I was in the area and heard that Allora Gelato was the best ever. I figured I better try this for myself. Quick tip. Order the size and container of your gelato at the kiosks and then you can sample and make your selections when you get to the counter. There was a long line and only one employee serving customers, but he did an excellent job working through the line and not rushing people. He actual took time to ask how my day was. The gelato itself is heavenly. I mixed the bourbon salted caramel and chocolate brownie. The texture was smooth and the flavor transcendent. This place is incredible. The absolute best frozen dessert place I've ever had in Arizona. You order your size on an iPad and pay which I love because it speeds up the rest of the process. You either get 1 or 2 scoops in a cone or cup. I got 2 scoops in a cone for $10. The staff are super friendly and warm and if it's not busy you can try a few flavors! The place is small but clean and feels elevated and like a luxury experience. The cones are gluten free made with rice flour and so delicious. They hold together but are perfectly crunchy and not sugary or overpowering. The Argentinian churro tastes exactly like a churro. Cinnamon-y, not too sweet or artificial! The chocolate brownie is rich and dark but the brownie chunks taste like homemade gooey brownie not like candy or pre-bought pieces. I also tried the bourbon salted caramel which I would 100% get next time just to try a new flavor combo. The ice cream is SO creamy and thick and doesn't melt too quick. They also mentioned it has less sugar and fat than normal ice cream so I guess it's healthy! LOL! Allora blew me away. I'm mad it took me this long to come in. In the summer, it is a bit harder to savor the flavors cause it is melting so quickly sitting outside (cones are not allowed in the car). But isn't it fun to chase those delectable drips down the cone onto my fingers, just part of the experience that makes it more memorable? Thank goodness we have a stash of wipes in the car! We had to place our orders on the tablets first then we waited for our name to be called out. The employee who helped us out was VERY friendly and patient. My friend suggested we stop by Allora Gelato after lunch. She had their Mango Sticky Rice gelato on her last visit and loved it, so I was excited to try it. I've never been here before, but honestly, I never say no to gelato. It's a really small and cute gelato shop on Shea. Some of their flavors are seasonal, so unfortunately, the Mango Sticky Rice wasn't available this time. That was kind of a bummer because I really wanted to try it. The server was really nice and let us sample a few flavors before making our final decision, which I always appreciate. I ended up getting Matcha Green Tea and Dark Chocolate. The matcha was good, but the dark chocolate was my favorite, super rich, creamy, and very chocolatey. Definitely one of those desserts that makes you feel a little guilty, but totally worth it. It is a bit pricey though. One small scoop is about $7.50. But maybe that's a good thing; otherwise I'd probably be here all the time. I think this is the best gelato I've had in Phoenix. THE HAZELNUT & ORANGE ZEST was my favorite flavor, just wow. Nothing else like it in AZ that I've had. Pistachio is amazing too. The texture of their gelato is so smooth and creamy. Place was packed on a Friday night so expect a wait. You order and pay on the tablet first to basically reserve a spot, adding your quantity of cups/scoops. You can watch and smell them making waffle cones while waiting. Wow, the gelato at this cute shop was so creamy and delicious! It was really busy and there was a long line on this Friday night. The staff said it's usually busy but not this much and it may be because of the warmer weather this weekend. You can sample the different flavors but when busy they do ask to keep it to a total of 3 sample requests to help with line (understandable). I went with the Mexican Coffee and Chocolate Brownie on their delicious gluten-free waffle cone. Seriously the cone itself is good, and why my friend recommended this place. Of course even better with the gelato. If you're looking for a non dairy option, I recommend the Dark Chocolate. It's a sorbet, but doesn't look or taste like your typical sorbet. You pick what scoops and bowl/waffle cone options you want and pay on the 2 iPads right inside the door, then you go to the counter, taste the flavors and pick the flavor you want for your order. The flavors we tested were amazing and we went with mango sticky rice and passionfruit (dairy free). The mango sticky rice did have a hint of the sticky rice part but was mostly mango. Nevertheless it was still delicious! The texture was so smooth too. Definitely recommend this flavor. The passionfruit was delicious as well with more of a sorbet texture. My dad and I walked in and there were two parties ahead of us... we order on the iPad (two iPads, you order then they have your name to know what you ordered, pretty smart! No cash). And we turn around and there's five more parties behind us... and they just kept on coming! It's a small store with all seating outside (and outside it's limited seating) so it was a lot. There were two team members serving the ice cream - I think one is the owner - it takes a good few minutes per person to get the order served, which is nice because you get to try the flavors and don't feel rushed and the owner expertly put my ice cream in my ice cream cone - but it just means if there's a line then you're going to wait for a while. We tried the salted bourbon caramel and strawberry dolce - both delicious. I got the strawberry (seasonal) and ricotta and fig (always there) with a gf cone and my dad got the strawberry and pistachio on a gf cone. He thought the pistachio was almost too salty!! This is maybe the only place with fresh gluten free cones so that's SO NICE!! It was so good. We didn't get the wafer because it's not gluten free / some can tolerate but we played it safe. It was $10 per person for two scoops and a cone, which is expensive. But it's very high quality so once in a while won't break the bank. The store smells so good with the waffle cones going. I love gelato! I met some friends here on a late Sunday afternoon and there were a few folks in line. It's a small but inviting shop and the staff were handing out stickers to the kiddos, very sweet. There are two iPads for ordering near the entrance which I hadn't seen before at a dessert shop. I thought I had to choose which flavors I wanted, but you just choose the menu item you want (1-2 scoops, cup vs cone, etc). Then, when it's your turn in line, you can sample up to 3 flavors to see what you want. I tried the mesquite honey chamomile, lemon lavender sorbet, and lemon basil. The mesquite honey was just okay for me, the lemon lavender was delicious, and the lemon basil was tame compared to its lemon sister. A light hint of basil and creamier than the sorbet. I knew I was going to get the vegan dark chocolate and I chose the lemon lavender sorbet to accompany it. It was a lovely combo: the light, refreshing flavors of the sorbet next to the rich, creamy dark chocolate. The lavender flavor was on the strong side but I liked it. I got these scoops in a cone and a little wafer, which I used to sample my friend's flavors, and the cone was tasty and gluten-free btw. I just happened to get the two vegan flavors and I really enjoyed them; in fact, I prefer them at gelato shops. Wowwwww if you have not tried this place or if you think you don't like Gelato I advise you to run here and try there's because it was absolutely amazing. It is located in a small shopping area and it's easy to locate because of the long line out front that is usually there. This was my first time here and I'm already waiting to go again. You start by ordering your items on the kiosk but don't fear making your choice because you're just selecting the item and not the flavors. When you make it to the counter to where you can try there's flavors you just give them your name and they have the screen with all your orders. Now if it is really busy they will limit you to how many you can try just so others don't have to keep waiting and I will say some of these flavors were absolutely amazing. I ended up getting the chocolate brownie and Pistachio but some of the others I tried were so good I will need to go back to order them, and I think I will get a cone next time since there hand making them while your in line.
