I was excited to have a day of relaxation! Spa is had great reviews. I was hoping to also have a body treatment but I waited to late to book. Spavia is located in nice plaza off of NJ 17. There is ample parking. The entrance was a bit tight (space) but it was beautifully set up and peaceful. The front desk was small but efficient. The staff that checked me in was super sweet and helpful. She checked me in and got me set up in changing room. She walked me through each step of the process. I was given a locker to store my clothes and was given a white rob to change into and sandals. The dressing room had lockers a separate toilet area, shower and area to dress. When I finished changing into my robe I went into the relaxation room and waited for my masseuse to pick me up. I scheduled the ultimate massage. Chris my masseuse was wonderful. I went for a maternity massage today, I had been there a few weeks prior for the same thing except the massage therapist this time, Flor Angela, did not know what she was doing and did not even bother to ask what I wanted. She said she would do full body but not include the hands and feet, never explained why. The maternity massage I had received a few weeks earlier included hands and feet which was actually so necessary since feet swelling is so common in pregnancy. Her pressure was so light I felt like she was just spreading lotion on my body, when I asked repeatedly to apply more pressure and to focus on a particular part on my upper back that was sore, she simply ignored me. I booked a signature massage since it was my first time and was not sure how the experience in general would be. But this place blew me away!! The receptionist was so friendly and answered all my questions. She led me into a changing room that had lockers, shower, bathroom, and sinks. I received a nice white robe and comfy slippers and went into a dim lit room that had a soothing feeling. I almost fell asleep right there listening to a gentle water fall . Found a great Groupon Deal steal + 20% off they were having for a 60 minute massage and facial and this place definitely exceeded my standards. Got the deal for me and my sisfer. Store front and little area to check in was small & very deceiving. Employees were extremely nice from the beginning! Came in, filled out papers of the usual do you usually get a massage and facial often, what to focus on for today, etc... I was assigned to Yolanda for my massage and Kelly for my facial and 5 starts to everyone. When entering they show you to the ladies room and give you slippers and a spavia robe. Then take you to the waiting area, give you a heated neck pillow until you get called. I had a cold and stuffy nose but Yolanda was very understanding and gave me tissues and offered me to blow my nose when she heard me sniffling. She did my massage perfect and just enough pressure! Next was my facial with Kelly where she advised me on what to do with my dry skin but even during my facial i got a massage on my arms again. I fell asleep for both services! I had hot stone massage. While the masseuse was nice, the massage itself wasn't really a massage. I marked on the intake form that I prefer medium pressure. This wasn't even light -- just gentle caressing with hot stones and oily hands. Then I had a facial. I have decades of experience getting facials. The extraction was way too painful and at times careless. My face was super red at the end and for hours afterwards. I didn't see any benefits on my skin the next few days, only more whiteheads. I came to the spa because it was advertised on Groupon. I received a 60 minute deep tissue massage from Yolanda. The facility is absolutely gorgeous and the massage was very professional and thorough. They have a cute little waiting room where you can put a heating pad on your neck, read a book, drink tea and relax and they allow you to stay there after the massage for as long as you want. Such a great find, Spavina is a beautiful new spa. We walked into a space that smelled delicious and was beautifully designed. We were greeted with a smile as we walked in. After having all of the facials explained we were able to change into a comfy robe and slippers and wait in a lovely tranquillity room where we waited sipping tea. Loved my experience here so much. The receptionist, Crystal, was so helpful during the confirmation phone call and, when I arrived, was friendly while she helped sign me in. Waiting area is very relaxing and the facility seems very clean and neat. Genuinely a relaxing environment. Megan, who was massaging me was very friendly and helpful. My only comment that would have to be negative (and this may only be my opinion because I am a physically active person), would be that while I requested a firm, deep tissue massage, it did not seem to dig as deep into my muscles as I would have liked. Again, I am biased as I am used to being in physical stress (due to my dance regime) but I would have liked a more intense massage. Other than that, it was a fantastic experience and I really left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Definitely give this place a try if you prefer gentler hands.
