My mother, my brother, and myself have been getting our hair cut's here since as far back as I can recall. The customer service is on a VIP level. They never fail to follow up and make calls to remind you of your appointment. The reception staff is welcoming and professional. The stylist are all friendly and extremely well versed and skilled in their trades. I have been having my stylist, Arlene, cut my hair for over five years. She is always attentive to my needs and requests. She is conversational during the service and is genuine in her care for your hair and person. I strongly recommended AHS as a hair salon and even more so recommend Arlene as a stylist, I always leave with a smile and looking great. read more

I have been to AHS 3x now. Prior to giving them a shot I usually went to hi-end NYC hair salons. So to be perfectly honest AHS outweighs the hi-end NYC salons. My hair artists are Doree and Dana and my color and cut fit my age and hair texture A++. I myself recommend them to anyone looking for top of the line stylists with quality products and talented beauticians. TERI read more

First time here today. Right off the bat the receptionist was SO accommodating for my last minute request for a cut and dry. Went above and beyond to fit me in. Lina did my hair. Not only is she very experienced and so personable, she really listened to what I wanted, didn't get scissor happy, my hair looks great, and she recommended inexpensive products to help in the future. Will definitely be going back. read more

What a great experience! Found out of about AHS on Groupon and was able to meet Dana. My first time there and from start to finish everything felt personal. She did my hair and also brought me coffee (in a cute fancy glass cup which I thought was super cute). Services were great also. As if it couldn't get any better, I got a coupon via email for 20% off. So now, I'm going to take my mom there and make sure I book again with Dana! read more

Best hair salon in Bergen County. Looking for a master colorist, book with Doree. By far the best colorist I've ever experienced. I also love their Keratin treatments and am partial to having Olivia do my hair. From what I see, all the stylists are top notch. If you're looking for a new place to go, you will not be disappointed! Plus, as an added bonus, I get my eyelash extensions done her too. The best!! read more

Terrible. Asked if they could dye my hair a certain shade. Was shown pictures of what could be done and I ended up with clown hair color. Two visits and never went back. Went somewhere else and it was fixed in one visit. Paid so much money to ruin my hair and then had to pay to get it fixed. Go somewhere else! read more

Went to Allendale Hair Studios. Great blow out from Ashley. Very personable and did a great job.

As a colorist, Doree is a master of her craft. She listens to you and studies your face. I have been going to her for years and have never been disappointed. I can honestly say that I am often stopped by strangers who say they love my hair color. Simply put, Doree is the best. read more

I'm in town for a wedding, and my girlfriend needed to get her hair done the day of the wedding. We called in and set up an appointment for the day of the wedding, and thought everything would be fine. All my girlfriend needed to get done was have her hair curled (NOT washed, NOT dried, NOTHING ELSE. JUST CURL). After the stylist was done, my girlfriend was charged $75 (that's SEVENTY FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS)!!!! I cant believe the absurd price of having her hair curled only. And the stylist didn't even do that great of a job, as my girlfriend had to repeatedly direct her how to curl it and add volume to the top and back. Definitely would NEVER go back, just for the sheer absurdity of their prices. read more

*The following review is regarding Enza, the esthetician at Allendale Hair Studio* Enza is the most amicable employee at AHS. Her knowledge and quality of work is wonderful. I have been to other places to get my eyebrows waxed and no one else compares to Enza. I go to school in California and when I come home from break, I ALWAYS pay Enza a visit. She is so personable and makes you feel extremely comfortable. I always look forward to seeing her, not to mention get my bushy eyebrows waxed! Olivia is amazing!!!! I had my reservations about dying my hair to such an extreme (dirty blond to fire red) she has a great personality and confidence, she won me over with three simple words "just trust me" and I'm soooooo glad I did. She's a true professional whom I actually enjoy chair chat with! She listens to your questions and concerns and answers them all in a really friendly manner no matter how many you ask! (Which, trust me... was ALOT!) Great experience OVERALL. 5 stars, deff going back!!!! read more

I have been going to Allendale hair studio since my mother convinced me I needed a change about 3 years ago. She sent me to Doree and she was wonderful. From there I moved on to Kristin and she has been fantastic as well. They are willing to listen and hear how you really want your hair to look before beginning any process. I can't say enough about the shop and all of its employees. Everyone is so accommodating I even sent my 19 year old brother to Olivia and he couldn't have been happier. Whether you need a simple haircut, extensive color or anything in between its the best place go. read more

I had my highlight done my Doree. Words cannot express how amazing she was with me. After having my twins (4 yrs old now) I lost a significant amount of hair. Now with new growth after a three year battle, my hair is damaged and fragile. After providing that information to Doree, she knew exactly what she needed to do with my hair. Unfortunately my hair needs help and it will take a while to get it where Doree and I want it to be. During my appointment, Doree really took her time to consult with me how I would like my hair. She evaluated my skin tone, eye color and personality to get a hair color that suits me. She was professional and caring. I can't wait for the final product, as I want to rush to that moment, but Doree knew my hair would not take. I love being around positive people that empower me to be my best. Doree's work ethic and passion for coloring was positive and empowering. read more

Went here on a whim in November. They were able to accommodate me easily enough with a wait. They did not seem busy. The stylist was talking on her phone beforehand while I was waiting. 1 Stars for inflexible policy, bad, uncheck color. After being a loyal customer, a new hairdresser made a mistake with my teenage daughter highlights. After being sent home with wet hair, her hair dried to an unnatural brassy yellow with a green tone. Previous colorist checked on finished, dry hair color. We went back and a kind experienced, colorist tried to correct it - the color was shifted to darker, slightly red tone, covering all highlights. We were told we could come back as many times as it took to correct the unwanted odd, coloring. that this color correction might take time. But the damage was done and my kid could not go back to this salon for multiple visits. Her hair had previously only had very light, natural highlights. We went to the original stylist, who was now at another location, HARU, and the situation was corrected for half the costs at Allendale and my daughter was happy. After calling the Allendale Hair Salon 6 times to speak to the owner to request a refund or partial refund, he return my call and said, if he gave me a refund, he would have to give everyone a refund. That I could come back as many times as it took to correct the color. I explained that this was a kid, who would not return multiple times to have her hair color corrected from the original natural high lights. I asked if he would exercise his discretion to give a partial refund. I appealed calmly to him that the $180., including the tips was a lot of money, that went to the original colorist at another salon and did have what happened corrected in one session for half the price. He said he did not believe it and asked me how I found this other colorist who had worked for him, it was odd. The HARU salon my daughter went to in Ho-Ho-kus was a younger, better fit for my daughter, more up to date, as well as better financially, and they did not add on extra procedures to raise the price. This is the first time I have ever posted, I understand making mistakes, it was that this man would not even consider a partial refund for his stylist errors, that coming back several times was not an option in this case and I did spend quite a bit on previous visits to this salon. read more

I don't even know where to begin. I have had years of damage in my hair and very bad cuts. I had what I thought was somewhat curly hair, but it never seemed healthy. I went to Doree looking for a specific color. She was amazing from the start. We did an online consultation and she was confident that she could give me what i wanted. When I arrived, she explained that I would have to wait for the color blocking because she did not want to damage my hair anymore. I agreed. She studied my skin tone and my eye color and said she was going to match my eye color. I was thrilled it was exactly what i was looking for. Then she explained to me that she would cut my hair to showcase my curls without sacrificing length. i was skeptical about the curls because it has always been some crazy waves to no waves, no curls. Well, when I was done....i was astounded. The color was perfect....i had curls i never knew existed....AND then she blew the cut out straight and I was amazed. I truly don't think I have ever been happier with my hair even weeks later. She is truly an artist who could work anywhere in the world and I feel so fortunate to have found her. Her entire staff is extremely talented and she oversees every step in her clientele's experience. Doree is my hair fairy!!! read more

I just recently started going to AHS after my sister raved about Doree and her unbelievable talent when it comes to coloring. I was so happy to see that my younger sister knew what she was talking about. My hair was washed out after coloring and hilights that I had been doing for years. Doree spent time with me, asking me questions about my hair and what I was looking to obtain. I just wanted my deep brown, shiny hair back that nature gave me, well little did I know that Doree was able to mimick nature, but she did. I left there thrilled with the color and softness that had eluded me for years. After my great experience with Doree, I decided to try a facial with Enza, which was unbelievable. Enza is not only a sweetheart, but so proffesional. She had my skin, looking great after only one visit. I was so happy, that I went back the following month and received a Glycolic facial, which was amazing. I walked out of there feeling like I glowed, which I apparently did, according to family and friends. I wouldn't go anywhere else. It is so refreshing to find a salon, that raises the bar in all the areas. It is too common to find one place that does hair well and another for skin care, apparently AHS employs competant professionals in all areas. How nice it is to find one salon that does it all well, not to mention the convienance of one stop. Now my older sister is going to Enza too after I told her how fabulous she was, great job AHS Thank you, Geraldine read more

Doree was Great! She took the time to consult with me by showing me what my color was(she took a pic) and then looking at pictures to find the perfect color transition--from brassy to warm! I look forward to continuing with her and next time will get a haircut(she is a curly hair expert). She is a true artist! read more

After attending a fundraiser for a very sick friend, I had won the prize of multiple gift certificates to this salon. I was involved in a move at the time so I had misplaced them. Recently, I have been going through a very stressful time and needed some R&R. I came across the gift certificates which I thought was a blessing in disguise but I was wrong. The salon refused to honor any of the gifts. I would have been more than happy to tip accordingly and be gracious of their time but unfortunately I did not get the chance. As someone that works in the Spa and Wellness field, I recognize that as bad business. Next time they shouldn't bother donating their time. I've heard from others that they are snobs so I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. Oh well. read more

I have been going to Doree Mortillo at AHS for 10 years, Doree is an excellent hair stylist. She truly loves what she does and it shows each time I have my hair done. Doree is the nicest, most thoughtful hair dresser I know. She is a master at her craft, skilled at both cutting and coloring ( she is a master colorist, her highlights are perfect, always nature looking.) Over the past 10 years I have received numerous complements on my hair, a few of my friends have switched from their hair stylist to Doree, they are all very happy that they made the change. My cut and color always looks fabulous. I trust her to do an excellent job each time I sit in her chair. read more
