I've been using Alligator Septic for ten years, ever since we moved into our home, and I wouldn't use anyone else. John is the best! I was happy and pleased with cooperation and manners and pride in their work with the techs andrew and chris today. they came out assessed my situation and although the service was a bit pricey, the service they gave was worth it to me. I pray I dont need to call them again soon, but if I do, I would ask for these guys, they did a great job and it is appreciated from another plumbing professional. joe carazola Plumbing contractor retired read more

I'm truly thankful that I found this family owned business during a (disgusting lol) difficult time. We bought a home and one month into living here started having septic problems... it was terrible. (NOTE for future home buyers-- if you have a septic tank, pay the extra $ for an inspection! Ours would have failed!!!) We were unable to shower or use our bathrooms for almost a week because the septic tank was backing up and overflowing through every pipe! Luckily a neighbor was kind enough to let us shower there, but it was one of the most difficult things we've ever gone through. We had 3 other very popular companies try to help us but none of them could locate our septic tank- it was the strangest thing one of them barely even looked around and left without talking to me. I found A Alligator online and gave them a call. The level of professionalism and knowledge didn't compare to those other companies, and they were eager and not afraid to help us find our septic tank and fix our problem. In a matter of minutes after one crew arrived, calls were made and all hands were on deck. One of the guys from the team had a special machine that was able to locate the septic tank with underground locating technology and cameras and lines were run. It really seemed like a project out of a movie! They found our septic tank, dug up and built a manhole with a cover that allowed easy access from that point forward, emptied the tank and checked the tank for damage. Luckily the tank was in great shape and the problem was solved. I truly wish I would've written down the names of the gentlemen that helped me. I was so stressed out and overwhelmed with the situation and each one was not only kind, but truly seemed to want to help me and my family for the sake of how much we were struggling. I have recommended this company to several friends and neighbors and everyone has been happy with their service as well. As intense as the project was, I expected a huge bill and was afraid but knew I didn't have any other option since this was the only company that seemed to be able to complete the task. Surprisingly, they were fair with their pricing and won me over as a lifetime customer. read more

I can't say enough about this company, their employees and owners. Thank you so much for having worked so unbelievably hard to fix the disaster we bought 4 months ago in this house. DO NOT EVER buy a house with a septic tank and not do a specific septic tank inspection, ours would never ever have passed - lesson learned! John, Guido and Andrew were all incredible. These guys worked about 14 hours over a two day period to get our septic tank cleaned, rebuilt and functional. It hadn't been done in 50 years. Be careful out there, way to many people taking illegal short cuts and scamming people out of money. These guys were not cheap, but neither is their work. If you want things done right, call them and use them. If you want more videos, prices etc of what they did, please fel free to contact me. Thank you gentleman and keep that sense of humor! read more

Two men dug up and opened the front of my septic tank. They proceeded to tell me that my tank was completely full and sewage was to the top of the tank. They said that the drain field was damaged and that to pump, pressure wash, repair the drain field and install a metal grate would cost $4,400. I told them that I'd need to get another estimate as this was far more than I was expecting to have to pay. They said I would have to pay for the work already done, a $250 charge, or that the charge would be credited if I decided to work with them on the project that they recommended. I called the headquarters and spoke to two people there who became irate and belligerent when I didn't want to pay that much for their crew to dig a hole and give an estimate. They argued that I had ordered a septic pump out and this was the charge for a cancelled service call. They never mentioned that up front, so I didn't see why I should pay. However, after several aggravating calls I agreed to pay $125 for the visit. That in itself would be enough to merit a bad review, however, the next estimate I received from a different company was shocking. The new company said that my tank was not full, that the sewage was within the 6" level needed for proper functioning and that my drain field was mostly fine. Proceeded to work with the new company that charged a fraction of what A-Alligator tried to extort from me, and the work came with a one year warranty. A-Alligator is clearly trying to falsify problems with septic systems in order to scam unwitting homeowners out of cash. I recommend never using them. read more

I was having plumbing issues and thought it was due to neglecting my septic system and it was backing up. They came out, pumped my tanks and snaked the lines, and the issue seemed fix. A few months later the same issue came back. They did some digging and helped me find out the issue was actually in the plumbing, a tree root had grown and broken a fitting. They are friendly, and hard workers. Can't recommend them enough. read more

Hi, first time in my life I write a review but yesterday I got mugged by A Alligator Inc. Here is the story. I found then guys at Angie's list and called asking for a quote to clean the septic tank and they gave me a quote for $350. The guys arrived and they were very nice, they found the lid of the tank and as soon as they saw it they started saying: "The lid has a hole, I am sure there is a lot of dirt at the bottom or the tank, someone could fall into the tank, the lid has to be changed". They they opened the lid and when they looked at the tank they said: "the water is two inches below normal level, it must have a leak". Then the guy went away and came back and said: "The quote is $1,350, because we have to vacuum the tank, pressure clean it to see where is the crack, clean the dirt at the bottom and then placed a new lid". I really do not know much about this and I trusted the guy, so I said yes. Well, I stayed there to see the process: - They vacuumed the tank. - They pressure cleaned it. BTW there were no cracks on the tank. When I asked about the reason for the level to be 2 inches below he just said "it could have been that the last guy that cleaned the tank set it up at way". - At the bottom there were two rocks (no dirt) of the size of my fist and he asked "Do you want to remove them?" and I asked myself "Aren't you charging me $1,300 for the service and one of the reasons is that there was dirt at the bottom and now I see there is none". So I said yes and they removed it. - They replaced the cement lid with a new one, BTW the cement lid I then checked online and can be find for $50 - $90. They charged for it $450 (with installation). I do not know if all service companies do this, but it is not right. They can not take advantage of your lack of knowledge on the topic, they should advice you properly instead. Important to mention, they did a good job. I just think they could advice me to do what I really needed and charge me accordingly. Well my name is Ricardo and I hope you make a smarter decision than me choosing your septic tank provider. read more

Very disappointed in promises made and not kept. When the house drains clogged on Saturday (second time in 6 days) and we began getting sewage gas back into the house, I called several '24/7 services' and none called back. Alligator answered the phone promptly and said that they couldn't come over the weekend ('we usually run 7 trucks, but on the weekend we only have 2') but could be there at 10am on Monday morning. I decided to wait in the hopes that someone would call me back from the other companies. No one did. On Sunday, I called Alligator back and was told that they probably wouldn't be there at 10am, but they would be there as soon as possible thereafter. Fair enough. Offer accepted. On Monday, I took the day off from work to make sure that I would be home when they got to the house. At 1030am, I called again and asked when they would arrive. I was given a time of between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. At 2:20pm I called and asked when they would be arriving. I was told that they wouldn't be able to come until tomorrow morning. To me, one of the signs that you are interested in providing good customer service is that you communicate early and often, even when the news you have to convey is not good. They never communicated that timeframes had changed or that they wouldn't be able to meet promised or that they couldn't come on the promised day. I get the impression that they accept all business without any real hope of ever being able to meet their time 'commitments'. Or if they consider them to be commitments at all. That was my experience. read more

I really have an awful experience with this company, John is so arrogant and cheater. He charged on place the double because he wanted to use "the camera" he did not help at all to resolve the problem, he just came up with the answer: the pipe must be clogged" and he did nothing. well a REAL PROFESIONAL resolved the problem in 15 minutes, without a "camera" and by the way there was nothing wrong with the pipe. I wouldn't recommend this company at all. Save your money and your gallbladder this is a Rip off!!! YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR ELECTION!! STAY AWAY.. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER. We had them come out and unclog a drain. While there they told us a scary story about all types of debris and sand etc that was in immediate need of removal. They also told us a wonderful fable about how we needed a new lid and it needed to be custom fit etc. the cost we were told was $3,500 .. which sounded extremely high. We then called someone out by referral to check the system and get truthful advice. Yes we had some sand, but nothing that was causing issues or even if immediate need to remove at this time. The lid was able to be replaced for $400 and they are closing a punched hole for me. The total actual cost will be $575 to do that work. They said septic looks great. 2nd to note we found out that this company "gator" is pushing their employees to "produce" Which is another way of saying to sell. They are required to sell sell sell and produce reasons to make money. Evidenced by the difference of $3,500 vs $575 . RUUUUUUUN!!!! read more

When it comes to septic systems, if you're not on top of them and making sure they're maintained, you can easily forget about them over time and before you know it, you have a major problem on your hands. That's what happened with us. Plus, we've had other companies come by and do a half-assed job or just the bare minimum. Case in point, it turns out we didn't have a filter between the septic tank and drain field, so a bunch of solid waste ended up clogging up our drain field. But these guys are thorough and they're honest, and even though it hurts to hear that you have a problem on your hands and that it's going to cost you, at the very least you want people who are going to get the job done right so that you can move forward with peace of mind. Fabian was super honest with me and thoroughly explained everything to me so that I understood completely. Plus he gave me options so that I could make a choice for myself. I ended up biting the bullet and just doing several things all at once so that we are in the clear for a couple of years until our next maintenance. Professional manholes installed, septic tank pumped and pressure cleaned, drain field restored, etc. Luckily, our system is in decent shape and now we just have to stay on top of it. But I don't see us going with any other company going forward. You can trust these guys, it's family owned for 30 years now. Don't hesitate, get the job done right! Daleeeeeee!!! read more

After buying this house two years ago, I had been putting off getting the septic drained and inspected. I talked to different companies and finally had A Alligator come out. What was meant to be an empyting and cleaning turned into a repair and thank goodness for it. Fabian talked me through every step, showing me the problems and explaining the options. Ultimately, they were here all day and fixed all the issues left behind by the previous owner. It wasn't cheap but I think it was fair. I am the property manager for my neighbor's house next door and the tenants had a serious problem: The septic tank had backed up and was coming up in the shower of the master bath. I had made the mistake of calling another national chain septic tank service (Roto-Rooter) but after TWO DAYS of them saying they were coming and then not showing up, and me calling again and again to find out what was happening and them making excuses, I threw in the towel and looked up Septic Tank Cleaning Services in Hollywood, FL on Google and found A-Alligator Septic Cleaning Service, a local family-owned business. It was 4:30 when I contacted María, (the boss) and told her that we'd been dealing with a backed up septic tank for days now and that we were desperate! She asked for my phone number and said she would check with the driver to see his availability and call me right back. She called in under 2 minutes and said he'd be here in less than an hour - and they were! Brandon (the son) is a personable, professional who went straight to work digging and opening it up. He did find that the tank was overflowing, indicating a blocked drain field that needed replacing. He emptied the tank and flushed the lines. Then his dad, John, showed up to assess the problem and gave us a quote for replacing the blocked drain field. He wrote the quote up and showed that it includes labor, parts and permit. Everyone I dealt with at this company was absolutely great! María was prompt, courteous and professional on the phone and Brandon arrived before the appointed time. He worked quickly and efficiently and explained the process to me as he went along. John came along about 20 minutes later and discussed replacing the original drain field (from when the house was built in 1962!). He wrote up a proposal, explaining and detailing costs for labor, materials and permits and had the problem resolved in about an hour! It was a true pleasure to deal with this family-owned business from start to finish! read more

Don't believe the BS negative reviews here. These guys came out on father's day and helped me resolve my issues. They were super informative, courteous and honest. They could have really taken me for a ride but they didn't. Especially considering today is a Sunday and a holiday. Basically we had a backed up Septic tank with a daughter who just came out of a surgery and two other young ones without the ability to use the facilities. Crazy thing was that this Septic tank was basically only a year old. Talk about an overall nightmare of a day. I called them last night and Maria answered and put me on with John who walked me through a method to relieve the pressure so all the liquids in the house could hopefully drain. I was able to flush for the night. Initially he informed me that I probably need to have it pumped and to give him a call back to put in an appointment Monday. Well early in the AM clogged again. I called back and Maria helped me out looking for the permit work to figure out who installed it in the event something was incorrectly installed. We couldn't find anything but they offered to come out same day and take a look. I was stunned. John and his son came out and were super friendly and competent. They found the cap that was buried under my grass with no real trace of where it was, dug it up nice and clean, removed the cap, informed me of some issues and noted the filter needed a cleaning. Taught me how to do it myself in the future and told me the drain field looked to be operating finet based on the level of nasty stuff in the tank (my words). They snakes the pipes leading to the tank and boom, all clear. Their pricing was super reasonable and they gave me a ton of additional information on septic tank maintenance. He even told me I could hold off on a pumping, that's integrity folks. No hard sell, just honest and helpful. I will definitely do business with them in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Happy father's day John and a big thanks to you and your son for taking care of my family and not taking advantage of the situation! Father's day started off with a crappy start to but thanks to these guys a fine finish. read more

This review was based on the call. Never did get a chance to experience the actual service. Had an emergency after hours. Called this company and got John. Wish I would have listened to the poor reviews and gone with another company, because being taken advantage of by A Alligator was a violation on several different levels. If you do use them, I suggest you record the visit, as well as the initial phone call, so they don't twist things as they did with me. If there is a dispute DO NOT expect a call back from the owner. It's been 2 months since I was ripped off and even though I asked (immediately after the workers left and a couple of days later) for the owner to call me back (and was promised to expect that call) he has not called me to this day. I deserved a conversation! That speaks volumes! Expecting to pay for the pumping, pressure cleaning and possibly extra if there is dirt (which of course they said there was) my bill should have been $845 (still high in my opinion). What I didn't expect was a bill for $1545!!!! The first incident was when ( while I was watching ) THE WORKERS SHOVEL STRUCK THE SEPTIC TANK LID CAUSING A CHUNCK TO FLY IN THE AIR LEAVING A HOLE. He never uttered a word about what he had just done but continued to dig while telling me I need a new lid because the existing one was old. That lid would cost me $450!!! When I pointed out that he was the CAUSE OF THE NEW-EXISTING HOLE he merely blamed the previous company, stating they must have tried to repair a hole but did a poor make-shift job. The funny thing is that the PREVIOUS COMPANY WAS A ALLIGATOR!! The fact is that had that piece not been chipped away by the worker, I would not have had to buy a new lid for $450. Where was their responsibility in the matter? They also left a large orange plastic piece floating in the tank. When I asked about it, their reply was "It's ok, you have another one". I am left to wonder if that was an important component to the integrity of my septic tank? Did they cause it to break loose? Why was I the one to mention it rather than them? If it was not needed why did they not remove it? When putting on the new lid, they were actually going to leave a gap which would be an entryway for dirt. It is important to note that at the start of the job, as the lid was initially uncovered, the worker noticed a gap. At that time he stated "see this gap, that's how dirt gets in". Yet here he was, about to do the same until I mentioned it. He then got some wet-sand to seal the gap. Unbelievable! Worth mentioning is that I was subjected to being called "Mama" throughout the entire visit. I do not find this to be respectful or appropriate. At the end of this nightmare I was told I owed $1545! Previously I had been shown (on the WORKER'S PHONE no less) a breakdown of the prices for the pumping, pressure cleaning, the extra cost to remove dirt in the tank and the new lid. There was also a price for a leak repair ( that they said I had, which was a few thousand dollars and had to be declined that day). The total should have been $1295. Where did the extra $250 come from? There was NEVER A MENTION OR DISCUSSION OF ANY OTHER PRICE. Only after asking for an invoice did the worker go to his vehicle to get one. There was the UNDISCLOSED $250 charge to water jet the inlet plumbing line. With all of the money (and unexpected cost of the lid) that I was having to pay that day, If they would have informed me of this charge beforehand, I would have DECLINED for them to jet the line! The visit NEVER should have cost this much! I was robbed! read more

I have used this company several times in the past, as always they preformed exceptionally by showing up when they promised. We had them pump out our septic several years ago and last year they had pumped it twice and John recommended that we replace the drain field. John did come out and give us an estimate and he also explained what they were going to do and the estimated time it would take. John did everything he said he was going to do along with sending out some very qualified guys to complete the job. John was correct with his diagnosis of what the problem was, the drain field was original from the late 70's. I can only hope that the drain field that they installed will last just as long. We hired John and his guys today for a real estate septic tank inspection. Prior to hiring them for the job, I called other local providers but none offered the amount of information that Maria did when I called A Alligator. She took her time to explain what was to be expected and told me her husband John would be able to come out the next day. That day was today and I was so relieved they came. They discovered a leak in our ST, fixed it immediately and built a new manhole since the previous owners had installed a flimsy riser 20+ years ago that was no good. I would call them again in the future without hesitation. They work fast, were reliable and were fair with their pricing (considering all the work they have to do). read more

I called him and he returned that night at 8pm. Here's the thing... He COULD have said "you need $5k" in plumbing work. How would I have known any better? But he didn't. He snaked again at no charge, found the blockage and it cleared for good. He had me in a position where he could have said anything. Maria the owner was very helpful answering any questions and concerns I had. This is not a fun project to deal with and I didn't know anything about how this all works. She had her technicians Garth and Kenroy arrive the very next morning. My tank is very old and needed servicing badly since both toilets were progressively not flushing properly. I explained the gurgling sounds we were hearing coming from the toilet while we were showering. She said for sure we needed our tank pumped out. One day earlier the toilets water level came to the top almost and went down super slow and shower drained slowly. So thank goodness they were able to take care of it immediately. Both technicians were super professional and knowledgeable. It turned out there was a clog in the line which they had to snake out but the whole process seemed pretty quick. He did say no wipes or paper towels should be flushed if you have cast iron pipes which is good to know. They were mindful while cutting out the grass area to access the lids and were able to patch the grass back up neatly afterwards where you can barely notice any work was done. They also hosed down any debris off the walls and driveway when they were done. All in all and I'm super pleased and highly recommend them to take care of this type of service. I also let the owner know what a great job they did. Prices are fair but I had to pay more than I anticipated due to the condition but I had no choice and the service was well worth it to me. I will definitely use them again in the future. Also heads up the palmetto bugs, too many to count, of all sizes came crawling out while they were working on the tank so keep that in mind you will need spray to get them before they run in your house. read more
