Hey Sally (previous reviewer) -- How can you say "that last review is bogus" when you were the first person to review this company? Seems pretty suspect to me. Note: I have very good credit, qualified for amazing rates, committed to do business with these guys, and made clear that I was not in big hurry. The story: I have been recently engaged with Almega Group for a mortgage refinance loan. After months of (almost) daily phone calls (98% of which went unanswered), I finally decided to do business with them to refinance my home loan. Blake was persistent and followed up constantly, making it easy for me to choose (and rates were looking very similar everywhere I looked.) Once we got into the process, the company seemed very disorganized and amateurish. My conversations with Blake were very obviously not relayed or regarded by the rest of the team. Their emails use huge red print intermittently in paragraphs to beat the customer over the head with deadlines of three days. It looked like it was written by a scammer in Nigeria, not a financial services company in the Dallas area. Note: I had made it very clear that I was unable to address next steps until approx. 1 week from when I agreed to proceed. The documents submitted were sloppily prepared, and required explanation. My concerns were met with hostility, and annoyed, passive-agressive spurts... only further increasing my discomfort and distrust. The company (on up to the president) communicate poorly. They made no effort to truly understand my concerns as a customer, but rather talked to me in a manner that suggested I should already understand the intricacies of their business. They don't seem to be on the same page internally (my credit report was unnecessarily run twice- the sales person admitted to doing so while the owner of the company denied it in separate emails sent to me within hours of each other) Ultimately, I received a few more short emails from the owner, Mike Raitt insistent that I tell them further why I was uncomfortable with doing business with them. He comes across like the angry kid on the playground that gets mad at other kids who won't play with him because he gets mad at other kids because.... :-) My last response to him after they made my phone ring 3 times in 7 minutes and sent a barrage of emails (because I told them I felt more comfortable doing business elsewhere) is copied here: ========= Mike, Please disengage. Which due to the legal disclaimer/warning/privacy statement at the bottom of the email, I can not share here. He's a solid business man with a tremendous mind for client relations for sure. This is our second time using Almega and it was alright. The first time (only buying) was relatively smooth sailing. The second time (buying and selling at the same time) just seemed to be a lot bumpier. Every time we felt like we had a good grasp of things, we'd get another call asking for more random stuff or giving some sort of bad news. We had incorrect information provided multiple times that caused frustration and had multiple scenarios of "we need this thing right this second" all the way up to the day of closing. I'd recommend them if you're just buying a home but you might look elsewhere if it's anything more complicated than that. read more

I have used the Almega Group to refinance on 4 separate occasions, and each time I have had a perfect experience. I am not local to Dallas, and I still choose to use them each time. They are professional and thorough, and clearly know what they are doing. I've read the previous 1 star review and note this is not the same Almega Group that I've been dealing with. I became acquainted with Mike Raitt at a Retirement Seminar he put on at Collin County College in Frisco. This seminar was two evenings, loaded with information that was Very Informative and useful! It cost $25-35 for the materials we received and instead of getting a sales pitch and a free steak dinner, offered very practical and useful information. As I've said, this is the company and the man that I've been looking for, for a long time. I was getting very frustrated with going to Investment firms that would offer a product but had no clue on what tax ramifications it would have; and going to a CPA who could not advise us which type of investment was best suited for our particular situation. Mike Raitt treated us with utmost respect and is a company that is licensed to offer a CPA, Investments, Mortgages, Re-Financing, Life Insurance as well as other services. In addition he not only offers Retirement Seminars but Seminars on funding College Educations for your kids.
