We have used other cleaning services in the past, so we're aware of what to expect. The Magic Maids website claims, "We provide the most efficient, hard working maids in the area." Simply not so. For a 1500 square foot house, to clean the master bedroom only, 2-1/2 baths & downstairs living area and kitchen they charged approximately $100. Decent enough if the work was competent. I would "think" it would take a maximum of three hours for one person, less time with two workers. My husband (who works from home) called Magic Maids to service the house the same day, so I did not get to meet the employee. However, the cleaner (from my husband's recollection- a young college girl) spent NEARLY SIX HOURS TO RUIN OUR HOUSE - approx. 11-5pm. He had to kick her out so he could pick up my son from day care! Here is what I came home to: * Our living room hardwood was FULL of waxy film, which my husband slipped on. * Bathrooms sinks & toilets were the only areas cleaned * Both showers and tubs - dirty as before. I know because the rings around my son's tub were still there. * None of the trash in 5 areas were emptied * Our kitchen metal backsplash has visible SCRATCHES from an ABRASIVE (ie. cleanser, sponge??) and needs to be buffed out. My husband only noticed this AFTER the cleaner left. One can tell she starts to polish it, then stopped as soon as the scratches appeared. She never mentioned this to my husband. Magic Maid also claims "Our eco-friendly approach is the safest, most responsible method of service available and includes the use of environmentally sensitive technology and highly effective non-toxic products." When I called John to deal with my dissatisfaction, and asked what the cleansers used, he said "Comet". COMET??? What is environmentally sensitive about that? Is that what scratched up our custom backsplash and messed up our floor??!! The smell from whatever other cleaner she used was so strong my husband had to open the windows in 80+ weather, although we had the air conditioner going. We essentially handed someone $100 to make more work for ourselves. My husband ultimately ended up cleaning the entire floor by himself the following day. Although John seemed willing to correct the problem, our family wanted to be able to enjoy our weekend without having to stay at home to make sure someone was doing the job correctly, a second time! I don't know what Del Mar or La Jolla homes this company is servicing, but here in Eastlake we will not be calling upon them again.

Have already recommended them to my friends and family. During my residency I experienced multiple issues, including move-in lockouts, months of elevator noise, a freezer/ice maker that never functioned properly, billing errors that were initially denied and later corrected, and communication that often focused on closing work orders rather than confirming the resident's experience had actually been resolved. I repeatedly escalated concerns and was often told issues had already been addressed, even when they had not. In one case I was told my utility billing was correct, only to later receive a credit after another review. My freezer was also described as repaired months before it actually worked. The property itself is beautiful, and many of the onsite staff and residents were kind. My concern is with the management culture. There seemed to be a greater emphasis on administrative completion than on making sure residents genuinely felt heard or cared for. If you're considering living at one of their communities, ask detailed questions about how maintenance issues are verified, how utility charges are calculated, and how resident concerns are escalated. A luxury property should provide a luxury experience--not just luxury finishes.

Three weeks ago, After I reported to her that the cleaning was only satisfactory, and telling her the things that, after a year, should have been attended to without me having to complain, she told me that going forward it was necessary to raise my price to $320 for 2 people or $295 for one person. After telling her I couldn't do that, she wished me the best going forward. Now, after cleaning our house myself for the past 3 weeks, I'm finding areas that were totally left uncleaned. In addition, the issues happening constantly were the scheduling: a different time every 2 weeks, and except for one cleaner most of the time, a different "trainee" with her each time. Sometime a very rushed cleaning. Brenda wanted to charge me $45 extra to clean my refrigerator. It's just my husband and myself, plus 2 cats, we aren't dirty people with a big dirty house. They didn't have to do laundry, or make or change the beds. If the windows got cleaned they were left streaky. I feel like she just didn't want our business. I don't recommend the service.
