    TING Butterbeer
    Elise D.

I just recently discovered Alloy and I'm so glad I did. I'm not a huge beer drinker. I pretty much stick to sours and other beers that are fruity/dessert like and don't taste like beer (you will never catch me sipping an IPA!). My boyfriend loves craft beer so he is a lot more eager to try out breweries because he enjoys pretty much any style of beer. Let me tell you about what made me excited about this place: their TING Butterbeer hard soda! Now, along with not being a huge beer person, I'm also not really a fan of hard seltzers. I don't like the fact you can usually barely taste whatever flavor it is. I don't like regular seltzers either for that reason - I truly don't get the appeal of something tasting like there is a literal single drop of fruit in there. That's why I'm obsessed with the hard soda. There is actual FLAVOR in their beverages! And as a Harry Potter fan, this truly could not have gotten any better. It's like a delicious hard cream soda. It's not too heavy or sugary, which makes it a nice easy drink. This is my go-to every time. And if they stop making this one (please, PLEASE keep your Butterbeer as a menu staple!), the fact that they do hard sodas means there will likely be something I will want any time we visit. Alloy does fun events too! We went for their beer poking event which was quite fun and a great way to experiment with how caramelization can alter the flavor profile of different beers. I even tried it with my Butterbeer and it turned out surprisingly well! I love that they have menus to local delivery places available so you don't have to spend time searching on your phone and figuring out what's available for delivery nearby. I'm keeping an eye out for more events to go to at Alloy. I can't wait until it's warm again to see what their patio is like too! There is a tent set up outside for the milder days, but I am a wimp when it comes to the cold and am happy to wait until we're back in the 80's for outdoor dining. Great experiences at Alloy so far and I'm excited to continue to see what they have to offer! This might just be my new go-to when it comes to breweries!

I had tried @alloybrewingcompany many times around the cities and at beer festivals, but thought it was about time I actually went to the taproom. Lined with garage doors bringing in some of that MN summer weather and some beautiful flight boards, I of course had a great time. Strawberry Guava Laser Lips: A Sour with strawberries and guava added to the mix. It provided a pleasant medium guava / strawberry flavor and sweetness that balanced the medium tartness and medium-low acidity. Taking a sniff gives off high aromas of strawberry. Rock Out With Your Doppelbock Out: A Doppelbock with medium molasses and toasted bread crust aroma. Body not too heavy, but still I get plenty of flavors of medium-high molasses, caramel sweetness, and low butterscotch. Corrugated Cream Ale: A traditional Cream Ale with medium apple / pear flavor and low bread malt towards finish. A medium-high aroma of malts. There is a slight creaminess which gives the body a little bit of weight, but still a crushable lawnmower beer for the MN Summers. Cherry Lime Wit: A Wit with lime and cherry added. Medium lime juice aroma and low tart-cherry / medium-low lime zest flavors. A medium-thin body that you expect with a wit. Because I Was Inverted Hazy IPA: A Hazy IPA that brings the tropical fruit flavors and aromas. Medium-high orange zest and pineapple can be smelled a mile away. Low white bread, medium pineapple, and low passionfruit / lemon flavors. Midnight Snack Chocolate Stout: A Chocolate Stout that reminds me of a dark chocolate / coffee truffle. Medium roasted coffee and high dark chocolate aromas with a big brown foam with great retention. High roastiness and medium dark chocolate flavors that could fool you into thinking it's dessert.

Do not be deceived by the 3 stars, they make the best seltzer's honest to god! Anyway, onto the rest of the review. Love the staff, love that the building has so, so many garage doors, which, I'm sure, is a massive hit in the summer. However, here's where Alloy goes wrong. To begin, the parking lot holds 5 cars, I mean it's more than 5 probably closer to 25, but you get the idea. The building, you might as well be in a Chipotle. However, they have added some neat pieces. For instance there's a beautiful wood beam that they have dangled lights across just in the front of the bar. They've added tin to the walls and have rustic tables with plenty of seating outside next to heaters. This would be all be great, but enter, the LED over head-lighting. It appears as though it came right off a truck that's shining deer too late at night, and placed right onto the ceiling. Somehow this also is incorporated into the bathroom where a surgeon would certainly feel comfortable. Now let's move onto the beers that I tried, and let's be honest, it's the same problem across too many microbreweries. The cream ale, far too hoppy. The Oktoberfest, too hoppy. In fact the only beer I tried that I was impressed with was the sexy tractor. This is simply because I hate IPA's, but this one, this one impressed me. It was smooth, didn't bite too much, and had some flavor. The real secret to this place, their seltzer. It's amazing. The girl tried all 3, and for her first time, in all the breweries we went to, wanted to order a crowler. They were tart, they sweet, they were amazing. I'm not sure what they're doing back there, but golly is the seltzer good.

You would never know this Brewing Company used to be a Jiffy Lube with it's clean bright interior. Our bartender Chris was friendly, fun and helpful. I loved the choices of beer. We got a flight of 6 different beers. Chis said they are always trying something new and use in season fruit. My favorite was Blueberry what happened Bourbon Cre'am ale. It was so fruity and sweet. We were also fans of the Mango & Banana Earthshake IPA and Laser Lips kettle sour pineapple, mango lemonade (this was clear, crisp and a perfect amount of sour. After mentioning how much I liked the blueberry Chris said the butterbeer hard soda was very popular and gave me a sample. If you like cream soda this would be your drink, delicious but will probably be gone by the end of the week. Definitely stop here if you want to try something different.

A great place to hang out - 4 stars! I was lured into my first visit to Alloy Brewing with a food truck. I really enjoyed Alloy. They have a big selection of beer with a wide range of flavors. I ordered a small flight of 4. I asked the bartender to choose for me, 4 of the most different flavors (preferably bizarre) available at the time. Wow, interesting and wonderful flavors! In addition to regular food trucks (see the on-line events schedule), they offer a nice variety of local snacks. If you have the munchies, you can get some Happy Hut Popcorn, giant T-Rex Cookies, and a bunch of options from Von Hanson's Snacks like flavored pretzels, beef sticks, cheese, and meats. They have Whistler brand soda too (bottled in Spring Lake Park, MN). The employees were all great. The customers were really chill too. A lot of them were playing bingo when I visited. Finally, they have a big patio in back. It's dog friendly. It was pretty cold on the day of my visit, but they had a giant tent with a bunch of decorative propane heaters/light towers. I saw a lot of canines along with their owners all geared up with winter coats. Very cool! Thumbs up! -Maxx

Stopped here in my first night in town, and really enjoyed it! It was Halloween and Bingo night! How fun! Really enjoyed the beer, and the bartenders were very friendly. Bonus for having Tag-a-brew charms (Midwest thing)! More breweries should get on board. The only reason I knew about Alloy was through Tag-a-Brew!

Great variety on the menu! Husband got the Carmel apple pie IPA and I got the sour- both delicious. The ambiance was great! We went during bingo on Sunday and that was fun! All around good place. Location is awesome and parking is easy.

I can't tell you how many times I've driven past Alloy and didn't know it was here. I'm glad I finally found Alloy Brewing. Located in a former auto mechanic type garage, along a strip of other similar auto repair shops, complete with garage door after garage door, Alloy is easy to miss as you drive by. I enjoyed their beer. A very nice selection with 8+ varieties on tap. Something for everyone who likes beer. The flight is a good way to sample your way to a favorite or two. I really enjoyed the Corrugated Cream Ale and their Red. They have ample seating w long tables and stand up tables for groups large or small. There are TVs and board games. There is logo merchandise to take Alloy stuff home with you. I have a sticker now. What I really like is the dual garage doors that can open on both the front and rear of the taproom. I was here in winter and can only imagine how nice this taproom would be with the doors open, breeze going through, and people on the patio out back. Don't judge this taproom by the exterior. Go on inside, grab a flight and a Von Hansen meat stick, and enjoy one of the finer breweries in the suburbs. PS - I made a round trip of my visit to the NW burbs be also checking out 10K in nearby Anoka. Both are worth a visit when in the area. Cheers.

Its no surprise this hasn't been reviewed yet, as I'm sure most Yelpers wouldn't be caught dead in Coon Rapids. Bummer! Took a quick visit to this relatively new taproom in the north metro on the 4th of July. Its in an old auto garage place - maybe an old quick lube type place. The 'windows' are all overhead doors and they built wood plank floors to go over the bays in the floor - kinda cool to see the space repurposed like this. Its your typical metal/wood/loud space but very bright and spacious. There is also a patio out back with a couple of picnic tables and I think people were playing bags. The beer.... Nothing here really struck my fancy. I had a sampler because none of the beers were my preferred variety. They were fine - I think my favorite was the Alt Bier - sweeter and interesting than the others. I hope they have rotating options. There isn't a ton of parking but probably enough. I think they are working on food options (trucks) but having issues with the city. Probably best to eat before you come as I don't think there's too much in the area. This would be a great stop after a trip to the Coon Rapids dam.

On the quest of visiting every single Minnesota brewery, Alloy Brewing happened to be a spontaneous stop #64 on that list during a Sunday evening. With visiting this many breweries, the standards grow higher and it becomes a bit more difficult for any brewhall to be impressive. I could see how Alloy would be sufficient enough to locals of Coon Rapids but it was very forgettable experience to me. The brewery is in what used to be an auto shop so they have giant glass doors that can be opened for the summer time and let some fresh air into the nicely spaced out taproom. And with that I think I ran out of good things to say. The rest of the space seems run down, not cohesive design-wise, and just a tad boring. Even the board game shelf that I usually seek out looked like it's been through some things. Ordered a flight of 8 which sounds like a lot of options and variety but it felt like I kept drinking the same beer. With just the difference between the ales and darks, the beers were not memorable whatsoever. They didn't necessarily taste bad but again, I've just had way too many amazing brews around the cities that these just simply did not stand out. I might have been more lenient in enjoying the experience if our service was excellent but it also was very mediocre. The beertenders seemed to have no desire to answer questions or help with choosing. When asked for a sample they looked ticked off. The vibe was very much "if you're not from here, get out". Feeling welcomed in a new brewery is so important, especially for travelers or food / drink bloggers like myself, where the first impressions are key and determine if I'll ever be coming back. After our visit at Alloy, I can't say that a trip back will be happening any time soon.

Rarely do breweries deserve a 5 star rating...but there are exceptions. Alloy is what I think independent brewing should be! Strong brews-Minnesota brews! Delightful place (feels a little like home, if home was a automotive repair place). Our first visit here, my husband wanted a taste of what he thought he may like. Some places (won't mention any names so the don't feel bad), insist on you buying a flight when you simply want a sample taste. Our friendly barmaster allowed a nice taste of 3: Iron Kilt Wee Heavy, Pewter Porter, and Brimley Stout. That made it hard to pick only one! Eat before you come here, since there's no food on the premises. Food trucks on Friday and Saturday-check their events page for schedules & details

A brewery that isn't downtown! As much as I love the city it is nice to have the option of something closer to home. The building used to be a car repair shop and It looks like In the summer they would have the doors open with a patio on the back. For a smaller space they have tons of seating and games so come with all of your friends!! I love trying multiple beers so flights are always the way to go. The bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. They offer 3 different sized flights, I opted for the smallest that had 4 beers. They also sell beef sticks and flavored pretzels. If you're a teacher there's $1 off a pint on Fridays! I highly recommend Alloy Brewing Company and can't wait to come back when the snow has melted!

Today's choices, showing tastes of the Iron Arm Belgian Strong & Pewter Porter.

Nice to see another brewery open in the northern suburbs. Interesting space. It's a converted auto service center. Opened in June 2017. The taproom has an open and inviting feel with garages doors in front and back. (check out the photos) Makes me wonder a bit how they will keep it warm this winter. I'm sure they figured that out. More utilitarian than the converted older buildings you see in the Northeast Mpls. breweries. Nice bar area. Plenty of seating inside and outside in the back patio. Lots of parking. It's suburbia after all. As for the beers, I had the Rivet IPA, Iron Arm Belgian Strong, & Pewter Porter. All these were very tasty. Depending on your own beer style preference, I would recommend any one of these. I like that they decided to go a little bolder on ABVs for their beer. It gives them 'more character'. :) I'm usually not big on Belgian Strong beers. But, I really like their version. It was actually my favorite of what I tasted. (a rarity for me) Plenty to like here. If I could, I would give them a 4 star +. I will be back.

This has earned a spot on our lunch rotation.

This happened in July, and I have been trying since then to have them meet me at least halfway with the expenses. However, after multiple attempts to address this and sending them my invoices, the Brew Park manager assured me that her upper leadership was still looking into things, but that there had been a "death in the family." I can respect a family loss and was patient, but after subsequent follow ups, I was given the same excuse each time, and never heard a word from "leadership". I followed up again last week, and finally heard from Jake Henninger (Director of Business and Staff Development,) 6 months after the fact, and the excuses abounded.....yes sorry, actually we had 2 deaths in the family, and oh, sorry we never got your (multiple) messages from the manager and by the way she doesn't work here anymore (convenient), and finally, the groomer just contracts with us (therefore, not really our problem). I explained that the services of their 3rd party/contracted affiliates are under their brand, but he didn't seem to care. Last week he said he'd agree to pay for the first vet visit ($130,) and I said I would also at least like a full refund for the grooming services plus tip ($200)... In total, this would be $330. He agreed to get back to me on "Monday" this week, after speaking to their groomer. He did not. So I followed up today and was met with more excuses (was waiting to receive the invoices from the vet, because they weren't attachments I could open...even though he was reading the invoices to me last week). Then, he tells me they will refund me $250. I told him this is not we'd discussed last week and asked him several times if he'd even spoken to the groomer but he refused to answer me. This is not even 50% of my out-of-pocket costs. Actually, the grooming service with the vet costs would be $900+! I can assure you, if you look at this place, they are making hand over fist. I let them know from the beginning I'm not "trying to get rich," off of this, but am asking for reasonable reimbursement. Yet in spite of them causing the issue, neglecting to tell me about the injuries, ignoring me for 6 months and blaming everyone and everything else, I've declined their offer and will be pursuing this in small claims court. A lot of unnecessary time wasted. Am I the only one, or does it seem like "customer service" has taken a complete nosedive since Covid? So disappointing.

We were sat a couch not too far from where the music was performed. It wasn't too busy as it was later in the evening. We only ordered drinks but they do have a select few menu items (maybe 5 things total). For drinks we got a tropical punch one (forgot the name), vanilla espresso martini and they also had free champagne as well. Drinks were pretty good. The overall vibes were lively and fun! Because the website is down not sure if they are open later everyday but they were open until 11pm this night vs. the 10pm posted time which was cool. Smaller intimate setting. The bathroom is in a shared hallway and requires a code. Parking is metered or there's ramps nearby. Wasn't too hard finding a meter later at night.

The atmosphere of the place gives a nice relaxed and colorful vibe, and the drinks and food menu had a stunning variety. The music was performed by Javier Hernandez and his band and was beautiful. The music here will change day to day, but on this Friday evening ours was beautiful. It included piano, trumpet, bongos, drums and bass. Staff were all attentive without being overbearing and allowed us to enjoy the music, and the food ended up being fantastic. We got deviled eggs (some of the best I've ever had) and Okonomiyaki which in this case was a variation of fried sweet potato and was delicious. Drink variety ranges from fruity cocktails to wine to N.A. beer and they had something for everyone. My only complaint of the evening was the booth we sat in was not very comfortable and it required a lot of fidgeting. Other than this 5/5 experience.

I went on a night where the Berlin donated all proceeds to the Immigrant Defense Network, and I appreciated seeing them stand with their community. The staff explained the cause, and why they participated in the no buy day. This place was worth the hype, I put off going for months, but will be going back! Next time I go, I'll need to try a snack or get a drink! I think it would really elevate the experience.
