My first experience…read morewas wonderful, they were able to squeeze me in before an appointment, which I was extremely grateful for, they gave me exactly what I asked for and that set the tone for me, finally I found a salon I will love! Or so I thought.. I came back a second time after being assured over the phone they could take us in, great! We're on our way! Mind you we live 35 min away. I come in with my daughter, only one of the ladies was available as soon as we walked in, fine I'll wait, no big deal. After sitting and waiting for the other person to be free (which wasn't long after we arrived) she proceeded to ignore me sitting there, walking past me MULTIPLE times, being reassured by the lady cutting my daughter's hair that they'd be right with me, and then after an hr I am told that they'd had an appointment and didn't have time for me, I understand an appointment take precedence over a walk in, but then why make me wait just to be told no?! STILL, I came back again! Trying to give it yet ANOTHER chance, this time being considerate of THEIR time and making an appointment. I show up for my appointment 10min early, she is still with her current client, no big deal, I'm early. Waiting, waiting, waiting and yes WAITING, I was barely acknowledged when I walked in, and then proceeded to be ignored while the stylist went well past MY scheduled appointment, not once offering any reassurance that she would be right with me, talking and taking her time and completely being inconsiderate of MY time. 20min PAST my scheduled appointment and STILL she talked and laughed even inviting another employee into the conversation further prolonging the other person's appointment and completely ignoring me and my time. Unless they know you personally and have built a relationship with you, don't bother coming here, you'll be completely ignored and made to feel completely irrelevant. I don't make it a habit of writing reviews, even when I've left feeling less than satisfied, however when I try so hard to give a business the opportunity to keep me coming back and they continue to give me reasons not to come back, I have to voice my experience. And no, I wasn't a Karen or rude, I simply walked out.

I came to Artisans with my bridesmaids for my Bridal Hair and MakeUp and everything was wonderful!…read moreThey made me feel the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life. I had never been there before as I don't live in Monterey. Ever since I contacted them, Renee was very friendly and answered all of my questions. The morning of the wedding, we arrived at their beautiful, sunny, and posh salon. For the VERY fair, great price we paid, and for being first time customers there, we felt treated like VIPs. I want to give a HUGE thank you to Brandy for the greatest makeup I've ever had done. I have bad skin with a lot of little blemishes, including my back, so I was so worried about my skin looking good on my wedding day. They do not offer airbrushing, but Brandy's technique made my skin look truly flawless! She was very bubbly and a pleasure to chit chat with, and she made me look stunning. I would highly recommend her for your makeup needs! Thank you Brandy! Renee did my fancy updo and it was also fantastic. My mistake was that I wasn't very clear in describing what I wanted and didn't want, and it started looking not quiet what I envisioned, so I just took a moment to clarify more what I had in mind, and she was very accommodating and understanding, and in the end it was perfect. The updo was very creative and complex! She clearly has a lot of skill in many different techniques, and I would absolutely go back for any other hair service - too bad I live in the bay area, but I do hope to return to Artisans. Thank you so much Renee! I didn't get to talk much to Nana but she helped do my bridesmaids' hair which all looked great. Thank you Nana. I think its a great place and brides-to-be should definitely consider it. Honestly the prices are what led me to choose this place, and the quality was excellent! Thank you Artisans for being a special part of the happiest day of my life, it will always be remembered. Pictures Included!

I pleaded through the years for a lil more edgy look, but my stylist insisted I was asking for a mullet. Well some good friends of mine recommended 2 ladies from Hair unlimited, I chose Danyelle Castro, and I am completely committed to her for life! She said with enthusiasm, "let's do it, this mullet!". I got the most amazing cut, style and experience. I finally got the look I've wanted for years! A year later, we started playing with colors. I had virgin hair, so it wasn't complicated to work with. Now I've got an edgy cut with beautiful colors! Please don't expect miracles if you're hair has already been colored. These ladies really do their best with what you come in with. With that, I truly believe she should have her own salon, she is most definitely In a league of her own. In Monterey I gladly paid $95.00 a cut and style alone, so the price at hair unlimited is shockingly underpriced. Danyelle is well worth the tips I leave her. Lastly did I mention my 4 year old at the time, had never had his original baby hair ever cut?! I wanted a shag, shoulder length for him, and she did his very first cut perfectly! He is 6 this year, and jus adores her! So what are some of the minor downfalls. Product. I am not a big fan of the shampoo and conditioners they use, however the treatments Danyelle chooses personally are excellent. Scheduling. Ok on occasion it has been a tug of war to find a time that works for both of us but as a working mom, and business owner, I have the patience to wait for a quality and fantastic cut! I will wait for Danyelle! Sorry this is long, my final words would be give Danyelle or Faviola a try! I get compliments constantly on the cut alone, and now even the colors. You' ll enjoy their company and energy! Sincerely, g

Since both are extremely…read morepicky and particular and the salon is so close to my place of residence, I decided to give this place a shot. I'm so glad I did! Rosa is genuinely nice. She's probably the nicest hairstylist I've ever met! She's very friendly, helpful, and amiable. Although it was the first time we met, we hit if off right away! We were talking about all sorts of subjects. It was like meeting up with an old friend! I have never dyed my hair before and she was very easy to work with during the entire process. She uses certified organic ingredients which I like because the thought of chemically burning my hair and permanently damaging it with chemicals terrifies me! She also gave me helpful tips on how to care for my newly color treated hair and recommended the types of hair styling products to use. She also trimmed my hair and did such a fantastic job styling my hair! I went to a Christmas party afterwards and received a lot of compliments. I don't usually like my hair straightened because I have naturally wavy hair and it's a lost cause because my hair generally refuses to stay straight, but this time around I liked how the straightening turned out. She takes genuine pride in her work and it definitely shows! Another wonderful thing about Rosa is she is flexible. I called her at the last minute, (the afternoon before the party), and she was able to see me right away! I wasn't passively told to make sure to schedule an appointment ahead of time. Nor did she give me attitude for my last minute appointment. Now that's what I call quality and service! Parking is not at all an issue with tons of available spots in a private parking lot. This little business center complex doesn't have very many business so there isn't too much competition when it comes to parking spaces. Keep in mind that she only accepts cash or check. Since I only had my bank card with me, I asked her if I could go get a check at my house that is a block away and she agreed. I offered to leave my driver's license as collateral and she refused. She trusted me, a total stranger whom she met for the first time! Needless to say I tipped her well and made a promise to return. After years of searching, I think I finally found a hairstylist! I highly recommend Rosa for all your hair care needs!

This review is only concerning Kali. The shop is clean, and…read moreI have heard good things about the owner Rosa. But I don't recommend Kali. I made an appointment for the next day. We were texting about it and both of us were confused. I just wanted more highlights, and I wanted them much lighter. She kept recommending baby lights. But that would be my entire head. I sent her a photo of highlights in the shade I wanted. She said that was both high and low lights and would be 250. I told her my limit was 200, meaning that was out. She just didn't get it. So, I said ok, lets cancel while I think about it. That way I could reschedule in a day or two. She said that would be $25.00 added to my next appointment. What? We only made that appointment 2 hours ago! I'm not a child that needs to be punished! Ok, She is very young and I could be her grandmother. So, the next morning I texted her and asked if the appointment wasn't filled, I decided what I wanted, but I would need her to wave the $25 charge. She was offended. Well, I was offended too. She made me feel like a child getting a slap on the hand. In my eyes I was giving her a chance and I feel she needs to work with people. She kept texting me with a lot of disrespect. She was trying to turn the entire thing around like she is perfect, and no one is better than her as a stylist. She thinks it was about her prices. Wrong, I have no problem with what someone charges, I just keep it to what I can afford. But...Don't treat me like a child. I finally had to block her number. Kali is disrespectful period. She has a lot of growing up to do.
