It gets worse. After three weeks, the storage vault was still not unlocked so I just requested my money back because this was a waste of my time. I am only one person. I am not a professional reviewer but thought that experience was worth sharing. Go through this company and you may waste three weeks of your time for nothing like I did. This is not a reliable source for storage. Life is precious and should not be wasted. Need even more proof that my experience was real? The lock was red. Called back again to have the same thing happen all over again. The Penske trucks are reliable and newer models. They are professionals and on request put down floor protectors and made sure the truck was packed well, not only for transportation but also to protect the integrity of my furniture and boxed items, which (I did my part) I had blanketed in moving pads and shrink wrapped as well as packed carefully. You are messing with people's lives here. I received a confirmation call the day before my move telling me they would be there between 8am and 10am. Great! I had been packing my house for weeks, and even stayed up until three in the morning the night before the move making sure we had things ready to go. Four hours of sleep is terrible, but at least I would not have to do all the heavy lifting myself! Right? WRONG. At 8:15am the day of the move, I receive a call telling me they will not be able to move me that day due to a crew leader having an emergency the night before. There was not even an apology, no "I'm sorry", no offer to move me the following day, no offer for the owner to step in and cover the shift of their employee. This was Saturday, and the earliest they could move me was Tuesday. EVERYTHING IN MY HOUSE WAS PACKED AND READY TO GO. I had the internet being shut off at the old place that Monday (I work from home) and being installed at the new place the day of the move. I had other maintenance people scheduled that afternoon. Because I thought I would def be available in the afternoon if we had movers coming in the morning. I was supposed to have all day Sunday to relax and unpack my house to get ready for the week to begin. BUT NO, WE JUST HAD TO RENT A UHAUL AND DO IT OURSELVES over two days of backbreaking work. I luckily had three saints of friends come help us, or I don't know if we could have even done it. Thanks for nothing, Mayberry. Ok, Home Rentals does not deserve a 5 stars by any means. But in sum, you get what you pay for. I…read morelived in a two bedroom house with plenty of storage area for $400 a month. All of their properties are inexpensive. Sure, the floors were crooked, there wasn't central AC, and many parts of the construction itself were questionable. However, the place was livable and, with a little effort, felt like a home. As for their customer service, it could be better. They always picked up the phone when I called and did their best to answer my questions, though. When our stove went out, we had a replacement within a few days and a brand new one at that. My only complaint is that because they manage so many properties, they won't remember why you called or your problems the next day. I also am not happy with the fact that they don't have an emergency number anywhere on their website (I personally never used it). Remember that many people only leave reviews when they have a bad experience. Home Rentals rents to hundreds of Carbondale students and residents, and only a fraction are on here leaving a review. I'd recommend Home Rentals to a fellow student with a small budget, mediocre expectations in housing, and one that isn't too high maintenance.
