board). No biggie. However the guy with the red hair and beard was a bit rude when my wife tried to use the coupon that was on the table before purchase. He gave her a hard time about it. I didn't hear the conversation as I was watching the other gentleman load our tree on top of our suv but my wife said she was put off by it. Look I'm all for supporting small businesses and especially my brothers in christ but this guy needs to learn better customer service. This is my second year getting my tree here, and both times I've had a great experience. As others have said, the staff is very friendly and patient and the prices are very reasonable. The Frasier fir we got today looks fantastic, and last year I found that our tree stayed fresh and green much longer than others I've had in the past. We also needed a new stand this year, and discovered that if you buy one there they'll set the tree in the stand for you before tying it to the car- it worked great! Definitely recommend. read more

These guys were A-class wonderful. After getting a absolutely beautiful douglas fir home I began to have significant problems with it not holding water, etc. Not only did these guys make a house call to give it a fresh cut and check it but when it still wasn't working they helped me exchange it for a new tree that is just great. It really speaks to great customer service and great holiday cheer that they did this for me. I am so happy that my daughter and I will get to enjoy this. Found this place through Yelp, and went this morning for our tree. At first glance it looks like just another parking lot pop-up tree place, but it ended up exceeding my expectations. Fantastic customer service--the man who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable. We found our perfect tree right away, and he helped us put it in the car. Extremely reasonable prices as well. A woman working there gave my toddler a little Christmas bear ornament, which he adored and proceeded to cuddle with the whole ride home. We went there after reading all the excellent reviews. It wasn't any different than what we experienced at other places of this kind. We could not find our "heavenly tree" and the "almost heavenly" one was priced at $60 so we felt sort of unsatisfied. We decided to check out the nearby Home Depot and there we met her!
