It has been decades since I walked into this cafe. I just do not get to Alma often anymore. So I stopped in on a Tuesday morning looking for a hearty breakfast and some coffee. Well.....I found some good coffee but the breakfast was nothing to come back for. Let me start with when I walked in. The place was just as I remembered, small town diner quaint and very clean. Only two other customers so the service was ok and friendly. I ordered coffee, it came out in a small mug....I hate small mugs, a good breakfast joint should have real coffee cups that fit a man's hands. Not one that I feel my pinky should point out of as I sip my drink. Oh well it was good coffee. Now to the food. I ordered the Colorado Omlette and sourdough toast. The omlette was basically a meat omlette with green pepper. It was thin with very little cheese and the meat was far from good. The first omlette that I ever added ketchup with hot sauce to get flavor...... The toast was thin and chewy. Price was not good for what was served. IMHO skip the Main Cafe and go to JJ Ruby's and get an excellent meal everytime! read more

Very nice place. Well maintained. Ample parking front and back. Stopped in for breakfast the week before. Everything was excellent. Eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, toast, and coffee were all really good. Service was also excellent. Stopped in for lunch today. Had to get the cheeseburger because I'm a burger hound. It was really good. I would put it in my top 10. Service was excellent again. If you're in Alma and looking for a place to eat breakfast or lunch this is a solid choice. read more

Not a bad lunch stop. Fairly fast. Clean and service is nice. Seems like a steady hitter. Always busy which is usually a sign of good food. Food is decent, good diner food. Over all you need to try it read more

Love the remodeled look. Definitely adds a cleaner feel to the restaurant. Our waitress was amazing! Super friendly, attentive, and fast. The Cheeseburger was a bit underwhelming. For $8 I would expect the burger and bun to be a bit bigger. This felt like a kids meal sized burger. It was delicious. I just wish it was a little bit bigger, maybe even just the bun. The Chicken Caesar Wrap was also small. The Chilli looked great but the taste was very bland. Almost nonexistent when it came to flavor. Sadly, had to use salt to be able to tolerate the chilli. Maybe I had a bad batch? The Fries were very good. Excellent! Overall, I will be returning to The Main Cafe. The service was outstanding, the food was great (minus the sizes and the chilli), and the environment was very welcoming. I look forward to trying some of the many other options available. read more

The Cafe is open again! It was sold and remodeled, and it's back! The original soda fountain is gone, and that's a shame, but it was worn and cramped. Now it's spacious and lovely! Prices are reasonable considering the food is great. Homemade fries, cherry coke made with grenadine and with a couple cherries in the glass, and lush burgers with the perfect balance of burger and fresh veg. Service was friendly and prompt. I would say this is about the best place for lunch in Alma! read more

Place has great sandwiches, soups are mediocre, been in here twice now and complained both times about the stale crackers. Friendly staff.

We tried Main Cafe today. The restaurant is very clean and in great repair! The Chili, the chicken sandwich (with delicious fresh-cut fries), and the ham and grilled cheese were all great! Not only can you count on a good meal at the Main Cafe, you can count on them as a good caterer. The Main Cafe catered my mother's memorial service luncheon recently, and did a fabulous job. I had "winter comfort food" in mind, but that didn't mean I wanted run-of-the-mill comfort food. Canyon made some great suggestions, and was very receptive to my input. When I told him I hoped the macaroni and cheese would be more complex than the basic version with cheddar and elbow macaroni, he assured me that his recipe had four different cheeses and he would be using cavatappi. I knew then that I was in good hands. Everything--the main courses, salads, bars, etc.--was excellent, and I heard many people say how good the food was. The two servers the Main brought were professional, efficient, attentive, and just lovely people. Our family couldn't have been more pleased. read more

Went for their Friday fish fry. The fish was over cooked and actually all batter for the last quarter of each piece and it was burnt. I opted for a salad instead of the fries and they charged me an up charge of one dollar. So for two pieces of fish and a side salad the dinner came to 11.99. Too pricey in my opinion. All they offer are sandwiches and wraps, no dinners at all on the menu. The other person with me ordered a Swiss mushroom burger and it was the size of a slider. Very disappointed. Will not be going back here. Too pricey and poor quality of the food. read more

Stopped in for late lunch in October. Apparently newly remodeled, under new management and clean as a whistle. Had burgers and their hand-cut fries. Delicious. Downtown seems to be reinventing itself, this seems to be the beginning of a new era for Alma's Main Street. Hope it continues. Love the small town feel. read more

Hard to give a 1 star review, but had to. Went to breakfast On Sat March 16, Food was great and most of the staff including owner were amazing. One waitress I particular is not suited for a customer service job, unfortunately her name was never given. She was helping our waitress out, brought food fine, part of order was delayed, when it was finally brought out she just slid it over the table, when we inquired about it she rudely said our kitchen is slow and walked away. She came back a couple times, got and attitude, and I explained she was being obnoxious. She then proceeded to go yell for the owner very loudly that he needed to come deal with us because she was apparently obnoxious. The owner came, explained some things, and that was fine. The waitress however went on being overly fake nice to everyone and literally would walk by and give our table dirty looks and make quiet snide comments, and tried to get sympathy from everyone because she can't do her customer service job correctly. Also noted no break at all was given on bill even after issue was addressed. It is truly sad because the place has great food every time I've been in, but I won't be back, and neither will others I have spoken to. read more
