Ok, Home Rentals does not deserve a 5 stars by any means. But in sum, you get what you pay for. I lived in a two bedroom house with plenty of storage area for $400 a month. All of their properties are inexpensive. Sure, the floors were crooked, there wasn't central AC, and many parts of the construction itself were questionable. However, the place was livable and, with a little effort, felt like a home. As for their customer service, it could be better. They always picked up the phone when I called and did their best to answer my questions, though. When our stove went out, we had a replacement within a few days and a brand new one at that. My only complaint is that because they manage so many properties, they won't remember why you called or your problems the next day. I also am not happy with the fact that they don't have an emergency number anywhere on their website (I personally never used it). Remember that many people only leave reviews when they have a bad experience. Home Rentals rents to hundreds of Carbondale students and residents, and only a fraction are on here leaving a review. I'd recommend Home Rentals to a fellow student with a small budget, mediocre expectations in housing, and one that isn't too high maintenance. read more

They're good to live with. The apartment was huge for the price, even had our own dishwasher and laundry closet. Our apartment was super close to campus and I pretty much always felt safe there. Never had any issues with staff they were always friendly to me. read more

I would never recommend this landlady. I was treated with disrespect by the woman in there office. My roommates and I moved into a house that we had picked out the prior school year. In the fall we moved in and were disgusted by what we experienced. Cockroaches, bed bugs, and even a cat were living in the house when we arrived. All they did was bug bomb it and seal off a hole in the wall where the cat got in. Home rentals is a slum lord. Every friend I have spoke to agrees! read more

Stay away, I rented for my daughter for 18 months, never missed payment even payed several months forward . Gave them a 750.00 deposit. Guess how much. I got back. 000.00 yes Zero. Ive heard they use the security deposits to fix normal wear and tear because they dont do normal upkeep on their properties. Ok full disclosure I didnt expect the first 250.00 back Dog deposit, but the other 500.00. Same BS as all people go through stain on the carpet, scratch on door. I was told the oven was a little dirty. So it was only a 175.00 dollar charge on that item. I moved my daughter out on Aug.12th, but paid the full Aug rent giving the an extra 18 days to do any touch ups. I bet a cleaning lady crew came in and touched up in 2 hours. I have before and after photos. 18 months 600 month. 10,800 and you keep the security deposit. Becky is a nice lady until she finds out you inquiring about the security deposit. Go figure. I dont recommend Home Rentals, there are better people companies to rent from in Carbondale. These people bet you wont turn it over to an attorney, well they bet wrong this time.. If I could give home rentals 0 stars I would. I've been living on their properties for 2 years now and have consistently had problems, some before I even moved in. Today, a representative of their business knocked on our front door and gave no time for my then sleeping room mate to answer the door. They walked in immediately and walked the entire house. After the representative left my room mate got up. She came downstairs to find the lights still turned on down stairs and a sheet we put up to hide our bikes from guests torn down. We called after to see what they needed and they told us they thought we were moved out of the apartment when we still have 5 days left to leave as we are transferring, unfortunately, to another one of their properties, not completely leaving their rentals. They came in without proper warning and left the lights on when we are still paying the electricity bill!!! Unprofessional and careless as always. If you can, rent from a different company. read more
