They are THE easiest to work with, and make the whole headache of AV go off without a hitch. Our larger event required a lot of preplanning and preparations, which included organizing presentations from our 8 guest speakers we had. They were able to help be on site and facilitated everything for us, down to changing out presentations when needed. Our entire event committee even said that it was the most well run AV production that they've ever been a part of.... and if you've ever done events, you know how much of a compliment it is! Weddings are beautiful. Weddings are precious memories shared amongst the most important family and friends. But if not given its due respect and organization, it can turn a woman's "little girl dreams" sour. Multitasking becomes an art form. Regurgitated parking instructions, timelines, and to-dos to a dozen different individuals are now common place. And in the end, one hopes that all works well, the guests enjoyed themselves, and you get to enjoy the moment. But this doesn't happen overnight, nor does it happen alone. It's a concerted effort of many vendors, supportive family members, friends, and your other half to seal-the-deal and get things done right! Over the next few weeks, I will be laying out some of the industry's best (and worst) bridal vendors that I've experienced for myself: those who went above and beyond, had the best deals, laid out all the cards, and did a phenomenal job in the process. And the first on my list is Techniques Hawaii. Matt Muccio, the CEO and owner of this company, is the man behind the madness and had met me by pure whimsy. The week before the big day, I was celebrating my bachelorette party with a bunch of girls and happened to bump into him at Zippy's for some after-clubbing nom noms. After his congratulatory salutation, we found out that we actually knew a lot about each other, including where we live, the friends we knew, and even the wedding venue that we picked! Our ceremony and reception was held at the Pomaikai Ballrooms in Dole Cannery Iwilei who, ironically, works exclusively with Techniques Hawaii for their AV/sound equipment. Must mean they're legit! Although we had opted to use our family friends for all of our AV setups, Matt went out of his way to help us. He was extremely cordial, professional, and had a confidence about him. We hit it right off the bat and he generously offered to setup a complimentary 9'x12' screen for our Powerpoint slideshow as a "wedding gift"! How sweet! He gave me his business card to assure me that he was good for it, and before we knew it, we were parting ways with out beanless chili and portuguese sausage breakfasts! The rest of his staff are extremely proficient, and once I emailed them, it took less than 10 minutes to receive a reply. They confirmed the complimentary setup and even offered us a projector package at 50% off the original price if we needed the cords as well! We confirmed the dates and times, and were good to go. As a bride, let me tell you how comforting it is to have Plan B's and C's for everything. Techniques Hawaii not only gave us precious memories for me and our guests to cherish, but they exemplified quick follow-through, professionalism, and good old-fashioned "aloha" that we don't see too often nowadays, ESPECIALLY in this industry. Techniques HI absolutely saved my bacon!…read more I was responsible for coordinating a 100+ person luncheon for my organization. I thought everything was lined up until -literally- the morning of the event I realized I had overlooked a small but crucial detail. My laptop is only equipped with a micro HDMI jack. I didn't have a cable and I had to screen the presentation in 4 hours!! Let's start with the fact that they had staff on hand to answer the phone at 7:00am. That alone was a saving grace. Then, not only was I told it was no problem to provide a micro HDMI cable, they also offered to bring along a DVD player as a redundancy! [sigh of relief] The on site crew had everything set up before I arrived *and* they were kind enough to connect my laptop to their equipment so the we could op-test the audio/visual before they left. So very thankful for everything they did. Corporate handled the bill for this occasion, but I wouldn't hesitate for a second to pay for their services out of my own pocket for a private event! It was like being at the drive-in like in the old days. Installation has caused nothing but headaches.****…read more This company was contracted to install 65" TV's. Installation was sub-par. They decided to use extron controllers and extron wall plates (UTP-HDMI $1000 per set) instead of just HDMI cables. The connection was only 27". Needless to say extron controllers are all failing only 2 years later. The wall plates were toothless so the HDMI cables would constantly slip out and lose connection. Went to their shop they told me we could buy the newer version for even more. To add a cherry on top, they installed the TV's on standard wall mounts, instead of accordion brackets supposedly to save money on installation. Requiring you to unmount the 65" TV just to get to the connections. How about not use extron controllers next time. So I am gutting the failing systems replacing them with 2 x 30" HDMI cables and 2 port HDMI wall plates. Total cost per room $30. 1/10th of the price I was quoted on for replacing just half the broken extron controller system.
